I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
My fasting glucose level has increased in the last month. I've been taking my meds as directed and my diet has remained the same. I've been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues.
I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
I probably experience nausea or the feeling just ahead of nausea 3 or 4 times a day. I also have GERD, though I do not usually experience heartburn. I have some habits that exacerbate this, like eating late, as I get home late from work. My colitis symptoms are also active but comparatively mild--a little diarrhea, loose stools almost always, 2-3 movements a day, mild cramping occasionally and a little mucus most times.
t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.
I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.

Are you a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? He is type 2 he started taking a new medication called byetta. You inject in your arm before you meals. My husband has lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. He just can't eat like he used to since he has been on the byetta. It curves your appetite and apparently helps your body produce it's own insulin. It might be something you want to run by your endo doctor. Let me know.
I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis.
This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?
i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.

Since: Nausea intensified. Hospitalized for dehydration and weight loss for 5 days. Given Reglan, Ativan. Tests: Upper Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Gastric Emptying Scan, Swallowed "camera pill" stool samples and blood tests - all o.k.- Diagnosis of possible motility problems, possible virus or IBS. Since discharge in mid-June. Was given a 7-week cycle of Flagyl (Treated empirically) Ended on July 10.
Thank you for your reply, I'm aware of Symlin and Byetta, but neither My Dr. and what information I can gather on the web works as well as Victoza. I understand Byetta is coming out with a medication that lasts much longer but it uses a larger needle and is truly an injection. Don't understand why these drug companies in the US price their product out of reach of most....
I started taking Glucophage and Byetta. My cycle started to come down on a monthly basis. I got off of both these medications maybe 8 months ago and now I am back to the missed months again. I am also taking Maxide for my high blood pressure and I take it every single day, faithfully. In Januray my cycle was fine (usually lasts 4 days) and then in February, I started seeing lighter menstruation. In March, it skipped.
ALSO, can anxiety rearly cause episodes of Nausea, weakness, burning in the legs, diarrhea, headaches, and pins pinching? What about loss of appetite and significant weight loss?
No RVR but EVR which is quite the difference in treatment duration. I feel I will never make another 36 weeks of this hell. Depression is terrible, started Wellbutrin last week, not sure if it has helped yet. Have had quite the rash but find psycological sides harder than physical
As I could have been only a week or 2 from RVR arm of study (tx 24 weeks) I am questioning adding a extra 24 weeks SOC treatment. No testing between week 4 and 8.
I have experienced severe head aches and nausea for the last two weeks along with a reboot feeling in the head. It has been really bad the last 3 or 4 days several days. My Dr said it would last about 10 to 14 days. How long can I expect this to last? I alternated 2.5 mg every other day for a month before stopping completely.
I am also on 150 mg of Welbutrin XL and plan on beginning to stop this as well within the next 60 to 90 days under Dr supervision.
