Byetta needle gauge

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta needle gauge

byetta

Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
Avatar n tn The larger the Number, ie 25 gauge vs. 21 gauge the SMALLER the lumen or "barrel width" of the needle tube. Think of it as a pipe and the distance that measures across the diameter of the opening,,,the larger that width, the greater amount of a substance can pass through. In needle gauges #'s, however....think of opposites: # 19 gauge is "wider" than a # 25 gauge, which is much smaller, used for subcutaneous injections such as insulin.
Avatar f tn Pegasys prefilled syringes are 27-gauge 1/2 inch needles. Neupogen prefilled syringes are also 27-gauge 1/2 needles.
956292 tn?1334054869 The larger the gauge the smaller the diameter. So, an 18 gauge needle would be considerably larger than a 20 gauge. (more info than anyone needed or wanted to know I'm sure, but there it is, lol) I think in terms of Avonex, because it is an IM injection, you will need a little bit longer of a needle because the needle needs to go into the muscle, so you probably don't have much of a choice in length.
Avatar m tn I have been reading that if you use the same needle that you draw meds with (18 gauge), some rubber from the bail might get injected to your muscle, and that scared me. I am still in a lot of pain 16 hours later....
Avatar m tn I am not on Insulin but rather a medication called Byetta. I must use the needle to inject the med but I do not have to regulate it as I believe those who use Insulin do. I simply must take it twice a day. Additionally, Insulin does not get rid of Diabetes - it is simply another attempt to control it. I hope someone with complete information can give you the answer you seek.
Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
4726816 tn?1363910897 I always have indents on my finger and thumb from pushing them, I use a 23 gauge needle for them so it makes it hard to push. They're just already so irritating that I feel bad going at someone with a thicker needle lol.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your reply, I'm aware of Symlin and Byetta, but neither My Dr. and what information I can gather on the web works as well as Victoza. I understand Byetta is coming out with a medication that lasts much longer but it uses a larger needle and is truly an injection. Don't understand why these drug companies in the US price their product out of reach of most....
Avatar m tn Can someone tell me the gauge and length of the needle used with the auto ejector used with the trimix injections?
Avatar m tn This morning when I took my IM POI injection, I forgot to change the needle to the 22 gauge and used the 18 gauge to draw up the medicine and also inject. I am in a lot of pain. I am worried about infection, and nerve damage as this needle is so big. Anybody else ever done this or know someone who has? I am so stressed over this. Currently, I am 5 weeks pregnant after embryo transfer and want to make sure nothing bad happens.
Avatar n tn sometimes is used as fine needle aspiration [with word biopsy is omitted], or fine needle biopsy.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar m tn The reason while a larger gauge needle is used is the fact that the use Sesamy seed oil as a base for the testosterone. The oil is thick and if a small gauge needle is used it becomes to difficult to inject. I use a 22 G needle and inject it into my hip. I have tried my thigh, but that was little bit uncomfortable, nothing painfull however. Placing the inejction in the hip myself has not caused me pain.
Avatar n tn I actually started on Victoza about 3 months ago. I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar m tn There would have to be a deep, significant injury with a large gauge needle (ie, an IM or IV type needle) to cause a risk in a needle stick scenario. There would also have to be a copious amount of fresh blood on the needle to cause a risk. A superficial needle stick with a small gauge needle (like an insulin needle) would not be a risk. MOST needle stick injuries never lead to infection, and the rare ones that do were significant injuries with a grossly bloody large bore needle.
Avatar m tn I am worried about the incident happed while the nurse took my blood sample Nurse applied the Alcohol wipe and did he needle prick to collect the blood. Removed the needle and asked me to press the prick with cotton like thing I think they call it cotton gauge. She then checked if blood was stopped hence applied the sticking band aid and asked me to lower my sleeve.
Avatar n tn FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. Then the material is looked under the microscope to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Hi, I picked up a needle on its side by accident that I have no idea what it was used for. This needle was unuasually long and had a gauge on the end of it. I also have a burn on my finger that is not bleeding but is gushing. Could I catch any blood related diseases from such contact?
5013474 tn?1362339295 You need to get this lump examined from a surgeon and get a FNAB (fine needle aspiration biopsy) of the lump. FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Avatar m tn I use a 21 gauge 1" needle and it works great in the upper hip buttocks area. Ive been giving myself Testosterone injections for about two years now. It's not that bad and far better than going without. I would use a straw if I had to, ha ha. But seriously if your way low it makes a huge difference in your quality of life.
Avatar m tn **{{ A 27 Gauge needle **}} Betaseron was using a 30 or 31 gauge needle, the syringe would glide much better than the possible cheaper quality one that Extavia is using. After I inject, I seem to be twitching around a lot, like I can not get comfortable, I am already taking a medication for rest less leg syndrom, but for some reason , as stated above, I still can not get comfortable after taking the Extavia,??

Avatar n tn Has the doctor taken you off of Byetta? I am on byetta and just found out I am pregnant. I am scared that something could go wrong. I have waited 7 years to concieved. Have you heard of any damaging side effects with Byetta? I am off now and only 4 weeks pregnant. I just know what to think.
Avatar f tn My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
