biaxin allergy

I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects. Just this past winter, I had a UTI that wouldn't go away and was treated with Biaxin and another abx (I can't remember which one, I have to look...maybe Ceftin) and had a bad reaction to both of them.

ve taken since April are Avelox, Zithromax, Clindamycin and Biaxin (all of which I haven taken previously over the years w/ no problems). Each time I take one of these the symptoms are the same: after a few days of taking the med I start to experience itchiness, tightness, pressure inside my chest, like the sensation that something is in there. This continues until about 2 weeks after finishing the antibiotic.

Well this is what's weird about it: The lesions come and go. The drug is Biaxin XL. I've taken plain Biaxin before at least twice, but not this XL formulation. I've been wondering if maybe I'm allergic to some other part of the pill that's not the drug.

worse yesterday i noticed a small white patch on my tonsils which went away but reappeared on the back of my throat today; in the crevice that conects my nasal passage to my mouth: what are the chances its hiv i know oral thrush is pretty unique as far as symptoms go: if it was an infection why didnt the antibiotics clear it up i tested negative a few days shy of the 'week mark the worst part is that i recently started a study abroad program in paris and this is ruining my trip.

I recently went back to the doctor and i am on Biaxin, it cleared my sinus infection, but i have 1 day left on these pills, and my throat still has all the same problems. I was looking online and i have ALL the symptoms of Larynx Cancer, now im REALLY worried, does anyone have any advice about this, i get paranoia really badly. I have a allergy test of june 27 (i don't think that is the problem), and ultra sound tests on July 6 for my throat.

Hi, welcome to the forum, you have a history of drug allergy. It is quite rare one having allergy to all the medication. In such cases you need to keep anti histaminics with you so as to prevent allergic reactions. Drugs like penicillin and sulfa group of drugs are most common cause for hypersensitivity reaction. As you have a history of penicillin allergy. If your body is hypersensitive to sulfa, reaction will be similar to that you develop for penicillin.

I would ask the doctor for a different type of antibiotic like Biaxin or Bactrum. It might help if you saw a pulmonologist for an accurate diagnosis and more effective treatment. Another idea is that you are having allergy issues. If you identify your allergen and practice avoidance measures, that could take care of the problem as well. If avoidance cannot be accomplished affective treatment of allergies will be necessary.

they are cyst-busters. I was on biaxin for that purpose (along with another med to kill the bugs after they came out of the cyst), but had a reaction to it after several months; so the dr switched me to flagyl and a different antibiotic. It's a fair question why the dr would give you two cyst busters. Sounds like a lot. Good luck with the new job!! Sounds like a good one.

I've had a sore throat off and on (mostly on) for about 3 weeks now. I went to the doctor last Friday and was prescribed Biaxin 500mg twice per day. I've been doing this for 5 days now and there's been no improvement. The pain seems to move around my throat and neck area but its always intense. Yesterday it was below the larynx and today it`s mostly below my ear on the left side. Last Saturday was the last day that I had little or no pain.

Saw my LLMD in San Francisco on Friday and he said that my Erlichoisis is cleared but wants me to stay on my meds (Ketek & Cipro) for another 30 days. My testing for lyme is still coming up positive and there were more positive bands and stronger ones than my last test three months ago. He said that the meds I'm currently are on do not treat lyme. After this course of meds, I am switching to Amox & Biaxin to begin treating the lyme. My CD57 shot up from like 20 to 87 though!

I was taking Biaxin 500mg twice a day for a week and then took the rpr two days later. could this affect the results in any way?

I was prescribed antibiotics (allergic to penicillin, so I was given erythromyacin) the eyrthromyacin failed to work after about 10 days, so I was given biaxin, which failed at which time my eardrum ruptured and I was given cipro, and I had to discontinue do to adverse effects. The ear was still plugged and causing severe sharp pain. After 54 days the pain subsided. 1 month later, its back.

I have no answers yet and we are seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist. She started her on Prev Pak (without the biaxin) and there was no improvement. Any suggestions or opions would be welcome and do you think she should be eating in order to keep something down and have some nutrients? Thanks.

So to make my question simple: I like many other guys here chose to have sex with an escort. The sex was protected and to my knowledge the condom did its job. Both vaginal and oral. I've tested from the very first week out to I believe the 11th week, all AB test as duo are not common here. All have been negative. I have had a total of 5 tests, 1 blood draw and 4 finger pricks. I have had something going on in my throat for weeks, maybe about two weeks into it.

My doc perscribed Biaxin xl 2x 500 and prednisone 50mg 4 days if needed. Last night I was so bad I took the pred at 8pm. This morning I took the biaxin at 6am. It's been about 8 hours and my heart has sped up from about 70 to 85-90 for about an hour and won't come down. I'm afraid to take my next dose of prednisone but I've been on short bursts before with no issue. Is a resting heart rate around 90 something to be worried about?

ve been taking the medicine for at least 10 or 11 days at 1000 milgrams of each both biaxin and flagyl daily..and should have stop taking them along time ago ..is this common?

He gave me a prescription for biaxin, 2x a day for ten days. After doing some digging, I learned about oral gonorrhea. Could this possibly be what I have? And if so can it be cured by biaxin (antibiotic)?

I am a man. Next day, having been prescribed Biaxin for bronchitis, I took four 500 mg pills at once. I know this was foolish, but I had panicked. 5 days later I developed an infected ingrown hair at the base of my penis. I am over forty, and I believe I know an ingrown hair when I see one - when I take Biaxin I get them all over my legs. Next day, the bump had not opened up into an ulcer. I saw a hair growing out of the middle of it, and squeezed the bump.

May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.

I started taking Biaxin 2 days ago for a horrible throat infection. Since then my muscles have been weak and crampy (especially my calves with restless leg syndrome as well). I also am having horrible stomach cramps and nausea and I get an overwhelming metallic taste in my mouth (almost like bile actually). And the insomnia last night was unbearable. I haven't had insomnia in over a year. Has anyone else experienced this with Biaxin?

the doctor and I decided that I should try a differnt antibiotic so we switched to the Generic form of Biaxin.... Clarithromycin...... I was on it for 2 months and dropped 18 pounds and 3/4 of my hair..... we pulled out what was in the shower drain alone and you could of made a wig out of it pretty much...... the only other symptoms I had while on this medicine apart from the hair loss is that my hands would swell and night......I had excessive bruising all over.....

I also took biaxin for a throat problem a week ago. Doc gave me 500mg pills twice a day for 5 days. and I took them for 3 days then stopped for 2 day then finished the last 2 days after cause I found out that I have to do all of them. Would this have cured anyt sti? Sorry for long question doc just want everything answered at once.
