Avatar f tn My insurance company approved me for the occipital nerve stimulator!! yay!!!! I meet with the rep tomorrow to learn how to use it. I'm scheduled for surgery for the trial on Feb. 23rd!! I have so much to do by them because they said I need to see my primary for a physical as well as have some labs done. So a lot to organize!! Plus the last I talked to them they didn't want me going to class or work the week I had the trial...
Avatar m tn I am guessing if it gets approved(maybe 3 or 4 weeks?) that I will start maybe around the end of Jan or the beginning of Feb.

Avatar n tn How alarmed should I be and what can I do to fix or improve. I have already started a low carb low fat diet and started an aerobic exercise program. I am on 5mg of lisinpril for hypertensionl; my BP is now 120/77.
Avatar f tn m also on a low sodium, low carb, no caffeine, and no sugar (I use Splenda or truvia). All of which is OB approved.
Avatar f tn If possible, it can be helpful to meet with a dietician or nutritionist to help you understand what foods will fuel your body without spiking your blood sugar. A regular exercise program (approved by your doctor) can also be helpful. Limiting alcohol, fried/fatty foods, and obviously strict management of your carbohydrate intake are also important. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, I would change my diet to a low carb diet. A lot of news has been coming out about low carb and I am doing low carb. It has really helped me keep my BG down to an acceptable leval. You might try researching the Dr. Bernstein diet for diabetics. It really works and does not affect a person in any bad way. You also do not have to starve yourself on this diet. I eat between 2000 up to 3000 calories a day but those calories are coming from low carb food.
Avatar f tn I was the same way as you ore pregnancy and ever since finding out I have GD I've been out on a pregnancy approved diet that limits your carb intake. I've maintained the same weight now for five weeks which in pregnancy reality it means I've lost weight while the baby continues to gain weight. It's perfectly healthy and all you have to do is eat frequently but limit out carbs and sugars. Even this late in my pregnancy I feel much better about myself than I did months ago!
Avatar f tn Obese adults followed one of the two diets for two years. Those on the low-carb diet had significantly higher cravings for carbohydrates and high-fat foods, although they were less bothered by hunger.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar m tn no mood swings, or anything like that). Most other communities online suggest I put crystals under my mattress and use peta-approved detoxing ear candles. So I'm fairly lost atm, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
5924569 tn?1377745370 I believe I'm starting to catch a cold. Does anyone here know of any approved medicines that I can take for this cold. I'd call my on but their offices are closed now.
Avatar f tn I wanted to let everyone know my insurance company approved the 3 meds (Incivek, peg and riba). They have approved the incivek for the first 4 weeks. At that time if my blood results are where they need to be, they will approve the next 4 weeks and so on. If I do not respond the peg and riba has been approved for the course of the tx. Positive thoughts here, praying to be undetected so I can keep using the new meds. I am very excited to say the least.
29837 tn?1414534648 Just got a, call from the Medicare sub-contractor, my insurance company, that they have approved Bocepravir. This should be good news for those on Medicare. They said to call the pharmacy and order the meds now. This is the beginning of what will hopefully be my (and other's) final battle. Good luck to everyone in their battle. One way or another, we will all be victorious.
645390 tn?1338555377 Well, after just about 2 years, 2 denial letters and hearing 3 weeks ago, I have been approved. It's been a long time coming...I feel really happy relieved, and at the same time sadness... Just thought I would let you in on my journey with ms...
325405 tn?1262290178 My blood sugar levels are controlled well with metformin and low carb dieting. How low carb can I go? I am eating about 12 carb choices per day, with a caloric intake of around 1400 calories, with high fiber. It is hard to exercise in winter and I can't afford a gym membership with all my medication copays, plus I have a 2 year old with autism who has therapy 4 times per week plus it is just tired mommying.
1451080 tn?1438527660 As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks.
