Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.
They put me on Biaxin and told me to rest. I have been on Biaxin now for a little over two weeks and I am almost finished with the pills. My period was supposed to come on Nov. 28th or 29th and still hasn't showed up yet. I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms like spotting, breast tenderness, or sickness other than headaches that I usually get. The only time I had sex without a condom was on Sat.
I also forgot to mention that prior to this I was a half a pack a day smoker. Since this I have increased to alomst a pack a day (Nerves). I am trying to convince myself that the irratation from the deep throating along with the increase in smoking is causing my symptoms. The dryness and sore left side of neck just don't fit.
I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
Due to this increased weight loss and our primary doc doing no testing whatsoever, had a cardiologist I work for look at him, he diagnosed with H pylori and prescribed 2 week triple pack. Also ordered CT chest which showed diffuse emphysematous changes and localized area of parenchymal opacity suggestive of a region of prior infection with scarring and calcification. Superimposing mild ground glass density in this area also raises possibility of a superimposing acue process.
- HIV at 7 weeks, 15 weeks and 9 months
- STD test for Clymidia and gonnerea at about 8 months after (this was a urine test) I was concerned cause I peed about 1 hour before testing
Since these exposure I have been on Biaxin for 10 days at 500mg twice a day, Amoxicillian 500mg 3 times a day ( I have been on this twice as I have a saliva gland issue for a number of years. I was also on Cipro 500 twice a day (I think) for a sinus infection.
All test were negative.
My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am.
It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down.
I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue.
Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?
Next tx was medrol dose pack. The wheezing disappeared for a couple of days, then returned. I then developed a metallic taste in my mouth when I cough. 1 wk ago, (May 22) I woke up with fever, chills, muscle aches, and killer sore throat. I was told my CBC showed my white count sky high and was placed on Biaxin. I've been on Biaxin for a week now and all other symptoms are gone except the wheezing, coughing, and metallic taste.
ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?
He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?
I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked.
5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs.
Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.
May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. Would this have cured anyt sti? Sorry for long question doc just want everything answered at once.
I have been taking Biaxin for 5 days and have experienced the worst side effects i have ever had in my life! Nausea, headache, depression, crying outbursts, metallic taste, and wanting to sleep all day are the main ones. I have never felt depressed like this in my life. A feeling of sadness has taken over my body the past 5 days and it is miserable. Can somebody tell me why?? I stopped taking it today because I have had enough, I want my life back.
I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
