I think I may have inadvertently caused the gut irritation by taking magensium oxide supplements ... and I'm going to see a gastroenterologist next week just to see if he agrees and then maybe I can go back on the Flagyl, 'cause it was REALLY working for me. (I do dread having the "I have Lyme ..." conversation with the gastro guy....

As I understand Methadone is broken down by an enzyme which is greatly retarded by Clairithromycin, this ay cause an overdose to occur in the user. I have been taking Methadone for 5 years now (was at 180mg/day now at 10mg/day) can I safely take the Clairithromycin? I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?

It was paired with Biaxin. My doc explained that it made cells more alkaline which made the Biaxin more effective at penetrating cells to get at the Lyme or Bartonella inside. He said it could make Biaxin up to 40% more effective. He did warn me about the potential vision issue but that it was very rare. He said I'd need regular eye exams while on it, about every few months.

I am so scared I have caused damage to my liver. After I get off of these will it repair itself or am I in trouble. The only syntom I have right now is welling in my akiles and feet. But i have taken fluid pills for the fluid for yrs before I started taken lorcet.

I have been taking Darvocet for about two years now. I began just taking one a week at night after a bad day and it has progressed to 1-3 daily for about 6 months now. I went to the Dr. for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet?

The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..

I have never been to hospital, I dont appear to have yellowing of the skin or eyes. What is the likly hood of damage to my liver, and if stoped now could my liver possibly recover from and damege.

Hard to say but if he stops attacking the liver with alcohol, no further damage should be done and some of those numbers should go down at least a little.

My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

I thought he was looking for antibiotics that are safe for people with liver damage. I have cirrhosis, my doctor just gave me a z pack. I know Rex is very anxious and was trying to help him.
