Byetta and pcos treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Byetta and pcos treatment

byetta

Avatar n tn Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.
475740 tn?1208262865 I don't know if anything else, I take metformin 1000mgs a day, and at first it kept me with the runs and I lost 20lbs but, then after my body got use to the meds I gained it all back.. I am going to start a liquid diet.. if that doesn't help then I am going to look into Weight Loss surgery.. I am close to 250lbs my biggest is 255.. and I am 5'6 I think that my weight has alot to do with all my health problems and not being able to get PG.. so I need to lose weight some how..
Avatar f tn My situation is so weird right now. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 14 and I am now 29 years old. I need to find a PCOS specialist. I have always missed like one or two months of my period. I started taking Glucophage and Byetta. My cycle started to come down on a monthly basis. I got off of both these medications maybe 8 months ago and now I am back to the missed months again. I am also taking Maxide for my high blood pressure and I take it every single day, faithfully.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar m tn Hello, obviously you are having a problem tolerating byetta, and given that this is now 3 months and you have lost so much weight, I would think it may be rational to ask your doctor if you can stop this medication and try something different? Why did your dr. not decide to start you on Metformin? Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med?
Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
489891 tn?1209058786 My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...
502219 tn?1311357910 In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?
Avatar m tn t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.
Avatar f tn I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.
Avatar n tn I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.
Avatar f tn t last long and the pharmacist says that should go away with continued treatment. I also have MS. It should not cause any changes in your MS course. Metformin is a better medication for me because it does not cause the highs and lows of some of the other medications. I am less likely to have a hypoglycemic episode and it even has the benefits of helping with my polycystic ovarian syndrome. A little weight loss is common with the drug also, which won't hurt me either.
2121477 tn?1334933569 All i want to ask is that was only parlodel enough for my pcos treatment? and i havent been taking parlodel in routine as i feel sick of nausea and vomiting. Please help me members!

Avatar f tn I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.
Avatar n tn I took lantus throughout treatment. However, my doctor pulled me off metformin because it sometimes messes with ALT levels, making it difficult to get an accurate picture of how liver enzymes respond to tx. I ate so little during tx, and a lot of it was ice cream. Nevertheless, for some reason - despite all the sugar in ice cream - my A1c was better during tx than it ever was before or after.
Avatar f tn Treatment will depend on your symptoms and desire for child bearing. Weight loss is the best natural treatment for PCOS. Birth control pills can be taken for menstrual irregularity. If you have a problem conceiving then your gynaecologist will be able to help you. Basic problem in PCOS is hormonal and because of an-ovulation. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn To confim my PCOS my doc only did bloodwork. Your FSH or LH ratio is the determining factor is your have PCOS. Not all women with PCOS have cysts on there overies. I am currently on 500 mg BID of Metformin to help with the PCOS. I had some problems at first that lasted maybe the first week, but I am feeling better then ever!! You can never "cure" PCOS, but you can help it.
Avatar n tn Also if I do not get up and eat with in 5-10minutes in the morning I get very tired. One last thing is that I usually get no warning sign of being hungry. I feel full and fine and the next minute I feel like if I do not eat I am going to pass out. I get real shaky and hot and it gets hard for me to see straight. Any comments would help.
Avatar f tn She said they could do an ultrasound to check for cysts but that people can have PCOS w/o any cysts and that people can have cysts w/o PCOS... she said that there wasn't any test that could confirm or dismiss PCOS as a dx. My periods are very regular... and I rarely miss a period the only time I have was when I was under a HUGE amount of stress (I even had ketones in my urine then), but once the stress was gone everything returned to normal.
Avatar f tn I have been diagosed with PCOS and my doctor hasnt said about any treatment other than the pill (which they said maybe not a good idea as get migranes) so im not having any treatment at the moment. The doctors have just said come back if i have any problems when i am trying to have kids. Im concerned that if i dont have treatment now it will get worse and about the other stuff that is related like heart problems and that. All the sites say it needs managing properly but i dont no how to.

Avatar f tn I have been put on Lantus, which is working well, but now he (the doctor) has also put me on Byetta. I read all the warnings, and I asked the pharmacy, and they both told me the side effects are nausea, diahrrea, upset stomach and possible life threatening pancreatis. This bothers me, as my stomach upsets easily, but what I really want to know is how many of you have been on it and what your reactions were? Also, is the chance of being allergic to it very high?
Avatar n tn My TSH was at 1.4 in feb. and something else was 0.434 . I am type 2 and on 35 units of Lantus and sliding scale of novolog.
Avatar f tn But wanted some advice do you think i should freeze some eggs i worry my PCOS could develop like my last cyst, i am having blood tests done next week to see how bad the PCOS is and what treatment can be done. Just wondered if anyone had any advice? Or if any1 else is in the ame position as me?!
Avatar n tn t listen to anything about fertility treatment until you have tried getting pregnant unsuccesfully for six months. I have three children and PCOS and all without any fertility issues. My faith in God and my trust in His sovereignty is the only "treatment" I needed. I also have a friend with PCOS who spent thousands on fertility and the only times she ever got pregnant are when she wasn't using fertility treatments.
Avatar f tn i do not think there is a rule that you cannot take treatment before you are 30. i am 27 and i am undergoing treatment for pcos with clomid right now. also clomid is a prescription medicine so i doubt if you can buy it online. anywayz i would suggest you consult a RE(reproductive endocrinologist) before you make any other decision. it is always better to get a second opinion.
Avatar f tn i have 15 byetta prefilled pens 10mg for sale as i no longer need them maybe their some one what them and they are all store in cooler/fridge.
