I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
- HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months
- STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing
Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection.
All test were negative.
My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am.
It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down.
I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue.
Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?

I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked.
5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs.

Exactly 3 days later I started feeling like a flue. I think it could be Tonsillitis now but am quiet not sure. Its that 10 day and so far no fever or any other symptom besides weight loss and mild diarrhea. Is that a sign of ARS? Can it be Acute HIV?
About a week ago I found I was having difficulty swallowing, as I knew it would take a while before I could get in to see my regular doctor I went to a walk in clinic. The doctor there looked at my tonsils and told me I had tonsillitis (he also did a throat swab). He said he could see little while bumps on my tonsils and prescribed anti biotics.
It is unlikely that you have acute tonsillitis due to acute HIV infection. Tonsillitis can be noticed when the immune status in the body gets low and is generally noticed during the later stages. At these stages, the number of days the symptoms would last would depend on the immune status and would vary from person to person.
However, it is not uncommon for HIV infection to present with ENT symptoms.
I still was not feeling well, so went to the dr. again on Saturday and she said I was really congested and had tonsillitis and gave me Omnicef. Today is Wedensday and I am really not feeling that much better and still have the white patch on my tonsil. Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?
Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Recurrent tonsillitis is an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections. Also, sometimes persistent enlargement of the tonsil can sometimes be due to a lymphoma. So, if it is not responding to max, medical treatment, then tonsillectomy is the option.

ve routinely checked my throat and today there is a small white dot on my right tonsil. Am I getting tonsillitis? If so what home treatments can I use to cope with the painful swallowing?
And you could have oral thrush and be confusing it with tonsillitis. Go see your doctor and get checked for tonsillitis, and if you have tonsillitis (and if it is the bacterial kind and not the viral kind) when he or she gives you a prescription that will probably take care of both ends.
May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
