Avatar f tn Little is known about the long-term efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We investigated the efficacy of inhaled budesonide on decline in lung function and respiratory symptoms in a 3-year placebo-controlled study of patients with COPD...... Inhaled budesonide was of no clinical benefit in COPD patients recruited from the general population by screening.

Avatar n tn To answer your questions: 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have
Avatar m tn I went to a doc who said it was probably asthma and prescribed formoterol/budesonide and montelukast sodium. A few months later, my bedroom was treated for termite infestation, the fumes of which I presumed cleared up after about 4 days. After returning to my bedroom for a few nights, I woke up in a panic with severe SOB.
1431210 tn?1283264699 Had a pretty bad head cold, had a sinus infection and all that goodness. After it was all over, a cough stayed. In the past week or so I've been getting short of breath and I've been experiencing some weakness as well. No gasping, no coughing up anything red or bloody, I occasionally cough up small amounts of green/yellow mucous - usually only in the mornings. No lost appetite. It also seems to get more severe at night, and the cough has mostly subsided.
Avatar n tn I am regularly using Ventloin, Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC.
Avatar f tn I had a month or so on Entecort (budesonide here in England) but had a severe rectal haemorrhage and was hospitalised on IV steroids and needed blood transfusions. I don't think my gastro in England, who prescribed it, at the time realised that Entecort only works in the small intestine, and I had Pan Crohn's Colitis. As I had stopped prednisone to go onto budesonide, I had no protection in the colon, hence the flare.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with asthma and was prescribed ventolin and budesonide inhalers. After a few days of suffering side effects and getting much worse I went back to the doctor and he confirmed that I am allergic to budesonide, which he said is quite unusual. He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids.
Avatar f tn Budesonide is the generic name, i am on Entocort with contains budesonide, because budesonide is not sold generically in the state of new jersey. I have been on it for about 3 months now, but I was also on it for quite awhile a few years ago. I have never had anything but success with it. there are no side effects. I will be on it for another 2 months and my dr plans to take me off of it.
Avatar n tn Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day. Has anybody ever come through this disease to lead a normal life, or has anyone treated a patient that has done so?
17080824 tn?1453552185 t take any form of drugs. and do not smoke, do not drink and I am a vegetarian. Yes I am inhaling Budesonide Powder to tackle with chronic cough issue. Is it the reason then ? Thank you doctor for your reply and suggestion.
5247698 tn?1374540260 I thought that I had a lung infection but later found out it was a side effect of one, if not all three meds. I have asthma and COPD also. Is there anyone else out there that can`t breath? I am scared of letting my doc know because I don`t want to be taken off the program after all this work. She knows that I`m having trouble but not the severity. Please, if you can, tell me something encouraging or offer advise. Thanks - this board is great.
Avatar n tn Therapy is with bronchodilators which cause the airways to dilate. Your symptoms could also be due to COPD or Bronchitis. You will need to consult your doctor who may ask for blood test and an X ray. Lung function tests could further help in evaluation. In the meantime try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have a dog with IBD and he takes a compounded steroid called Budesonide everyday plus an enzyme supplement called Prozyme and stays on a strict diet of a fish and pot dry kibble. He still flares up every few months with bloody diarrhea which then we start up sulfasalazine 3 times a day which usually calms things down within a few days and after a week or 2 he's back on track.
Avatar n tn He has been on budesonide for 4 weeks with no results. He also takes esomeprazole with no results. When she did the cameraoscopy she saw what she called white fuzz at the beginning of lower intestines. We did a round of fungal meds. No results. Can anyone help please.
Avatar m tn Hi granma, Your cat may also need some medication for her IBS. My cat takes Budesonide in liquid form everyday. She has the other problem of constipation, but I give her miralax. Ask your vet if the Budesonide would be indicated for this condition...I think she sounds like it is pancreatitis or Irritable Bowel. Fairly common in cats. My cat is also on Hills Z/D food only. I know some do not favor this food but it works for my cat along with the Busesonide....so I am a believer.
Avatar m tn 5 mg per day - supplemented by ceretide(similar to advair) 500 - 2 puffs in the morn and 1 at night - and budesonide 160 micrograms - 2 puffs once a day. The thing with oral steroids is that the get absorbed in the body and have been adversely affecting me. I need to get off it, but every time I try to reduce the dosage my asthma tends to get worse. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter?
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? Avatar n tn I have COPD. I caught a mild cold around thanksgiving. I secreted small amounts of clear mucous for about a week. I didn't cough regularly, but I did cough to clear my throat for a few days. I had a very mild sore throat for about a day. I never secreted any mucous with any infection. So my question is whether or not a mild cold like I have described would cause more loss of lung function?
17484539 tn?1580565249 org/diseases-conditions/copd/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20353685 Medicine has come a very long way and COPD IS often treatable. Let me know what has transpired since you posted this.
518117 tn?1429276273 I went for a second opinion with a pulmonologist. Diagnosis of COPD was confirmed. My only sibling a brother at the age of 47 was given the diagnosis of COPD as well. My brother was diagnosed approximately 6 months before my diagnosis. Our mother had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She passed away 4 months after a lung transplant. My mother's only sibling a brother passed away with end-stage COPD and CHF. My mother and her brother never smoked. Me, my brother and son smoked.
Avatar m tn One of the newer suggestions is the use of orally ingested budesonide. You may want to check with your doctor.
