Common Questions and Answers about Boniva how it works

boniva

Avatar f tn I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
Avatar f tn It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.
Avatar f tn Bisphosphonates like Boniva have been associated rarely with uveitis. You would experience ocular pain, blurred vision, light sensitivity, loss of vision and possibly glaucoma if you had uveitis. Your ophthalmologist would be able to tell you right away if you had any uveitis and the Boniva could be discontinued if that were the case.
Avatar f tn My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. This discussion is related to Atrial Fibulation / Multi-Infarct Dimentia.
212161 tn?1599427282 does anyone take Boniva and how bad were the side effects
1026267 tn?1257591273 If you have had a bone density scan recently and it shows osteoporosis, then it would be wise to take it, otherwise I would wonder about the endo pushing it on you. They might be swayed by your age and automatically assuming you have osteoporosis. If you are doing some weight bearing exersise as well as having calcium in your diet I can't see the need for it, unless as I said, a bone density scan shows you need it.
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Avatar f tn It is a result of loss of estrogen, not only because of cancer and/or chemo. Most women, whether they go through menopause naturally or not, will develop some sort of bone loss issues.
Avatar n tn So, now, I am going to ask if it would be beneficial to do 6 mon. of Boniva and then, resume the Prolia. My next Prolia would be due in March, but my appointment with bone Dr. isn't until April, so there would be enough of a space to be able to start Boniva is the bone doctor thought it was a doable plan. I don't want to be on biophosphates for a long chunk of time because of the side effects long term with them. The hormone therapy is not something that I will even entertain.
Avatar n tn because he perscribed it while having the knowledge of your bone health knowing it decreases the amount of calcium in your bones.
1118724 tn?1357010591 Wow, bacteria growing on alcohol pads! Who da thunk it? Genetech has always been a very stand-up company in my (past medical) experience and I am glad to see that this continues.

Avatar f tn I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. It was really interesting. Seems to be all upside down in the way it works as to the way you would think it did. I alwasys thought when stocks were way up, it was a good thing. I will have to see if I can find it or the link to it so ya all can have a look see.
Avatar n tn She does not have any cramping, but they are watery. This all started when she began to take Boniva several months ago. She stopped taking it 2 months ago. I have suggested that it has not all left her system yet and this may take some time. She has not changed her diet or any meds. She is a creature of habit and eats and does the same things every day. She is 90 yrs old and still very able and mobile.
Avatar m tn But her bone density tests (I think) are fine. One physican gave her Synthroid, another told her to stop. One perscribed Boniva, another said no, cause she is a young lady. Here are her labs. Any comments? Avatar f tn I needed additional views, so I returned three days later for a second mammogram of the left breast only, and it showed a nodule. I had an ultrasound the same day which showed an 8 mm benign cyst and several other subcentimeter benign cysts, some with low internal echoes (what are internal echoes?) I've been on Prempro over 10 years and understand this could be the cause of the benign cysts. For the last couple years or so I've been on a very low dose (0.3-1.5).
Avatar f tn I understand it has a ceiling cap and half life. How does taking 3 doses a day effect you? I mean you take 4mg. It is stored with a half life, when I take my next dose in 8 hours how much do I now have? I know that it caps what does that really mean, just you aren't getting anymore but it is still in you. Please help. I am curious as to how if any this would effect detoxing.

569676 tn?1315641158 Below is an article explaining how and why suboxone works. This was written by Dr. Richard Gracer and is very well written in understandable terms. How Buprenorphine Works Buprenorphine (Subutex) is an FDA approved drug that is used to treat opiate (narcotic) dependence and prevent its relapse, to decrease the withdrawal symptoms when getting off opiates and in some specific circumstances to treat chronic pain.
Avatar n tn Thyroid - not really unless it is killing off your parathyroid glands. Parathyroids are four little bean like glands buried in or near your thyroid They control the calcium uptake. Does your calcium supplement include vitamin D? Vitamin D is necessary for your body to absorb the calcium. Also, how old are you? My bones won't absorb enough calcium because I have no estrogen, had two parathyroids removed, and am on very high doses of thyroid replacement.
