If this is your first dog, I would suggest going to the pet store/book store and getting a book on the general care and living, with a dog.
What you describe as a "french manicure", is normal for a dogs nails. The white/clear part is what is growing past his "finger"....the pink part, so to speak. That is the part that needs to be clipped, just as peoples nails do as they grow out.
But you have to be VERY careful not to accidentally clip the pink part....
It has been about 4 years since I have noticed dark streaks on my nails. They are not as severe as what one would see on a Google Image search, but they exist nonetheless. They have gotten fainter over time and are most prevalent on the thumb finger and large toe. They have disappeared on the middle finger through the pinkie finger.

Hi i have been suffering from weak finger nails all my life and lately i decided to go to a nail technician to apply gel nails in order to have more support for my original nails.. The second possibility would be the finger having been hit and sustaining some damage that causes the nail to grow looking different.
I did have a swaddler you can get them just about anywhere and my daughter loved it. And maybe a pair of mittens, finger nails grow so fast that I cut hers everyday and she still managed to scratch her pretty little face. Oh and lots of sock, little toes get soooo cold and heads to. I always had a hat on her head. The Dr will tell you that the head is the main spot to loose heat. I think that covers it tho.
I have multiple pigmetenrd lines on almost all my nails. The middle finger lines are thicker and blurred, and the 2 toes, 2 little toes and index finger have thicker pigmentation than other nails. I biopsed a nail with not as much pigmentation as the ones mentioned above (my ring finger nail) .It was clear , Im 16 snd i had these from childhood (dont remember when they appeared). im also darlk skinned. Is there a need for a biopsy to check the blurred and wider pigmented nail?

Maybe you should ask your dr they would know better than anybody or maybe buy the kit at walmart and have a friend do it for you thats what im gonna do
Well he could be scratching you with his finger nails but since it's your first time maybe it's your hymen breaking. Other than that I'm not sure so if it's neither his nails or your hymen if it continues go to the doctor.
