I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?

My boyfrined has been having CT, PET, and breathing tests for cancer and a biopsy of a tumor between his lung and heart and it came up as malignant. He is now going to have another CT for possible pancreatic cancer since the lymph nodes showed up questionable but nothing really apparent in the pancreas area. He had come down with pnemonia which started this examination and I wondered if that might be left over from that and a cold he got after that also.

I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?

ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?

He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?

I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked. 5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs. Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.

May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.

the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....

Why is it that taking oral antibiotics (leviquin, biaxin and now Z pack) seem to give me spells of palpitations--rapid/pounding heart beat? This is listed as a side effect, but I'd like to know if there's a chemical explanation. I am a 49 year-old female runner w/ normal resting hr of about 50-55. I have a history of PAC's and PVC's but nothing serious.

I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. I have been taking Biaxin for 5 days and have experienced the worst side effects i have ever had in my life! Nausea, headache, depression, crying outbursts, metallic taste, and wanting to sleep all day are the main ones. I have never felt depressed like this in my life. A feeling of sadness has taken over my body the past 5 days and it is miserable. Can somebody tell me why?? I stopped taking it today because I have had enough, I want my life back.

I am 3 months pregnant and am prone to sinus infections and it seems the only antibiotic that works for me is biaxin. I have a sinus infection now, is it safe to take biaxin 2 pills together for ten days?

I was on Biaxin alone for 3mos and felt semi normal which for me is great. LLMD added Doxy and it has made all my symptoms come back worse than before. I want to quit the doxy but im told to just ride it out. I am wondering what exactly Doxy helps with? I kno biaxin helps with Bartonella for example. But what does Doxy do exactly for someone with late stage chronic lyme?

Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.

All was well until a couple weeks ago when I got sick and my PCP put me on Biaxin(antibiotic) and Predisone for 7 days... Heartrate see-sawed up and down and would hover between 89-120 all day long... Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7.
