Byetta side effects diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta side effects diabetes

byetta

Avatar n tn It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit). That is because it was made with saliva of the Gila monster. A lot of people who are not diabetics have been trying to get the prescription for it because it is also know to have a positive side effect (Helps people to quit smoking). Hope this helps you with your question.
475740 tn?1208262865 Ask about getting Byetta. I had the same problem with metformin. The byetta has controlled my blood sugars and my pcos.
Avatar m tn Taking a different drug to block the side effects of the first drug is likely to lead to a pyramid of drugs, side effects, and cost. Recommend you look at other ways to help manage your diabetes. Victoza is not for everyone. Eating a low carb diet can also be very helpful in diabetes management. I personally try to eat ketogenic diet. This diet is abundant in meat, eggs, vegetables (except starchy ones), and unprocessed oils.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if any of this sounds like it could be diabetes: My hand and feet have really bad circulation. They often turn completely white and the bottom of my feet burn all the time due to poor circulation. Also if I do not get up and eat with in 5-10minutes in the morning I get very tired. One last thing is that I usually get no warning sign of being hungry. I feel full and fine and the next minute I feel like if I do not eat I am going to pass out.
Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
Avatar m tn As with all medication, discuss in detail with your doctor the potential risks and advantages of the prescribe medication, including side effects. Talk with the pharmacist too.
Avatar f tn ve been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues. For the last year I have had IBS and now my blood sugar is climbing, (only my fasting). Needless to say I have quit taking the injections because I'm afraid it has caused these changes.
194838 tn?1303428544 Thankyou Ladies for responding so quickly , I still have a lot to learn about Diabetes and the effects of different foods on my blood glucose. My test results were ok so I must be doing something right lol!. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar n tn Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar n tn 125 mg). I also have diabetes. I have gained weight and cannot lose any. It is as if I have a tube in my belly pumping air.....it gets bigger and bigger. Ive had tests done to check my TSH..doc says its normal. I have other issues as well, loss of sex drive, hot and cold, sleepless, tingling in hands, memory issues, headaches. Why can I lose weight? This discussion is related to weight increased - TSH is high.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis. This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?
14386166 tn?1434268142 I have been Type 2 Diabetic for 19 months now and I am on a few Medications such as..Humalog 50-25 units 3 times per day and Byetta 10 unitis 2 times per day and Metformin 2 times per day and Atrovastatin once per day..when I was diagnosed I weighed 120kg now I weigh 154kg, I have been in Terrible pain over the past year..my right and left foot and toes are constently paining and my lower back and hips are always painful also my left elbow joint and my fingers are starting to pain..
Avatar n tn One reason that 70 can feel awful is because, while it *is* a normal number for someone w/o diabetes, most of us with diabetes run considerably higher than 70 in order to avoid severe lows. Our bodies adjust somewhat to higher numbers feeling "normal." For a person who consistently runs in upper 100's - 200s, a reading of 100 can feel awful. That's part of why it's so difficult for some folks to improve their control.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar n tn could it be his glucose level was already low secondary to a developing diabetes type I or can that medicine act that quickly. I think we may have stumbled on to something accidently. I checked his nonfasting glucose level just now and it was 121. Any ideas?
Avatar n tn I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
Avatar n tn my doc says Byetta is safer for liver people.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar n tn What are you referring to when you say the doctor said it's hormones...the diabetes? I am diagnosed with having Adult Diabetes Type 2. I know mine is genetic because my mom and dad both have/had this disorder. I take a variety of different medications to help with my blood sugars. The two main ones that I take are Metformin and an inject-able pen medication called Byetta. Both help me to keep my blood sugars to a manageable level.
Avatar n tn I have a very dear friend that was in the war and within the last 6 years his health is going to pot. They have him diagnoised with having the effects of agent orange and he has just got diabetes and they say this why. He loses his memory for short time frames, and hurts inside his body more and more. We need a specialists that deals in this and that is very good with working with the diease.
Avatar n tn Keep in mind I am not a doctor. Medications all have side effects. You need to talk to your doctor and see if he could somehow cut your long list of meds down to a narrower field. also your trainer should also know that when you have what we call stomach flab, as you lose weight this skin takes longer to tighten because the weight of the fat cells causes sag initially makeing it harder to lose weight in our mid sections.
466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
