Avatar f tn I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Avatar n tn Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
Avatar m tn The periodontist has recommended a procedure to reinforce the gums prior to the braces. This has added an additional 6K to the price and about 3 months to the total time to straighten the teeth. The last thing the periodontist said to us was if we had to choose between the periodontal and orthodontist was to get the teeth straightened and if there was problem we could then address that problem.

Avatar f tn My husband and I just got into a huge argument because he accidentally threw away my baby girls ultrasound pictures. I had them in an envelope because I was taking them to work to show people, and he mistakenly thought it was trash while he was cleaning and threw them out. Unfortunately the garbage man has already come and gone so they are definitely gone. Of course I was upset, but I didn't get angry with him because mistakes happen.
Avatar f tn My parents doesn't know I'm pregnant yet I've been scared to tell them especially my dad. But me and my boyfriend found a house and are moving in togather I told parents about the house and that I wanna move with him. And my dad's response was that I'm gonna get pregnant and be his biggest disappointment. This totally just crushed me now I don't even wanna tell him about his little grandson at all.
Avatar m tn It is believed to be monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the skull. I have found articles to suggest that high-dose bisphosphonate therapy (40 mg/day for 6 months) offers a significant improvement in patients with fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Do you believe that since my fibrous dysplasia has remained static / unchanged in almost 4 years that bisphosphonates would possibly be helpful to a large degree?

Avatar f tn I was in a one-car accident on April 18. I was placed in an Aspen Collar (for about 3-months), dislocated a shoulder and broke three-ribs. I blacked out prior to the accident and have no memory of anything strange or any unusual feelings prior to blacking out. The original angiogram and x-rays also show degenerative disks C5,-C6 & C7. Could this be the problem.? The doctors tell me my injuries will heal themselves but we need to find out why I blackout out.
Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.

Avatar f tn If you are worried that using this has damaged your bones, you should speak to your doctor about this. If may be that you need to have calcium and Vitamin D (this helps the body to absorb calcium) replacement. Do not stop taking the prednisones until you speak with your doctor. The damage to your 3 vertebrae may just be coincidental. Make an appointment with your doctor and discuss your concerns with him. Hope you get on OK. Best wishes.

Avatar m tn Hopefully your wife will have acute HBV, clear it, and then be vaccinated so that you both can live at peace. The vaccination is good for a long time. Hang in there and hopefully you will find that although it is a hassle or a burden to bear, you will find that more often than not, you feel fairly normal and as long as you manage your diet, exercise and abstain from any drug/alcohol use, you can continue living a healthy life as others.

Avatar m tn I got both of my feet crushed in an accident on 1-10-11. They were pinned under great pressure for 2 hours. left foot has what they called "multiple fractures" and a Lis Franc fracture. The right foot has a frcture in the ankle that has had a screw put in already. The Dr said the left foot is like a windshield that has been hit by a rock, all broke up but none of the pieces moved so nothing to do but let mother nature heal it.
Avatar n tn When my little guy does that I usually just push back a little and he stops :P
Avatar n tn I just had my ultrasound today and I am supposed to be 8w5d. There was a sac, yolk sac and fetal pole, but tech said that baby stopped growing around 7 wks and there was no heartbeat. Dr came in and said I could either wait to miscarry naturally or have a d&c TOMORROW???? Omg, that is so soon. They said that the pregnancy is NON VIABLE!!! I have read many stories about misdiagnosed miscarriages and I felt like I wanted to wait a little while.
Avatar n tn Crush injuries of the foot are serious and can be difficult to manage. These complex injuries often involve soft tissue and osseous structures. Compartment syndrome is a serious complication that can occur with these types of injuries. But in your husband's case i think the treatment was given at the appropriate time to prevent serious complications. After surgery does he experience any numbness, pain and heaviness in the limb?
Avatar n tn Better safe than sorry, and the worst thing you could do, other than delaying treatment, would be driving yourself to the ER!
