Avatar f tn I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Care should be taken when taking medications for osteoporosis, as there can be adverse side effects and some dental work should not be performed while on it. I have had osteopenia for many years, and my latest bone scan shows that I've actually rebuilt bone, by implementing a regimen of calcium (1200 mg/day, taken twice daily - I take it at noon and 6:00 pm to prevent conflict with my thyroid med), magnesium (200 mg/day, taken at bedtime, moderate exercise.
709686 tn?1277432159 I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.
Avatar m tn If she has ever taken Boniva, she should worry. Google Osteonecrosis of the jaw, many drugs like Fosomax have bad side effects. A friend lost several teeth and parts of her jaw due to this. She eventually had to have cadaver bone to replace the bone she lost, then implants. She should take other types of calcium supplements.
Avatar n tn Good morning, I saw my Dr. this morning and he would like to start taking fosamax, after reading all the side effects i'm not sure i should.
Avatar f tn I called the Drs office today and he said these symptoms could not be from the med. I did research possible side effects a couple of days ago and these can indeed be side effects. Now, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping he would recommend another med to try because on top of the stomach pain I'm having the bladder pain, tiredness and weakness. I guess my question is this. Has anyone had these side effects and if so did they go away?
Avatar n tn hi...I have the same disease as your mom, I have had cortisone shot for hips and another in sept. the first one did help immensley however the effects were short term. It was also recommended I have a 'nerve block' for the spine however I haven't proceeded to this as of yet(leave for last resort) You can get tons of info at this site www.spine-health.
Avatar f tn Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. Your ophthalmologist would be able to tell you right away if you had any uveitis and the Boniva could be discontinued if that were the case.
Avatar f tn I noted that for the last several months whenever I took Boniva I had significant swelling under both eyes. Thus, when this past Sunday, 5/23 I developed the papilloma on my left lower eyelid (center) which at first seemed to have a point on top & next day became more elongated I thought Boniva. I would appreciate any feedback as to cause & what possible treatment. It, not very large & seems to be same size this first week.
Avatar n tn I believe this drug is widely used in India but not in the U.S. There are several drugs available in the U.S. for the treatment of Osteoporosis and all have some value. One with a similar name (Boniva) is used quite often and is said to have good results.
Avatar f tn Hi and I can so relate to your doubts on the mentioned medicines, I have given up on taking any of them and least of all any bisphosphonates the side effects are simply terrible specially Boniva, there is a site about these meds and all the posters are those women who have taken them, you can look it up under "Boniva side effects" or http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21455&name=BONIVA, this is a forum where patients detail the side effects they had.
Avatar f tn The usual reason to do a taper would be to avoid or minimize side effects. If you are tolerating this okay, there may not be a reason to start back up so that you can taper off. Ultimately, you should discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Are the side effects listed on the manufacturer's insert? Maybe talking to your pharmacist would help.
Avatar n tn There can be side-effects from most medications and most surgical procedures. This surgery is no different. If anyone is considering the Nissen, they should sit down with their doc and have all the post-surgical side-effects discussed fully.
Avatar n tn I feel straight up like I have a demon inside me pushing acid and food to the edge of my throat. I feel like I'm choking to death, seriously! Does it get better after taking the PPI's (Omeprazole)? I am against taking any kind of medication and I have refrained from taking medication for years for such things as headaches, or any type of aches or pain but this seems to me life or death. I am seriously choking when I lay down.
Avatar f tn I know some people have said there are no side effects from Cortef and that it's probably my dose is too low, but I now have at least 10 of the side effects listed on the prescription information website. These also all start within minutes of taking a dose (I'm currently taking 25mg). I get headaches, become extremely thirsty, heart pounding, very dizzy and weak, feel like I'm going to pass out.
Avatar f tn Because of my GERD, my doctor prescribed an IV infusion of Reclast. Unfortunately, I suffered some of the side effects, fever, and severe bone pain to the point of not being able to take in a full breath. My doctor was so concerned he put me on a steroid dose pack to reduce the reaction. My body doesn't seem very tolerant of any drugs, couldn't take anything other than extra strength Tylenol for a foot surgery. I will have to figure out something else with an endocronologist?
Avatar f tn I had my appointment today with a surgeon to make arrangemtns to get a large hiatal hernia repaired. The test show that 75% of my stomach is above my diaphragm and the junction between the esophagus and stomach is above the diaphragm. He did not talk that much about post-op care other than I would be on a soft diet for about 3 weeks and would need to be off work 3 to 4 weeks. He gave me a brochure on the surgery. I'm reading it tonight and it is talking about the risk and complications.
Avatar n tn thanks so much for your comment. have you tried any type of natural herb? my brother-in-law has cancer of the esophagus and his doctor said it could have been from the drug that he was taking and the drug was nexium. have you heard about this link of anti-acid medication to cancer?
Avatar n tn m not sure about Reclast, but I do know that Prolia comes with a whole set of possible side effects. I looked into these for my elderly aunt, who had tried Boniva and Actonel, unsuccessfully. It's best to have all dental work done prior to taking these medications, as they cause issues with dental procedures. I don't know the details on that, but they did tell us to make sure she would need no dental work while on the drugs.
Avatar m tn I was on the Hep C therapy, for a little over three months. The side effects were so bad (me personaly) that the doctor took me off them, I did come down to non detectable virus load. I have been off the MEDS, in 2 days, I will be off them for 4 weeks. I was told that it was 4 weeks to be off them and two weeks to get back to were I was before the MEDS. The effects are getting a little better, but they are still strong.
