The first study showed that the half-life of hydroxybupropion was significantly longer in 8 patients with alcoholic liver disease than in 8 healthy volunteers (32±14 hours versus 21±5 hours, respectively). Although not statistically significant, the AUCs for bupropion and hydroxybupropion were more variable and tended to be greater (by 53% to 57%) in patients with alcoholic liver disease. The differences in half-life for bupropion and the other metabolites in the 2 patient groups were minimal.

I already knew I was bipolar and as did my doctor. The first medication they put me on citalopram, ended up causing really bad halluciantions and to me hearing voices, which I guess stemed from a manic episode (honestly when I go through my manic fits I'm never giddy I"m all irrate/irritable. They ended up putting me on bupropion 50mgs which did nothing for me now I'm going to I think they said 100mg twice a day or possibly 200mgs once a day.

Doctor has tried me on 2 other meds and now I am trying Wellbutrin 150XL. Generic Bupropion.. Only taken it for two days now so I don't know how it is going to work yet. Did I understand that you are taking 150 mg three times a day? Is yours XL? Just curious. How long have you been taking the Wellbutrin? Wish you well. Hope your meds work for you.

The Drug has done wonders when it was added to Effexor and Lexapro for severe Bipolar depression. It had taken me 3 years to get rebalanced and the Bupropion was what finally made the difference. I kept asking people if I was looking older and older, they couldn't tell. I'm not vain but I feel so ugly that I hate meeting new people. So sad because when I not severley depressed I love people. Will this keep excellerating? Does ANYONE have any info or suggestions.

my dr has my info ive been on clonazepam zoloft and bupropion for 3 mnths. not sure meds r even working i still have headaches every day. and still dont want to go outside. i feel stupid.

Hi, Wellbutrin is a bit different from most anti-depressants as it is an NDRI rather than an SSRI. That means it works on dopamine and norepinephrine rather than on serotonin. It can absolutely heighten anxiety and agitation, especially if you are predisposed to having anxiety. It can work very well to treat depression, but there is no component in it that alleviates anxiety at all, and as I said can actually do the opposite.

Other medical/psychiatric conditions I have are hypothyroidism and bi-polar disorder/depression for which I take levothyroxine (Synthroid), divalproex (Depakote) and bupropion (Welbutrin). The medication information for the Medrol dose-pack states cautious use in those with hypothyroidism, psychiatric history, being treated with an anti-convulsant, and on bupropion, as it could produce mood changes and affect the seizure threshold.

My husband has been taking Bupropion HSL SR 150mg for a few months and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the Bupropion XL 150mg he was taking for a few years before he was switched because, the pharmacy said, they could not get the Bupropion XL 150mg at that time. I'm currently on 300 bupropion, along with topamax 100 and still have had no weight losse. I just started the 300 bupropion after being on 150 last week and have already had crying spells but this was the week of my period so I was thinking I just could be "emotional". Before I was on Zoloft 25-150 bupropion but I ate to much on it, I'm hoping for weight loss but every antidepressant I take makes me eat what to do I do??

ive been on the zoloft 200mg for 2 months and bupropion 75mg twice a day for a month and a half. no psychiatrist yet. my doc says i should see one. also he wont raise my clonazepam dosage even though ive told him sometimes they dont work. my bipolar well i think im becoming more aggressive. sayin mean things without thinking.

some fits some better than others. As for me, bupropion is the only one I can take; I have also tried Paxil, Celexa and Zoloft and they all made me feel lethargic, sleepy and in the mood for nothing. Yes, bupropion makes it hard for me to sleep and makes me slightly edgy, but I get the energy and the feelings of motivation. it's really different for everybody. I don't get the tremors etc, though.

I started taking bupropion at the same itme, and suspect the bupropion may have interfered with the initial trial of gabapentin. I need the bupropion for the anxiety associated with Nystagmus, but I know it causes blurred vision and convergence problems. Should I even bother to try memantine? Thanks.

I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?

Bupropion is the generic name for Wellbutrin. Years ago it had some success and I even know a few who quit using it. I would imagine, because it is also an antidepressant it might cause dizziness. I've been on Bupropion for 6 years. I went from 200mgs up to 400. My NPP said it would have the least sexual problems. Well that's not really true. I told her I can't achieve an erection. But flaccid I can ejaculate. I seen my new NPP. She recommended taking Zoloft for my PTSD. Well everything went well, but now it takes me forever to ejaculate. I can masturbate at least 20 minutes and will finally ejaculate. Does anyone have a suggestion as to quicken my time to ejaculate?

I am on 100 mg of bupropion and was feeling a little anxious. Before taking bupropion, when I felt a little anxious my roommate would give me one of his ativan's, but a full 0.5 would make me sleepy…so I cut it down to 0.25 which worked nicely. I have started to do that with the bupropion…is that ok?
