Avatar n tn SSRIs have way too many negative side effects I believe such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction and even increased depression. Another reason why I think bupropion is a much better choice and should actually be the first choice treatment rather than an SSRI. The other thing is that even though bupropion only inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine it does also indirectly increase serotonin as well.
Avatar m tn I have been a regular exctascy (MDMA, Methampetiamine) user for the past 6 months or so and have been suffering from sexual dysfunction that i strongly believe has resulted from this recreational drug use. I was doing some research and found some information about MDMA damaging serotonin which directly influences sexual behavior. My question- I decided to quit MDMA about a month ago, and im wondering if my sex drive and erections will go back to normal over time or if this damage is permanent?
Avatar m tn Wellbutrin, the brand name of bupropion, had the lowest overall rate of sexual dysfunction. It was associated with a rate of 22% of the overall population. The sustained release formulation fared almost as well with a rate of 25%. In contrast, the SSRIs (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft and Celexa), venlafaxine (Effexor) and mirtazapine (Remeron) averaged about 40%. When subjects were removed who had other probable causes of sexual dysfunction, the results were even better.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?
Avatar m tn I've been on Bupropion for 6 years. I went from 200mgs up to 400. My NPP said it would have the least sexual problems. Well that's not really true. I told her I can't achieve an erection. But flaccid I can ejaculate. I seen my new NPP. She recommended taking Zoloft for my PTSD. Well everything went well, but now it takes me forever to ejaculate. I can masturbate at least 20 minutes and will finally ejaculate. Does anyone have a suggestion as to quicken my time to ejaculate?
Avatar m tn My question is, if bupropion causes blurred vision and sexual side effects, is there an alternative for me?
1342640 tn?1276181928 ve pretty much always had a social phobia since i was a child, due in large part, from what i believe, for being ridiculed for most of my childhood for being over weight; which probably does some psychological damage to an 8 year old. I've tried a couple different psychologists over the years, but they never seemed to really help, so i'm deciding to do something with my life, and go on some anxiety meds.
Avatar m tn Now the problem is I have extreme fear of taking SSRis due to horrible stories that I have heard that they may cause permanent sexual dysfunction also known as PSSD ... For that reason I am going to request my doc to prescribe me either TCA or MOAI ... Now my question is does TCA cause PSSD in the same way as SSRIs ... if not I would go for TCAs ...
Avatar m tn Dry mouth, headache, nausea, sweating, somnolence, insomnia, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, pyrexia, sinusitis, rash, pruritus, bradycardia, tachycardia, hypertension, hypotension, spontaneous abortion. would this delay my seroconversion or window period? thx again and sorry for the bother.
Avatar f tn Hi Rebecca - I was on Celexa for about 8 months and I agree it is a good medicine. I, too, was worried about the sexual side effects of it. My doctor put me on 30 mg for about 7 days for it to build up in my system in hopes the side effects wouldn't be as bad. He then upped me to 60 mg. Definitely the sexual side effects can be frustrating especially since the med makes you feel so much better. With me the Celexa just killed my libido and had no desire for anything.
Avatar f tn I have sought answers from many places, but sexual dysfunction is SO vague and people seem to take the cookie cutter approach to treatment. My husband has difficulty maintaining an erection (which I realize is part of the MS). Viagra and Cialis have not helped. Despite all of this, we still have a satisfying intimate relationship. But the real problem is that we are trying to get pregnant and 5 times out of 6, he is unable to ejaculate.
Avatar f tn When you say sexual dysfunction ,do you refer to an erectile and ejaculation problem? Do you experience any pain or deformity during erection or ejaculation? When you say "no erection", does this happen 100% of the time? Do you still get night time erections ? Have you any previous infections or prior surgeries or instrumentation of the genitalia? Any recent pain or problems with urination?
139792 tn?1498585650 This is from archive erectile dysfuntion is not being able to achieve or maintain a full erection for sexual intercourse. if you have erectile dysfunction, you will either not achieve a full erection to penetrate the vagina or you will lose your full erection during sex (before you reach orgasm) all kinds of stuff causes erectile dysfunction.
Avatar n tn Can increase anxiety. For sexual side effects it is used in conjunction with an ssri, not instead of one for those suffering from anxiety, and even then you have to be very careful about increased anxiety.
7001009 tn?1386963933 I know there are a ton of reviews, stories and recommendations regarding generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) usage and duration but my case seems unique and cannot find anything remotely similar to it. I'll keep as short and sweet as possible: - I started on 150mg of Bupropion (Sandoz manufacturer) and had an INTENSE honeymoon starting on the third day. It lasted ~2 days and the effects felt almost identical to that of MDMA.
Avatar f tn Thank u so much for all of u for a real nice advice. I am hoping that my errection problem will be solve. I was real good in sex but almost a year i m facing problems. If any other friend have some thing else to share/advise, please tell.
Avatar m tn If your PSA is normal, one option you have here is to go on Testosterone Replacement Therapy. It will improve your libido and reduce erectile dysfunction. Exercise and lifestyle are also important of course. Dr Andrew Rynne. http://www.doctorrynne.
Avatar f tn Other medical/psychiatric conditions I have are hypothyroidism and bi-polar disorder/depression for which I take levothyroxine (Synthroid), divalproex (Depakote) and bupropion (Welbutrin). The medication information for the Medrol dose-pack states cautious use in those with hypothyroidism, psychiatric history, being treated with an anti-convulsant, and on bupropion, as it could produce mood changes and affect the seizure threshold.
Avatar m tn While it is true that i have always had a relatively strong libido, I wonder if the drug is responsible for a radical increase in my sexual activity. Before the depressive episode, I averaged 2 sexual partners a week. During the depression, I had no sexual partners at all. However, gradually, as I recovered, I escalated to 10 partners a week and frequent masturbation. Does anyone have an explanation for this? And should I be concerned? P. A.
Avatar m tn One of the reasons you might have been put on wellbutrin is that it is known for not having wither weight gain or sexual side effects for most people, and it is also for this reason often combined with an ssri to combat these side effects. I'm not on your stew, but even if someone is, their brain and body won't respond to it the way yours does necessarily -- this is a very individual thing. I would say, if it's working, try it out for awhile and hopefully the tiredness will fade.
