1831849 tn?1383228392 Plegridy, Biogen IDEC's new version of Avonex, has been delayed by the FDA. They have extended the review period without asking for additional studies. Plegridy is Avonex on a less frequent dosing schedule. http://www.reuters.
Avatar m tn I've been using an Avogrip to help inject Avonex for many years. For reasons I'm unable to explain, I sadly have lost mine and am looking to find a replacement. Biogen Idec has not been any help, and I recently discovered the groups like MSWorld disallow postings along these lines. It's just a little bit of plastic, and it helps me quite a lot! Seems more than silly that it would be so difficult! Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar m tn Biogen, the makers of Avonex, offers financial aid for those who cannot afford the drug. Call them at 800-456-2255. The other DMD drug makers offer aid as well. So a site with discount coupons shouldn't even be necessary for a DMD, and I would be wary of it for anything else. I'm curious what the site is, and why they wouldn't answer your questions.
488198 tn?1493875092 No big surprise there. The message also said that Biogen would be bringing the Avonex Pen into the market about May 1, and that of course their www.avonex.com website would be updated as things progress.
2015036 tn?1332997788 Some of you probably received the same email I did. Biogen sent me an email saying they could now help people get financing, even if you're on a Medicare plan. So far, only Biogen is working with Medicare patients. There's a lot of paperwork involved, but it look like I'm finally going to start a DMD again. All of Biogen's MS meds are available for the program: Avonex Plegridy Tysabri Tecfidera It's worth calling about.
1475492 tn?1332884167 Torikat, are you taking Avonex or Rebif? Avonex is injected into muscle and (I believe) only approved for self-injection using the thigh. Sidesteps, I do think you should (at a minimum) call the nurse who does your injection teaching. A review of technique and sites never hurts. With an exam and live review the nurse might be able to discover the reason you have had problems since starting to use the auto-injecting technique.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been taking Avonex for 6 yrs on and off. I stopped for 2 yrs when I had my third child and have been back on it for the past 2 1/2 yrs straight. I was diagnosed in 2005 and have been fortunate to have little to no changes in my MRIs. That is until I recently experienced vertigo which triggered an order for some MRIs. I have a new active lesion in my brain and one in my spine. My doctor thinks tysabri would be a great next choice.
Avatar f tn I would call my neuro pronto and/or biogen/idec, the makers of Avonex. I think they have someone on call to answer questions. Even the place where you get your Rx should have someone who can answer your question. Best wishes! I sure hope it clears up soon! That must be miserable!
Avatar f tn I had forgotten that Plegridy even exists, so I looked it up for more info. Turns out it is made by Biogen Idec, who also make and market Avonex and Tysabri. It is a kind of interferon, and is administered via injection every two weeks. The doses are stepped up, with full levels reached after several weeks.
488198 tn?1493875092 An MSWorld user "zeldaz" lost her Avogrip, a plastic piece that clips to an Avonex syringe and makes it easier to handle. Apparently they are no longer available from Biogen. The draconian forum admins there deleted offers to send "zeldaz" a new, unopened one. If "zeldaz" sticks her nose in here, send me a PM.
Avatar f tn ) Also, Avonex is only once a week. Biogen Idec, maker of Avonex, is also offering Plegridy, which sounds exactly like Avonex but maybe shallower shot, and I believe only once every 2 weeks. You might read up on this. My neuro is not big on Gilenya, because of possible cardio effects, though for me that could be age-related, as I'm now about 500 :-) I don't know much about Aubagio, and it isn't often discussed here.
1475492 tn?1332884167 Biogen won't be open until Monday, they won't really give advice but I suspect they would send a replacement dose, and you would send the defective unit back. In the meantime, if you are absolutely sure no medicine went into your body, I think you could try another Pen tonight. Or maybe there is a way to salvage the unused dose and inject manually.

Avatar f tn have their own websites - Avonex is madeby biogen and they have some really good resources on their website so be sure to check that out. Determining progression is difficult - even us as patients have trouble figuring those answers. Do you feel different? Are you able to do less ? Are there new symptoms or just return of older ones? You should be able to talk to your neurologist or the nurse inthe office about these questions if you see an MS Specialist.
1831849 tn?1383228392 First is some good news for Avonex and Rebif users. It looks like Biogen-Idec is going to be seeking marketing approval for monthly dosing later this year. http://www.medpagetoday.com/Neurology/MultipleSclerosis/36993?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=medpage%2Biphone%20app Second is kind of a double edged sword. The FDA has approved over the counter sale of Oxytrol, a drug aimed at overactive bladder. They have approved it for sale to women bu not men.
5112396 tn?1378017983 Biogen (the makers of Avonex, Tysabri, Tecfidera, Rituxan, Pelgridy and the clinical trail I'm on) and Google (their Google X division) have teamed up to research certain aspects of MS. It appears to be aimed at gathering data on the disease's advancement with a view to hypothesising why the disease course varies so radically, though the exact terms haven't yet been laid out. I'll be watching this one. I found the press release on MS-UK.
649926 tn?1297657780 Hi! I am sorry for all of you that are also suffering hair loss. As if we don't have enough to deal with! My family thought that I was making a big deal out of nothing until I washed my hair and ran my hands through and came away with a full hand of hair. We are not talking your usual hair loss here!
233622 tn?1279334905 But Avonex is a great drug at preventing relapses and you have to keep fighting. Avonex needs time to work and get calmed down in your body. Your doctor will tell you that. Keep pre-medicating and make sure that medication is warmed up to at LEAST room temperature before you inject. That's SO important. Take your shot at night, so you sleep through most of your side effects, if you aren't already doing so. You gonna do this LA...we are behind you. Please hang in there...
2047903 tn?1330187549 All of the CRAB (copaxone/rebif/avonex, betaseron) drug companies have patient assistance programs, if they are needed. I recommend calling your insurance first though, to see what their preferences are- because with mine, they wanted me to try certain ones first, before they would agree to pay for the others. I have know idea why, and neither did the agent I was speaking to. There aren't any generics available for these drugs. With a prescription from your doctor, you should be okay.
233622 tn?1279334905 ONCE YOU GET STARTED IN AVONEX, BIOGEN (AVONEX MANUFACTURER) WOULD HAVE AN ARMY OF EMPLOYEES AND EVEN MSERS IN THEIR PAYROLL, WHO WOULD GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS. THEY HAVE AN EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. THESE EMPLOYEES DO HAVE VAST KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE CONDITION, TREATMENT AND BETTER WAYS TO COPE WITH DAILY LIFE. THEY ARE JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY.
