Biaxin treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Biaxin treatment

biaxin

Avatar f tn I just finished a completely herbal treatment for bartonella. Same symptoms as yourself. The way I described it was my feet felt like they had been chopped off at the ankle and I was walking on my bare ankles. It was very painful. My doctor and my herbalist work together and have been a life saver for me. Back in 2006 I went on IV with an LLMD, in my 6th week of IV, I suffered a complete brain stroke. Was hospitalized for 6 weeks. Was released still symptomatic.
Avatar m tn Biaxin (clarithromycin) is an antibiotic related to azithromycin which is widely used to treat STIs however biaxin is not well studies for STI treatment or prevention. As a result, while it is likely that biaxin may be effective against common bacterial STIs, there are not good data to say this with confidence. Most women do not have STIS and it is unlikely that your partner had and STI or if she did, you may not have acquired one.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
Avatar f tn ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
Avatar n tn May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
1138687 tn?1548643978 A different doctor changed my prescription from Doxy to Clarithromycin, as I work outside but told her I am managing the sun well as I cover up thoroughly. Well I am not even working that much during meds as they drag me down so i can certainly get away with Doxy.
4939681 tn?1361299299 ve just read good and bad things regarding it and Lyme and coinfection treatment. Anyone have experience or know about plaquenil and what to expect? I'm getting nervous now.
Avatar f tn My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar n tn Hi, antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for 2 weeks, have been the recommended first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) is also an appropriate first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin.
90270 tn?1199334469 twice daily for two weeks, and will take one more week of this dose and then go to 250 mg. Biaxin for 30 days with two refills. I bought Biaxin, no generic. My son played racquetball with my husband last night and for the first time did not have to stop to recover his breathing. We are feeling very hopeful that this may be the cure we have looked for. I told our doctor that after this round of antibiotics that I would be asking for more if I felt we were making progress.
4939681 tn?1361299299 I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?
723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
Avatar f tn Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7. I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme. I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. I am wondering if these two drugs are particularly targeting cysts and spiros in my brain.
Avatar m tn I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
1464587 tn?1307491605 the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....
Avatar f tn Please help me as I'm supposed to start a new regimen of meds for lyme. Currently on biaxin, omnicef and about to add plaquenil. I've read good things about it but also bad side effects. Can anyone please help me with this. I don't want to take anything that has really bad side effects. I'm doing well with my progress and back to work and the four week flares are starting to get better but still there.
Avatar n tn - HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months - STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection. All test were negative.
Avatar m tn My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
Avatar f tn pylori infection have no symptoms and will never develop problems. No single drug cures H. pylori infection. Treatment involves taking several medications for 7 to 14 days. Some of the treatment regimens use a medication called metronidazole (Flagyl) or clarithromycin (Biaxin). These medications can cause a metallic taste in the mouth. You will need to consult a gastroenterologist for adequate therapy. Regards.
