So, now, I am going to ask if it would be beneficial to do 6 mon. of Boniva and then, resume the Prolia. My next Prolia would be due in March, but my appointment with bone Dr. isn't until April, so there would be enough of a space to be able to start Boniva is the bone doctor thought it was a doable plan. I don't want to be on biophosphates for a long chunk of time because of the side effects long term with them. The hormone therapy is not something that I will even entertain.

My doc did not go over the side effects of these but when I looked up Duavee it looked like hormone meds had severe side effects, one being particularly important to women, the increased risk of uteurus cancer.

I just had my second Prolia injection. This time I noticed a definite increase in urination on the first day post-injection and weakness and mild flu-like symptoms on the second and third days. Is this cause for concern with future injections?

Anyone taking Prolia for osteoporesis have a side effect of joint pain? I have a stiff neck, pain in wrists and ankles, don't know if it's the Prolia, I had my first shot in Dec 2011.

Are you talking about an infusion with Prolia or Reclast? I have had 4 Prolia infusions(injections) over the past 2 yrs. I am on a Medicare Advantage Plan and the only way I could get it covered was to go to the infusion clinic and have it covered under Medicare PART B. It is very important if you have Medicare to specify PART B because it is covered differently.

Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. Your ophthalmologist would be able to tell you right away if you had any uveitis and the Boniva could be discontinued if that were the case.

I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. Does anyone get the Prolia shot for bone density loss due to chemo? If so what is your experience? I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, had partial mastectomy last May, on oral chemo with calcium and Vit D supplements. I already had osteoarthritis and am at the age for bone density loss. Oncologist recommended Prolia shot to combat bone density loss but insurance has denied due to not medically necessary.

I'm a 59 year old woman who has started to randomly and for no apparent reason, gasp for breath. It comes out of nowhere and disappears as quickly as it comes. I've recently discovered that I may have been suffering with side effects from Prolia injections for osteoporosis that's caused some weird bites/blisters/scarring on my forearms so I've discontinued taking it but the skin issues continue. I'm wondering, could the gasping somehow be related?

The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? She does not have any cramping, but they are watery. This all started when she began to take Boniva several months ago. She stopped taking it 2 months ago. in order to treat osteo you need to be on fosmax/ boniva or like substances and have hrt. your doctor you should sue.... because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.

I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign.
