Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.
Avatar m tn then Medicare stopped paying for it, they gave me this for some odd reason I wont take it..i am copd..I been using rescue inhaler and nebulizer.. both these been on most my life.. are these meds close to the same?? I've got it right here..
Avatar n tn Could the illness in conjunction with the bad air done damage to my bronchi, and if so, is it recoverable? 2.Could all this treatment have put my lungs and bronchi in a state of persistent irritation? 3.Could this be COPD?
Avatar m tn I went to a doc who said it was probably asthma and prescribed formoterol/budesonide and montelukast sodium. A few months later, my bedroom was treated for termite infestation, the fumes of which I presumed cleared up after about 4 days. After returning to my bedroom for a few nights, I woke up in a panic with severe SOB.
1431210 tn?1283264699 Had a pretty bad head cold, had a sinus infection and all that goodness. After it was all over, a cough stayed. In the past week or so I've been getting short of breath and I've been experiencing some weakness as well. No gasping, no coughing up anything red or bloody, I occasionally cough up small amounts of green/yellow mucous - usually only in the mornings. No lost appetite. It also seems to get more severe at night, and the cough has mostly subsided.
Avatar n tn Luckily, my pharmacist caught my allergy to methylprednisolone and told me it was the steroid used in budesonide. I wish you good health and I hoped this information helped.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
Avatar f tn Budesonide - this was a new drug in England when I was prescribed it. My then gastro thought it would keep my Crohn's in remission. I was not in a flare when it was prescribed, but got one 2-3 weeks afterwards. Q1: yes, I take it weekly. 12.5 mg self injected. Used to be 25 mg oral tablets, but new gastro switched me to injections as he said he wasn't sure how much of the drug I was absorbing.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
937826 tn?1261333879 I have COPD and Asthma and am on nocturnal oxygen. I also have pain in the middle of my chest, my neck and shoulders. My doctor believes this is my lungs, not my heart. To be safe, I have had stress tests, and a variety of other heart related tests, all come out negative. The difficulty breathing, coughing, and shortness of breath are probably due to COPD, but do you have a pulmonary specialist you can see about it or are you just seeing a GP?
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
620048 tn?1358018235 Hi, Meg. I just did a very quick check and found that both sailorsong and siv1 have COPD. There may be lots of others. If neither of these is the one you're thinking of, go to the Search this Community box (upper right) and type in COPD. You'll get a lot of matches which you then can look at.
Avatar f tn s flare, severe nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss of 18 lbs in last 6 weeks, steatorrhea, pain in mid chest and right upper quadrant. Avatar f tn Weight reduction, if you are overweight or obese, is the optimal health strategy for patients who suffer from COPD. This can be done through a combination of diet, an increase in physical activity and sometimes medication. Weight reduction can help reduce dyspnea, increase exercise tolerance and improve your quality of life. Incorporating pulmonary rehabilitation in to your COPD treatment plan may help you begin an exercise program if you are obese. I hope this helps.
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.

5247698 tn?1374540260 I have both asthma and COPD. My doctor took me off Advair because she said that the little bit of steroid in the Advair conflicts with the TX. My pulmonologist put me on Pulmicort and another liquid that I breath through a nebulizer twice daily. This does not help me any but I still keep doing it hoping that it soon kicks in.
757137 tn?1347196453 I am from Canada, I was diagnosed of Emphysema (COPD) in 2013 and I have tried all possible means to get cured, i even visited pulmonologist but all to no avail, until i saw a post in a health forum about a herbal doctor from south Africa who prepare herbal medicine to cure all kind of diseases including Emphysema, at first i doubted if it was real but decided to give it a try, when i contacted this herbal doctor via his email he sent me the Emphysema herbal medicine through courier service, whe
430381 tn?1203881725 Yesterday, My husband got so short of breath that we took him to the emergency room, they admitted him, They've taken to sets of x-rays, but, won't tell him much of what is going on, the doctor did say he'd be in the hospital for a while, and something about his COPD being asperated or something like that, does anyone know what that is? I'm really starting to worry , because no one is really telling us anything. Is it something we should be very concerned about?
Avatar n tn You will need to consult your doctor who may ask for blood test and an X ray. Lung function tests could further help in evaluation. In the meantime try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi granma, Your cat may also need some medication for her IBS. My cat takes Budesonide in liquid form everyday. She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply :-) Tried the antihistamine last night, can't say i noticed a difference, but then i did fall asleep fairly soon after taking it! I do breathe deeper when exercising, but no more than anyone else i know - what bothers me most is when i feel like im not getting enough air when im just watching telly, talking or eating, hence why i did the spiro.
Avatar n tn What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.
Avatar m tn I take an oral steroid - 8.5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
