bupropion and citalopram

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

i hv bn on citalopram 120mg. I hv excessive sweating. dr suggested going on bupropion.

The first medication they put me on citalopram, ended up causing really bad halluciantions and to me hearing voices, which I guess stemed from a manic episode (honestly when I go through my manic fits I'm never giddy I"m all irrate/irritable. They ended up putting me on bupropion 50mgs which did nothing for me now I'm going to I think they said 100mg twice a day or possibly 200mgs once a day.

Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?

t hallucinate anymore and these symptoms last but three hours at most. I take 20 mg Citalopram (for panic attacks) and 150 mg Bupropion (for depression). Neither properly treats my symptoms. I feel better when I exercise, though. I haven't told my doctor, who prescribed these medications, that I experienced a two-year long psychotic episode. Should I tell him about this, and tell him what the input of my friends was? Should I quit my drugs?

I am on 100 mg of bupropion and was feeling a little anxious. Before taking bupropion, when I felt a little anxious my roommate would give me one of his ativan's, but a full 0.5 would make me sleepy…so I cut it down to 0.25 which worked nicely. I have started to do that with the bupropion…is that ok?

doc suggested going off of bupropion and switch to paxil. It has been 11 days. still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.

I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well. I guess my question is, is , has this kind of fatigue been know to be a side effect with Effexor?

t know if I should start taking this drug if it is dangerous for me when combining pot and bupropion. I am 17 and 130 lbs if that would help for anything and am taking a dosage of 150 mg of bupropion. I just want to make sure nothing dangerous will happen if I do smoke, or how much I can smoke, or if there is anything I can do to lower risk of danger like not taking the drug on the days I smoke.

Did you try tapering up slowly to your old dose? Not that trying natural stuff is a bad idea, but it's hard to do correctly and as with anything else takes a lot of work and there's no guarantee it'll work. But if you're interested, a good book is Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA who uses natural medicine in her practice.

It is not an over dose and I am no doctor. That is the dosage my doctor gave me in fact he wanted me to take 2 150 mg a day. It didn't agree with me so I stopped... the ringing was even louder. I get ringing in my ears from aleve also , just from 1 pill.,I don't even take that anymore either. Anyway the ringing is driving me crazy so I won't be taking any more of this bupropion sr.

My name is Amy and I'm 26 yrs old. I am trying to concieve and I'm presently not on any medications, however I used to take Lexapro and it works the best for me. I feel as though I'm in great need to be on it again but I am aware that the drug falls under a catagory C (to not take when pregnant) I dont want to put myself at harm so I need to know what anti- depresent to take that would not cause any birth defects or harm to the unborn child.

My husband has been taking Bupropion HSL SR 150mg for a few months and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the Bupropion XL 150mg he was taking for a few years before he was switched because, the pharmacy said, they could not get the Bupropion XL 150mg at that time. t know if they would want to get into adding the names from other countries like Canada and the UK, but we do get a lot of posters from these countries and many of the same meds have vastly different names. Just a thought.

I have also tried Paxil, Celexa and Zoloft and they all made me feel lethargic, sleepy and in the mood for nothing. Yes, bupropion makes it hard for me to sleep and makes me slightly edgy, but I get the energy and the feelings of motivation. it's really different for everybody. I don't get the tremors etc, though.

I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?
