Byetta with lantus

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta with lantus

byetta

Avatar m tn You may wish to discuss premixed insulin, which is a combination of specific proportions of intermediate/long-acting and short acting insulin in one bottle or insulin pen. Btw, Lantus [not to be confused with Apridra] is a long acting insulin not short [fast].
Avatar n tn I know several with Hep-c who take Metformin.
178107 tn?1315947630 What other meds do you take with Byetta? I know recent warnings on pancreatitus, but this may be something they should try with me. I cannot take metformin. Actos made my appetite surge and I gained 20 lbs with combo Actos/Lantus. I went off Actos but still inject 20 units in evening. BS fast is 215. I do not EAT wrong.
Avatar f tn My former endrocrinologist put me on Byetta and I stayed with it for a few months. Even before I read about Byetta's possible link with pancreatis, I stopped the injections. Problem was that I would get severe nausea in the morning and often vomited. It was no fun feeling sick while driving or throwing up in a garbage can in my classroom(retired teacher). My new primary doctor eventually junked my diabetic orals and put me on Humalog and Lantus insulins.
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
14386166 tn?1434268142 then i go to a Diabtec Specialist and he says as long as im on Insulin i will always pick up weight..and he put me on a course of Byetta that works with the Insulin to increase weight loss!! but is hasnt worked i am still the same weight or maybe more..now he has recomended me to go for Weight loss Surgery!! does anyone know what i should do about my Pain and Weight or any advise please that could be constructive...
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis. This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?
Avatar n tn Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar n tn Not enough information in your post. Safe by itself? Safe with other medications? Safe with insulin? Safe for, with, or what? Try a Google search on 'how safe is byetta' for about 116,000 hits.
Avatar f tn Not a pill, but you may want to discuss Byetta with your MD. It is an injection with the tiniest needle you will ever see, taken 30-60 min prior to breakfast and dinner. It helps with blood sugar and takes away your appetite by making you feel full. There are also two newer products. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Did those just starting the medicine feel nausea right away, or was it with higher dosages that nausea was felt? Also, does Victoza aid weight loss by another mechanism besides early satiety?
Avatar n tn I too experience severe low blood sugar after hitting a vein with Lantus. Never had this with my Humulin N and I am thiniking of insisting on switching back to my old iinsullin at bedtime. While my dad and brother love this insulin, it is not working for me.
Avatar n tn m diabetic and overweight, taking metformin, Byetta, lisinopril, HCTZ, gabapentin, lovastatin and Lantus). Is this normal? Any comments?
1273125 tn?1365077526 My doctor asked that I come in and see the CNP. I did as requested and she along with my consent agreed to start me on Lantus. I have tried the Januvia, Actos, Byetta, etc and none of those have helped. We agreed that if my mealtime numbers continued to be high that we would use a bolus insulin such as Novolog. I contacted her and she was going to call in the Novolog. My numbers have remained high and I am begining to worry about long term effects.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know what the keys to good, consistent control are with this product? My doctor merely generalized by saying I would need to find my dose with Lantus by increasing a couple of units every few days for high fasting BG. Thanks for any light you can shed.
Avatar n tn i have that stupid fear of giving him to much insulin and then he gets lantus. i guess the ? is , is there any problem with giving him those 2 too close together and if his bs still seems up after a insulin shot and lantus, do u just keep giving more until his bs goes down?
1273125 tn?1365077526 I have tried other medications such as Actos and Januvia but they did not make that big a difference. I tried the Byetta as well with the same results. So I am not afraid of needles or injections. My question would be which insulin pens would be my best choice? I think a long acting such as Lantus and I might need a rapid acting one for meals? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am going to see the nurse practioner today in my doctor's office.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
Avatar n tn I use Lantus cartridges in a Humalog pen. And it works perfectly. For me, a major benefit of switching from NPH to Lantus has been the reduced variability in action. And delivery via the Humalog pen appears to be very consistent.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn NEVER mix Lantus with any other insulin. you can take them at the same time in different injection sites but do not mix them. Says so rite on the Lantus warning label.
Avatar m tn I am 43 year old male with type 2 I was told by my doctor to take 24 units twice a day and have gained 25 pound rather quickly. In july of this year was told to add Novalog 5 units after every meal and on sliding scale. I quickly gained anoather 25 lbs. and I feel miserable. I was on Byetta for 1 and a half and kept weight down and was put on oral meds and my levels was still in 400s thats when I start Lantus. I can't deal with the weight diet exercise does not help. What should I do.
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
Avatar n tn As for starting your Lantus in the morning I would check with your endocronologist. Lantus is a 24 hour insulin, so I am not sure what effects taking it in the morning opposed to taking it at night would be, but of course ask. Also ask your endocronologist about taking your humalog before meals, I am not sure if you meant that or if you do just take it before bed time. And are you eating a snack when you take humolog before bed? Humalog is a quick acting inulin, usually taken before meals.
Avatar f tn The insurance company and the pharmacy say its because of the wording of the dosage. His dosage on his lantus only went up 4 units a day. I get the same exact box as I always did but now its costing me double. His Humalog also went up $10.00 for no reason anyone can think of. Instead of paying $95.00 like I thought it ended up costing $255.00. We live paycheck to paycheck and since moving to a small town I haven't been able to find a job.
