Bystolic medication side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Bystolic medication side effects

bystolic

Avatar f tn The Dr put me on Bystolic, but it was samples and there is no information on side effects. I have started having stomach problems and acid reflux lately. Can the Bystolic be causing this? What would be other good choices?
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone who is taking bystolic experiences side effects all the time, or if it is a gradual onset after dosing, or what? My side effects always seem to hit me in the late afternoon, early evening. I take my dose anytime between 6am and 7am.
Avatar n tn I am a female, age 63 have been on Bystolic for about 2 years have knee and leg pain that seems to be getting worse.Have mentioned this to my Doctor he says not one of listed side effects so he blew me off.
Avatar n tn Along with that, it has the same side effects as all the other beta blockers. If you have benign palpitations I would stay away. I was switched to bystolic, which has worked well for me where toprol and atenolol didn't.
1933354 tn?1323362834 Medication definitely affects us all in different ways, but there are side effects to any medication that we take. The question that I ask myself is do the benefits I get from something outweigh negatives? If they do, I tend to stay on it. However, if you are not comfortable with it there are different classes of medicaitons that are prescribed specifically for anxiety.
343006 tn?1314446471 but mostly feel dumpy and tired and I get sick feeling - iv been on verapamil for 6years now - and I can no longer take the sr or slow release extended release pills -as they no longer seem to work .. and side effects happen more so than before. but the normal 80mg verapamil pills work fine ? other than my ankles swell up and foot tops.. from it. I can't seem to get help on this matter from any Doctor or even Pharm employees.
Avatar m tn I am taking it for slightly high blood pressure. As it happens, I also have frequent palpitations (for decades now). I find that Bystolic actually *does* decrease my palps, even though I did not expect that! BTW, this is the only blood pressure medication I've ever taken that seems to be without nasty side effects. The first week, I felt as though I might have had a bit too much to drink, but since then, I can't even tell that I'm taking anything.
Avatar f tn I been on Bystolic for sometime now/ I didn't realize there were side effects to this pill? I have some of those side effects you are talking about. I'm not sure which pill I take might be cause of it. I have the wakefulness at night and I take Bystolic in the mornings. Ihave dizziness and not sure if it's this pill because I have had dizziness before? I have up n down or highs and lows with my blood pressure.
Avatar m tn With all that said, I guess my major question is are these some of the side effects when taking Bystolic? Should I go back to my Doctor and request he put me back on Atenolol? I believe the Atenolol was doing the job. I had a few spikes and most of them were while in a Doctors office. I might add I have been taking the Atenolol since my Heart Surgery in 1996.
343006 tn?1314446471 For me , verapamil did not work ( very fatigued), toprol XL had horrible side effects after several days, ect.. And then you may have to adjust your doseage too! I finally found atenolol, still not perfect ( none would be better) but it works the best for me with least side effects. I have found calcium/mag supplements help my heart palps- anyone out know natural remedies for B/P issues?? Good luck, and don't give up til you find something that works, either natural or pharmacutical!!
Avatar m tn I have called my doctor numeroud times for the shortness of breath and to see if there is something I can switch to that would not have the same effects with the fatigue and shortness of breath, she assured me that the Bystolic does not exhibit those effects and it could not be the Bystolic doing this to me that the medication has no side effects that I need to be worried about. Yet online all of what I am feeling are stated as side effects of the medication.
214864 tn?1229715239 Improper dose of medication can have effect on the stress test, but the doctor should know your medication and possible side effects. If you play 12 holes of golf without a cart, that would indicate you are fairly healthy, if you carry your own clubs! You may want to discuss your medication with your doctor...sometimes it is a trial and error procedure until the a med is determined effective and minimum or no side effects.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your thoughts. I take 5 mg of Bystolic. Just reread the side effects. This could be the source of the issue. Getting the blood pressure meds right is tricky business and some more tweaking may be necessary. I have taken Azor with the Bystolic. I may need to resume that. Again, thank you.
Avatar n tn ve been on metoprolol before, and had some awful side effects with that one, but the bystolic seems to tame those down quite a bit for me. I've only had two instances in which I could tell I was experiencing some slight side effects (dizziness, slight shortness of breath, pressure). I've also been told by my GP that, if I find myself with a rapid heart rate or back in A-fib, I can take another 2.5mg dose right then, since it's such a small dosage.
Avatar f tn This works well to control my tachy....but, has bad side effects of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. I lookd up Bystolic..and it has none of these type side effects listed. I was going to ask my doctor to change to Bystolic. Has anyone here had any success in changing over to Bystolic from Metoprolol ?
Avatar f tn I quite taking due to the side effects. Is it normal to get headaches when stsrting this medication?
Avatar n tn Muscle pain is not listed as a side-effect of Bystolic. Please discuss this with your physician. Maybe he or she would be willing to change your medication or prescribe something to help with the pain.
Avatar m tn While reading I began to suspect the female cycle, then checking your profile I see you are a male, so that is out. Perhaps there is a Beta Blocker or a Calcium Channel Blocker that will help that has tolerable side effects. I do not know the brand "Bystolic", I take generic Metoprolol myself, very inexpensive too. I take 25 mg twice a day, normal release medication. The side effects that were the most troubling to me, dizziness, passed after taking the medication for a few weeks.
Avatar f tn This sounds like me. Several months prior and before my ablation was even considered, my PCP put me on Sotalol after I went to him complaining that someting had to be done about my frequent PVCs and 5X/month expisodes of SVT. He wrote me a prescription for Sotalol. Sometimes, a little knowledge is dangerous! I went home, looked it up, and read all about the "side effects" of this drug. Nonetheless, I filled it and gave it a try.
Avatar n tn Bystolic has not been shown to cause ED in studies, but there apparently have been some spontaneous, voluntary reports of it happening. This means that once it went to market, people taking it reported various side effects, including ED, but they were rare and it wasn't in the context of a controlled study. So it's technically possible the the bystolic is your issue. You should talk to your doctor about it.
343006 tn?1314446471 They go with the odds. If 70% of the people in the world (probably even less) can take the med with few/minor side effects, it will go on the market. For those that can't tolerate the side effects or the medication at all, too bad. Try something else. I can't take Verapamil at all. I'm pretty tolerant of discomfort and pain (irritates my doctor when I do that) but Verapamil had me whining like a baby from the chest pain, inability to breath well and pain in my legs.
