broken leg cast help

I was in a half cast, basically on the back of my leg and below the foot for a touch over a week, so I was unable to move my ankle and leg and was on crutches. Then 2 days ago I went to the outpatients department and the doc took the cast off me and told me to start walking on it with the aid of crutches as it isn't the weight bearing bone. He said that the bone will heal by itself without the cast and even with me putting a bit of pressure on it.

They told me 6 weeks to heal before i get cast off, but i was in a splint style cast for the first week, does that count as one week? and also should nt have the doctor have asked me to come in for check up x-rays just to make sure the bone is healing properly? i live in a small community was treated by a regular doctor a i think.Do u think ill need an aircast after i get regular cast off or is that just optional?

t need surgery and my bone was repositioned and i was put in a cast. I had my sixteenth birthday with a cast on my right leg and i have had to cancel my driving test as i can't drive with a cast on. I will be with a full walking cast for another 2 weeks (its been 5) and then i will have a short walking cast for another 3 weeks. How long after that can i drive again and also how long until i play soccer. I will be going to physical therapy.

She jumped off of a chair and broke her front leg. The vet said the cast would be enough and the surgery is not required. However the x-ray shows that the bones are not aligned perfectly. I understand that he is a professional but I have already had experience with some incompetent vets and cannot rule out this one to be another example. I will probably get an advise from another vet but also want to hear your opinions. Has anyone had the same kind of problem? Here are the x-ray shots.

I try very hard to limit my movement during the day and keep my foot up but still by about 7pm my discomfort is intense with a very tight cast, pain in the leg and numb toes. Is what I am experiencing normal or should I be concerned?

Hi Katie..they took her to the er and they wouldn't help her..they said they don't cast there..It's probably because she already had the splint.. this seems like such a mess..Thanks for your help..

they constantly rotated her legs and stretched them out again to check her hips before fracture was dianosed. then they put a cast on on the bottom of her leg instead of the top. would all of these mistakes have made the fracture worse than it originally was.

Its possible you were put in a "back slab" cast which is soft on one side. This was done to my broken wrist to allow for swelling immediatey after the accident. I then was called back to have a full fibreglass cast on after ten days or so. The reason for going back for the full cast is that as the swelling reduces the cast then may become too lose to support the bones and thus could allow for poor healing.

ll need to go in a cast for 6 more weeks. That means before I can walk it will be 9 weeks from the injury date. All for a broken fibula and sprained deltoid ligament. I think the doctor is being extremely conservative, I need to be weight bearing to get back to work. Does this seem like a rather stiff sentence? Shouldn't it be 6 weeks from the injury date assuming normal healing occurs on the bone?

I broke my fibula in two places above my ankle and the mallelor of my tibula. I had surgery three weeks ago. One week after my surgery, they removed the "soft" cast and put me in a boot with crutches and compression socks to help with the swelling. For those above who were asking about swelling - I believe you can buy these socks at any pharmacy. They also recommended to ice the surgical area..as well to keep any swelling down.

s been in a half cast for 2 months. That arm has excessive hair growing on the broken area...is this because of the tensor/fiberglass cast covering or a result of the surgery and the plate being in my arm? Is there anything I can do to reduce the hair growth?

The Fibula is still broken and has no stability (no hard cast can be applied due to the open wound up the inner side of her leg). Is it normal for the fib not to be stabilized using a fixation or any other means? Also, the Tibia was a crushing fracture; there is a space of just over 2 inches where the bone was crushed. s my story , i had a broken tibia and fibula as well i was trying tio help a female from getting beaten by his boyfriend , it was slippery oitside my right leg went forward and my left leg went backwards and my big ***( lol ) landed on top of my ankle and distored my ankle and broke my tibia and fibula , i went to the hospital where i stayed two nights then on monday i had to go see the bone doctor at the other hosiptal and told me that your fracture was a bad one .

In 2007 I badly broke my leg (my toes were touching my knee bad), I was in a cast for almost my entire seventh grade year and for the first four or so months I had to be in a wheelchair with the cast up to my thigh. I started to be able to move around really well after the first month and about two or so months before they put me in a boot i was able to jump around my house on one leg for very long distances and then eventually walk around on my cast.

Two days ago I fell down my stairs.The top of my foot and both sides of my ankle are swollen and bruised. Yesterday I needed crutches to get around. Today I can limp around, however, it still hurts like crazy. I don't have any medical insurance. How can I tell if it's broken or sprained. I don't have or want to spend the money to see a doctor only to get sent home with a sprained foot/ankle. Please help. I have a 2 yr old that doesnt sit down for anything. I need this to go away.

10 year old boy with recent broken knee growth plate, cast was put on two days ago. Now he is shivering, hot/cold, running a fever and the leg is hot to the touch and he complains the back of the knee is increasing in pain even with ibprofen. ER tonigt or wit for morning and call orthopedist?

t cast it because of the location (the doc said any cast that could help would have to be a full leg cast and that the rehab would even be longer than not casting it) and that the tibia would act like a cast and it should mend in a few weeks. Weeks went by, but nothing showed the fracture closing.

Normally 6 to 8 weeks. Was it specifically the calcaneous that was fractured? And as Dr. Vinod (he's good) said get a proper clinical examination, follow ups are very important when it comes to proper post fracture care. If you were put into a walking cast compliance is of utmost importance for proper healing!

And the hellish anxiety I completely understand. It felt like I wanted to jump out of my skin and take off running and screaming. Fortunately it started to get better, and after the ativan was gone I just dropped it and didn't think about asking for more. Now, I'm not in a long leg cast and can't imagine what it must be like. s physiotherapist three times a week, exercising and trying to strengthen the leg did not help. Nor did massage nor ultrasound. Finally I was able to get an appointment with the Orthopaedic Specialist two weeks ago. The fracture is completely separated, and they cannot explain how that happened. I am most interested in what my options are now. The fracture clinic technician was talking about a magnetizing treatment as a possibility. Anyone know what this is , and how successful it may be?

I fractured the lower part of my fibula near the growth plate one week ago, and was in a Splint for 3 days.
