Common Questions and Answers about Biaxin and mrsa

biaxin

Avatar m tn I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?
Avatar m tn If I was infected with any of the above, would an 8 day course of Biaxin resolved these? And yes it was 8 days and not the usual 10 for whatever reason. 2. I've read on this site that most of these STD's resolve themselves within a few months even without treatment, but other medical and government websites specifically say the exact opposite and say only way to get rid of infection is to seek treatment. Which is it?
Avatar n tn I had 2 women perform oral sex on me and about 2-3 months later I had a chest cold and my doctor gave me biaxin 2x500mg a day for 10 days. then a few months later had amoxicillian 3x500mg a day for 10 days for another unrelated infection (my docs loves to give antibiotics) If I did get a std like gonnerea or clymidia or anything else that is bacterial would the biaxin get rid of it?...keep in mind I have had no unprotested sexual intercourse just received oral from a women.
723952 tn?1231857532 they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.
1237007 tn?1267979222 Schiano, Rene has been admitted twice to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with pneumonia (the first time) and now, with MRSA related lung condition. He is being treatd with Vancomyzion and Zofyn. Naturally this compromises his transplant, but I am very worried about the implications in terms of him being able to fight this off, and get better for his transplant. We have a living donor who is very close to getting the go-ahead from the team.
1464587 tn?1307491605 the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....
Avatar n tn He has 2 boys from his previous marriage. The youngest has a lot of skin issues and has contracted MRSA. Since meeting my husband, we have all had bouts with boils caused by MRSA. We've tried just about everything.. and we really just deal with them now. Get on antibiotics, put the mupirocin in the nose, etc. I had a couple boils over a year ago.. then didn't have anymore for probably 10 months.. then here in the past 3 months..
Avatar n tn I have had surgeries yearly since 2004. I had complications with my bariatric surgery and ended up with MRSA. I have had my gall bladder removed, abdominalplasty, and a c section. I am scheduled for a inner thigh lift next week. I haven't given it much thought about the dangers and my history of MRSA until co workers starting vocalizing their concern about my healthy and quite frankly dying. My surgeon is well aware of my history of MRSA and complications of surgeries.
1094370 tn?1317134825 My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though! That is the highest it's been in a long time so that is good news! The last few days, I seem to be feeling a bit better.
Avatar f tn I have MRSA (found through colonization of urine due to UTI). I have had chronic UTI's for years now and my dr just treats them with antibiotics everytime and does an ultrasound to make sure nothing serious going on in there like cancer or kidney disease. I do not have a skin infection....I am experiencing UTI symptoms, fatigue, my whole body is very sore and achy especially my neck and shoulders and lower back. Have been through 2 weeks of Bactrim DS and three days after I finished meds..
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar m tn I worked as an attendant, for people confined to wheel-chairs, and many of them had bed sores, or and MRSA. I wore gloves, and washed and washed myhands after work, but I did finally end up getting a rly painful sore right inside my nostril, that didn't reapond to amoxicillin, or prescription antibiotic cream, I had to take a high-powered antibiotic, and after that, I did change jobs. My advice would be careful to never pick your nose, because staph lives on finger-tips.
Avatar f tn My LLMD is changing my antibiotic treatment to Omnicef and Biaxin for 3 more months. Mainly because he believes Flagyl was responsible for my hormone imbalance and I wasn't able to keep it down since I got the flu. Has anyone been treated with this combination? It's the first time I have hear about it, but I have taken these before for other infections and did just fine. I am hopeful since my CD57 has gone up from 23 to 56. However, my IgM results show more Lyme.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with MRSA and been treated three times rounds of Bactrim. I currently have an outbreak of the MRSA sores I need to pick up another round of Bactrim and now on the inside of my two index fingers the skin is peeling like a blister was there and then popped. The raw skin beneath hurts like a blister was there, however, there were no blisters on my fingers. Is this related to the MRSA?
Avatar n tn m afraid I agree with the Doctors on this. MRSA is a bacteria which lives mainly on the skin and in the nose in around 30% of the UK population alone. It is normally harmless because it can't get through the skin unless you cut yourself and even then your immune system would have to be weak to not fight it off. So, out of hospital, people are less likely to be affected than those patients in hospital with open wounds and weakened immune systems. MRSA would make them very ill indeed.
Avatar n tn doctors are trying to diagnose and treat the symptoms of lupus, with a positive ANA test, swelling that only response to high doses of steriods and those cause horrible side effects. I hurt all over all the time, sometimes so bad I can only get relief when I'm asleep. have fine tremors and memory issues, my entire body is swollen, I'm taking so many medications to lower this overactive immune system that now the doctors warn me about being around sick people.
Avatar n tn colloidal silver cured my mrsa infection, you are very ignorant of what it can do
690549 tn?1288882721 There is no direct correlation between MRSA and MS. MRSA has been found in people who have weak immune system like diabetics, elderly, asthmatics, and patients in health care facilities for prolonged duration. Since you are on steroid therapy which suppresses the immune system the possibility of MRSA cannot be ruled out in your case. A clinical evaluation is warranted. Please get it done and keep us posted!
Avatar f tn Not sure where the rest of post is. Day 2 - 500mg Clarithromycin & Amox 875mg that night. This morning took 500mg of both Clarithromycin & Amox, and Ceftiaxone 1gm IV. I am aware of CDC guidelines and think that this single dose of rocephin & a total of 5gm of Biaxin over 4-5 days (in place of Azithromycin) should be effective? How long should I wait to engage in intercourse with my significant other?
Avatar m tn Eight days ago I woke up with an abscess on my leg in the groin area, opposite of my testicles. My wife and I promptly went to the doctor and it turned out to be a mrsa infection. The sore was drained of puss and I have been antibiotics taking them on time and will continue to take them on time until they are gone. My question is: what should we do so that we can continue to have sex without transferring the bacteria to my wife?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the answer...just one last point, the biaxin and amoxicilian were taken at different times around 2-3 months apart. Biaxin was for a Resp infection and the amoxicilian was for my saliva gland issue. These all have been taken throughtout the last year since exposure. Would Biaxin or amoxicial cure syphlis by themselves?. no more questions from me so I would like to thank you for your time!.
Avatar m tn I did the same thing after taking an antihistamine and got all upset and mine went up to 120. As soon as I forced myself to relax and quit checking it slowly went back to normal.
Avatar f tn I was treated for MRSA in the past. Now I have COPD and chronic bronchitis. Can the MRSA reappear during one of my active bronchitis bouts?
Avatar m tn Dr said she felt 2 lumps in my breast but i think/hope shes wrong when i showed up to mammogram and told them about MRSA i was told to leave and come back when i was clear And no Im not diabetic but its EXTREMLY interesting that you ask, I have read here that the bacteria feeds of high clucose?? please correct me if Im wrong but in a way one could say the bacteria craves sugar??
Avatar n tn i have never had a fever or cold sore or the hsv2 fluid filled blisters. anyway, the dr. called me 1 wk later and said i have mrsa and put me on antibiotics. now i am totally confused. i truly do not believe deep in my heart that i have hsv2. i have been married for 22 yrs. my husband, who has not been tested, said he does not have hsv2. i have only had sex with him 1 time in the last 6 months.
Avatar n tn I honestly would talk to your father's physician and surgeon about this and get their opinion. MRSA is definitely nothing to mess around with and neither is bypass surgery, so making the most informed decision you can is of utmost importance. I would suggest, however, that if the decision is made to go ahead with surgery, that, if at all possible, they give your father at least a few days of IV antibiotics before the surgery to help reduce any risk.
