1318202 tn?1274307827 It’s usually fine to pack interferon on ice and place it in a cooler; it’s shipped this way, and lasts for days. I’m diabetic and have traveled with both IFN and insulin this way without any significant problems.
Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
Avatar f tn My plan is to carry on my meds in the prescription bottles in a six pack cooler. I place my pro click in a toothbrush holder with smaller ice packs in a cosmetic bag. Then place that bag in the cooler bag with the larger ice pack that comes with monthly shipping. I estimate that I have to keep this cold for a minimum of 12 hours. Preflight 2 hrs, 6 hrs flight, and 2 hrs post flight with a 2 hr cushion. Any ideas? I also have to carry snacks. Do you think this will hold?
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
219241 tn?1413537765 Camping I took a cooler and at night we put a bag of ice on the top of the cooler with a plate to keep the cooler cool. The only thing I found difficult was most motels in USA don't have fridges!!! So we quickly learned to take the cooler out of the car and connect to the mains. Easy!
Avatar n tn I didn't respond to your question. I don't know anything about Byetta.
545538 tn?1295992017 Get a note from your doctor saying that you must travel with interferon, an injectable medication. Carry on a small six pack cooler with an ice pack and hand it to the person as you go through security. If it is a long flight, bring a ziplock bag and ask the attendant for ice. I flew international a couple months ago and had no problems at all. If you are still concerned you can call your airline and they will put a note on your reservation.
1148619 tn?1332010984 Got written rx from doc, packed everything up in my small victrilis cooler and off we go. It was not a problem other then they had me take out all meds and injections and lay flat in tub for X-rays. They did check the box lid for name and rx. With the way things have been going, I did not want to take any chances. I really needed to get away from home to nice weather. That was all great, I cruised on a rented cruiser bike while hubby rode the Desert with bike club.
Avatar n tn Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
1394098 tn?1385960134 I really dont want to pack them in my checked luggage because of the temperatures at this time of the year while leaving Minneapolis. They might freeze even in a small cooler. And can they go through the xray machine without damage? Do I need a doctors note or will the RX label be sufficient? I know I can check with the airlines but sometimes different ppl at the airlines give different answers. I just wondered if any of you have traveled with your injections.
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
Avatar m tn I am under VHC treatment and have to travel to Qatar for a consultancy during 3 weeks carrying 3 Pegasys pre-loaded syringes. I heard they deport who is a VHC carrier, so does anyone know if am i allowed to travel to Qatar carrying the Pegasys injections? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I need a small travel cooler(small enough to fit into carryon), that will keep meds cold for 7 hrs+. Any ideas or places that others have purchased? Thanks for your help!
Avatar n tn How can we transport a 3 month supply of insulin, keeping it refrigerated at all times and not have any additional carry on itmes, such as a cooler? The insulin will probably have to be kept cool for about 12 hours in total. Are there companies that specialize in such overseas transport of medical supplies?
