Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have noticed that recently I have a lot of pain in my teeth and jaw. This has prompted me to wonder if osteoporosis affects the teeth in general as they are inbedded in bone? And how so?
Avatar n tn HOW CAN I SUE DEPO PROVERA WHICH I WAS ON FOR 8 YEARS AND BY AGE 25 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE OSTEOPOROSIS AND I AM 29 NOW AND CONTINUE TO BREAK BONES IN JUST SIMPLE ACTIVITIES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND CANT FIND ANY ONE TO TAKE THE CASE?
Avatar n tn Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis. I have thought about this long and hard since getting my DEXA result.
Avatar n tn for the treatment of Osteoporosis and all have some value. One with a similar name (Boniva) is used quite often and is said to have good results. Since we deal strictly with Breast Cancer issues on this Community you might look at the top of the page under "Health Information" where you will find a subtitle "Osteoporosis" and post there or read other posts and comments. Regards ....
Avatar f tn I developed osteoporosis (only 52) and my gyno-onc had me see an endocrinologist. I now take Boniva- once monthly plus a mult-vit, calcium, and vit-D twice a day. My last scan showed improvement. He wanted me to go on hormone replacement but my gyno-onc would not hear of it.
Avatar f tn The technician looked at my med list and asked if I am taking Boniva and Synthroid. I answered yes. I take other meds other than those two she mentioned. I told her that I understood why she asked about the Boniva but I didn't understand why she asked about Synthroid. She told me that thyroid meds take from the bones and causes osteoporosis. WHAT??? How come no doctor ever told me?
Avatar f tn Doctor gave me an antibiotic but again next week it recurs. Body aches mostly knees and ankles [ i suffer through osteoporosis and joint pains too but the pains were not troublesome earlier] Can anyone tell is it viral or anything else.
Avatar n tn I recommend checking out the website "Save Our Bones". It is an alternative to using bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, et al) These drugs interrupt the remodeling of bones by adding a "sheath" or layer of hardening to the outside of the bones in an effort to prevent bone "loss". Bones remodel (replace) naturally every few years. One of the problems with bones is our diets are often highly acidic by processed foods.
Avatar f tn Hi and I can so relate to your doubts on the mentioned medicines, I have given up on taking any of them and least of all any bisphosphonates the side effects are simply terrible specially Boniva, there is a site about these meds and all the posters are those women who have taken them, you can look it up under "Boniva side effects" or http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21455&name=BONIVA, this is a forum where patients detail the side effects they had.
Avatar f tn I monitor this site for info on my eye condition. I do not know if the papilloma specifically is related, but Boniva and drugs like it can cause swelling around the eyes as you describe. Just read any website discussing adverse effects of Boniva. I think it worth discussing with your doctor. You should be very aware and cautious of any facial swelling while on Boniva.
Avatar f tn I heard yesterday that Boniva would cause eye disorders called uveitis and sleraderma? Does this bone medicine cause eye problems? I have an eye disorder called Fuchs cornea dystrophy and have recently had cataract surgery in both eyes ;however one eye keeps feeling irritated.
Avatar f tn It is now diminishing in size and I am hopeful it will vanish but I hesitate to continue on Boniva.
Avatar f tn The dexa scan showed a serious amount of osteoporosis in my spine with osteopenia in my hips and wrist. I did 5 years of Boniva, Caltrate and extra vitamin D. Two years later I went from a score of -3 in my spine to 1.6. I now have no evidence of osteoporosis or even osteopenia. I took the boniva for 5 years. I hate to admit it, but I do not exercise so we can't say exercise helped. It was all the boniva. I continue with the Caltrate.
212161 tn?1599427282 does anyone take Boniva and how bad were the side effects
Avatar f tn But she had my medical records showing I was on the Boniva, Vit. D and calcium. My osteoporosis was being monitored by my rheumatologist. This doctor was so adamant on me going back on the Prempro even when I told her nurse I wanted an alternative for the hot flashes and did not want to continue the Prempro. So much for the doctor listening to the patient. It's been eight weeks since I've stopped. The hot flashes definitely are less since using the homeopathic Menopause Relief.
Avatar f tn I was taking the hormones to help my bones, as I have osteopenia and rheumatoid arthritis. I am on prescription drugs to help the bones (Boniva and calcium and vit. d). I'm worried about breast cancer with continuing the hormones. I had a partial mastectomy on my right breast which was benign. I had a cluster of microcalcifications which looked supicious, but turned out to be benign (big sigh)! Okay now my question.
Avatar f tn I take Nexium and Carafate(Sucralfate). I had changed to Previced but felt Nexium was better. The Sucralfate is great because it acts as a bandade on any inflamed tissues. I have been taking PPI's for SOOO many years and at high doses. No doctor ever told me that a person can get osteoporsis from it. PPI's do not absorb calcium. I found that these doctors just hand the scripts out for this med like candy. I have osteoporisis. Also am on Vit.
605893 tn?1220181685 Osteoporosis is most common in women after menopause, when it is called postmenopausal osteoporosis, but may also develop in men, and may occur in anyone in the presence of particular hormonal disorders and other chronic diseases or as a result of medications, specifically glucocorticoids, when the disease is called steroid- or glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.
Avatar m tn Osteoporosis is a common condition where the bone becomes thin and fragile, creating an increased risk of fracture. Osteoporosis is usually painless until a fraction takes place, and osteoporosis is a major contributing factor to bone fracture, including hip fractures, which are more common as people age. There are almost 2 million hip fractures annually around the world. While in the U.S.
