byetta with metformin

I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???

Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.

Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.

What other meds do you take with Byetta? I know recent warnings on pancreatitus, but this may be something they should try with me. I cannot take metformin. Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.

I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.

I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.

My Dr. wants to place me on Metformin or Glucophage. Does anyone here with MS take one of these? If so, what kind of problems might I expect? What good benefits do you receive? Any info is much appreciated!!!!

My former endrocrinologist put me on Byetta and I stayed with it for a few months. Even before I read about Byetta's possible link with pancreatis, I stopped the injections. Problem was that I would get severe nausea in the morning and often vomited. It was no fun feeling sick while driving or throwing up in a garbage can in my classroom(retired teacher). My new primary doctor eventually junked my diabetic orals and put me on Humalog and Lantus insulins.

and i dont see major sideeffect caused by metformin . what do u guys think . i was overweight , now i reduced my weight to the normal range with dieting and exercise still my insulin is high . every help will be hugely appreciated i am currently writing this with huge brainfogg and sleepiness .

I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.

I would also like to know if I should still take my diabetic meds as usual ,which are metformin and byetta? and should I skip breakfast on the morning of the test?. Thankyou for any help or advice you can give me.

Not enough information in your post. Safe by itself? Safe with other medications? Safe with insulin? Safe for, with, or what? Try a Google search on 'how safe is byetta' for about 116,000 hits.

I have been Type 2 Diabetic for 19 months now and I am on a few Medications such as..Humalog 50-25 units 3 times per day and Byetta 10 unitis 2 times per day and Metformin 2 times per day and Atrovastatin once per day..when I was diagnosed I weighed 120kg now I weigh 154kg, I have been in Terrible pain over the past year..my right and left foot and toes are constently paining and my lower back and hips are always painful also my left elbow joint and my fingers are starting to pain..

I'm not very good about keeping my levels under control because I get so discouraged that I just give up from time to time.

Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!! I'm working by tail off and still have a GUT. Thank you in advance.

Her doctor had her taking Geodon to help her sleep along with Zoloft for depression. She started to gain weight and became even more reclusive so we found a specialist out of town to check her Thyroid.

Not a pill, but you may want to discuss Byetta with your MD. It is an injection with the tiniest needle you will ever see, taken 30-60 min prior to breakfast and dinner. It helps with blood sugar and takes away your appetite by making you feel full. There are also two newer products. Good luck.

Did those just starting the medicine feel nausea right away, or was it with higher dosages that nausea was felt? Also, does Victoza aid weight loss by another mechanism besides early satiety?

I take a variety of different medications to help with my blood sugars. The two main ones that I take are Metformin and an inject-able pen medication called Byetta. Both help me to keep my blood sugars to a manageable level. I can't really tell you exactly how to keep your blood sugars from spiking during the morning.Each persons metabolism is a bit different from each other so what may work for me, may not work for you.

Thanks for the input on Victoza. The first day on it I was fine but now nausea has stepped in. I expected this to happen because the same thing happened when I was taking Byetta. Victoza does take away your appetite and with having Diabetes it's a catch 22--you have to eat but you don't want to.

pm. I dont think this med is taking care of my diabetetes, i ahe other high sugar levels at times, have swae\tinf spells, and i ahve checked it during these and my blood sugar isnt low. any sugestions out there. BY iam type 11 diabetic.

I will confess that I have not been dilligent with my diet and exercise. My latest A1c was 7.3. I am taking 850 mg of Metformin twice a day. My morning blood sugar is around 200. I am close to or over 200 for most of the day as well. I have decided that until I can lose weight and get my numbers in control that way that insulin might be a good choice for me. I am afraid that it constantly being that high is going to cause damage.

Like byetta or something. Also I read that crf causes insulin resistance. Any ideas?? His bs has been 350- 500 before adding fast insulin.
