Hi, I am taking several drugs for a heart condition (Coumadin, Amiodorone, Pravastatin, Carvedilol, Terazosin, Diovan, Aspirin). Is it possible that heart drugs can cause hearing loss? If so - is the hearing loss permanent? Thanks for your help.

Prinmary Dr put me on Biaxin due to blood work taken at hospital showing normal WBC count but slightly elevated neutrophils and more decreased lymphocytes. Started Biaxin yesterday; slight improvement, fever last night 100 instead of 101, but headache still gets very strong during the night, had to finally take ibuprofen again at 2am; rash is expanding to trunk. Anybody have any idea of what may be going on?

Two years ago I had my hearing tested by an ENT. He said I had 40% hearing loss and that it was probably genetic and I should check into hearing aids. If your daughter's "moderate" loss is in the 30-40 dcb range, it's time she look into aids. And yes, a 5 dcb loss in one ear is significant enough to keep it monitored. For approximately 1 month I have been experiencing a partial loss of hearing in my right ear. It feels to me like a blockage of some kind. In the end, if your hearing loss is permanent, and if there is some residual hearing left, a hearing aid can be worn, to help you hear better, and it will diminish the tinnitus. That said, hearing aids are not a cure for either tinnitus or hearing loss. One more note, I hope they use contrast with the MRI, other wise the MRI will have little diagnostic value.

After cold of 3-4 days, I observed problem of low hearing especially while chewing or eating food. The ent I went to ordered an MRI and called to tell me that it showed nothing and just blew me off! He obviously is not taking my situation seriously. I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. Took Clarithromycin (Biaxin) for 7 days: This is a strong antibiotic so read up on all side effects. I can tell you one of the side effects is nightmares so don't take this med when going to sleep. And it's alway good to take some probiotics when taking antibiotic.

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!
