My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
Being a Veteran and on VA benefitsI was barely able to afford Victoza by purchasing from Canada, since the US Government (Bamacare) stopped shipments of that med from Canada I had to purchase it from a US distributor at twice the price, can't afford it and it's replacement Januvia isn't working, Blood Sugar in the 200s and gaining weight. Any suggestions???
They often turn completely white and the bottom of my feet burn all the time due to poor circulation. Also if I do not get up and eat with in 5-10minutes in the morning I get very tired. One last thing is that I usually get no warning sign of being hungry. I feel full and fine and the next minute I feel like if I do not eat I am going to pass out. I get real shaky and hot and it gets hard for me to see straight. Any comments would help.
Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
5 years ago I started doing cardio and weight trainig 5 days a week with a trainer and eating a clean diet and have lost 50lbs and have maintained it. BUT my stomach WILL NOT go down. My trainer thinks it could be some of my medications and/or its interactions with each other. Here's a list of what I am currently still taking: Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!!
i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.
I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis.
This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?

I am not a doctor and am not sure why an adrenaline rush would make your blood sugar drop so rapidly. I do believe that the Byetta you are taking might be a factor in your low blood sugars. Perhaps ypou need to talk to your doctor about lowering your insulin dose when taking the Byetta since this drug will increase the effectiveness of yor insulin. Many people find they can significantly reduce the amount of insulin they are taking when taking Byetta.
Hi and sorry you haven't been well. Well, aside from not knowing what caused you to get a bruise on your liver, the liver does regenerate. Did they do blood work which included an amylase and lipase test? The amylase and lipase test will be high if you have pancreatitis otherwise it may not have been pancreatitis and possibly referred pain. It is good you are following up the GI doc maybe they can figure out why you have these problems.
t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.
I started taking Glucophage and Byetta. My cycle started to come down on a monthly basis. I got off of both these medications maybe 8 months ago and now I am back to the missed months again. I am also taking Maxide for my high blood pressure and I take it every single day, faithfully. In Januray my cycle was fine (usually lasts 4 days) and then in February, I started seeing lighter menstruation. In March, it skipped.
I am not on Insulin but rather a medication called Byetta. I must use the needle to inject the med but I do not have to regulate it as I believe those who use Insulin do. I simply must take it twice a day.
Additionally, Insulin does not get rid of Diabetes - it is simply another attempt to control it.
I hope someone with complete information can give you the answer you seek.
