I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?
It can cause all of the generalized symptoms found in Lyme Disease and certainly all of the symptoms that you listed, and more. Mycoplasma species are difficult to test for, and this usually requires a PCR test on blood leukocytes (white blood cells). Only a few commercial labs, such as VIP Labs of Reno, know how to test for Mycoplasma infections, and even labs that are very good at Lyme testing, such as Igenex Labs, can’t do the Mycoplasma testing.
I never had any problems with anger or depression prior to getting Lyme disease, but that is who I am now. I fly off the handle over the stupidest things that seem like life or death to me at the time. There is that irrational thought. I am a 38 year old grown woman with a license to practice registered nursing and I drove my car down a walking path because I needed to get my daughter out of the rain.
In the meantime, my PCP ordered a lyme test from Igenex, which showed positive for 31 and 41 bands on the IgM test. My PCP believes it is Lyme based on this test, and prescribed 6 months of Ceftin, Biaxin, and Plaquenil.
My questions are these. What are the chances this is myelitis like neuro suggests, or does this seem more like MS? I live in Maryland and could go to the MS clinics at Johns Hopkins or University of MD; at what point do I consider this?
I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia.
I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Is the bullseye rash always a sign of lyme disease or does that happen with any tick bite? Can you go years and years without ever knowing you have lyme disease? I have taken antibiotics during my lifetime would that just automatically get rid of the disease or does it go away on it's own?

My LLMD prescribed it for me along with Biaxin, which is used to treat intracellular Lyme and Bartonella. He said that the Plaquenil makes the body more alkaline, which allows the Biaxin to more easily penetrate infected cells. He said P makes Biaxin up to 40% more effective.
And so, that might explain why P helped your fingers, but not permanently. P eases inflammation, but does nothing against an infection.
I was treated for 7 months with two different "protocols" One was Doxy and the other was Biaxin/Flagyl.
My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
