Avatar m tn I had a medical check up last Friday for sugar test. This is requirements for a basketball tournament here. So more than 100 people had a medical check up last Friday.May concern only are I’m the last person to gone for a check up... They use like a pen with the needle (Terumo Medisafe Lancet For Fine touch (Its Syringe and Hollow Needle) to ***** the skin so the blood will come up and they will use the apparatus for sugar test... If the nurse is tired and forgot to change the lancet.
Avatar f tn They draw your blood, you drink the solution, wait 30 minutes, and draw your blood again. Needle is only in your arm for 30 seconds each time.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

11165184 tn?1429569382 I have my first prenatal visit coming up on Tuesday and I am very nervous about the routine blood work they do. I had it done with my first, but with my second I only did the anemia test at 28 weeks. I have always had an intense fear of needles (my first 2 were unmedicated home births). Has anyone opted out of all routine blood work including the initial ones? How did your doctor respond to it?
Avatar m tn Today I went for a routine blood test to check how my liver enzymes are functioning and renal profile etc, I had my blood taken but there were two issues that concerned me, the first being that the man who took my blood touched the needle directly and that concerned me in a scenario where he had some blood on his fingers and it went on the needle and then entered my bloodstream, and the second concern being that after he took the needle out he pressed on my bare wound with bare fingers with no g
Avatar m tn You are right I am sorry and I am so confused. It is a test glucose test for sugar in your blood, and I know that no one will reuse a used needle but I did not see him open it and the needle was unprotected....
Avatar m tn l last had a full blood test three years ago and was normal , A few month ago my doctor gave me a finger prick test and he said it was normal , does that prove l dont have diabetes or do l need to take a full blood test where they take blood with a needle in your arm, l hate that. Also l bought a Dus 10 urine strp home test kit .
Avatar m tn Your story made me think of a time when I freaked after having a blood sugar test done at a pharmacy. It was part of a help fair and I had it tested for the heck of it and afterwards I was freaking out thinking that the same pin was used on another person. I think I may have even called and asked about it for reassurance. My boyfriend told me that although it was POSSIBLE it is not PROBABLE. I tend to remind myself of these things - in this suituaiton or others alike.
Avatar f tn Your anxiety seems to be in overdrive. Your test needle was no reused. A blood draw is also NOT an injection and a needle poke does transit HIV. SHARING injection needles is not a blood draw. Period. Air at the end of the needle inactivates any chance of HIV. This is non risk and you are already aware of what the risks are. Please talk to someone about your anxiety.
Avatar m tn Finally, he pulled out a long lancet which looked like a high lighter and said he was going to test my blood sugar. At this i told him i did not want to be poked by a lancet. He assured me that a new lancet needle will be used. He then took off the cap threw out the old needle and inserted a new lancet needle and closed the CAP. He then poked my finger next to my pinky which drew blood which he smeared on a strip and placed into what looked like a stop watch and tested my blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I'all be 32weeks on tuesday nd I'm going to take my glucose test tomorrow yes I know I'm kind of late doing it but I switched doctors. So my question is what can I eat where it won't cause my sugar to go up nd I have to take the 3hr test because I really don't want to do that. What happened with your own experiences at your test. Did you throw up the drink? Was it nasty? What does it taste like?
Avatar f tn I have mine blood sugar test in 2 days. I'm so nervous. Any suggestions ...
Avatar m tn On Saturday I got myself a blood test to test my Blood Sugar level which turned out to be well within limits. I was pricked by a needle to draw my blood sample which I am not sure was unused. The reason I say this is becuase I did not see the nurse opening a new needle before using on me. On Monday evening I had developed a rash (very similar to the one you are supposed to get when you get HIV). I have never got a rash in my life and this is the first time.
Avatar n tn It is like syringe needle.(it is like a needle to take a blood and put in a tube but it is only small one)...But i already try to take a test to myself and i found that even 3 seconds that lancet prick in my skin there is no mark of blood... If will not change your answer...Please Last post for this thread..
Avatar m tn A needle that is a risk gets injected into deep muscle/tissue or into the blood stream. This is a simple prick to get blood that is under the skin. No path for infection.
Avatar f tn Here is what you need to know. You only get HIV from having unprotected vaginal sex or unprotected anal sex or sharing IV needles to inject drugs. That's it. AIR inactivates the virus. You seem to know this which makes me wonder if you have been here before. But your anxiety is not under control. You can not get HIV from a needle prick finger sugar test and running it through the machine. You don't need to test.
Avatar m tn so i am very much worried whether she would have injected me with infected syringe and needle ..and prickled with me in infected needle(already used needle for sugar test) ..after this horrible incident one day later i had gone to hiv test and resulted negative..but i heared we have to wait for 3 months for test to get accurate result..i dont have any bad habbits this incident is killing me i cant sleep well...please help me....
Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.

Avatar f tn Oh... They draw your blood, then draw your blood again in an hour then again in another hour if you're doing the two hour. If it's a three hour test then one mere draw after another hour. You get your blood drawn, then sit and wait... No drinking anything but water, no chewing gum, no eating a mint and my fave they remind you of is no smoking haha duh I'm pregnant I'm not gonna smoke! Then you're done.
