206807 tn?1331936184 I don't know whether this addresses your question but it seems related. See: Immunotherapy for HCV Infection: Next Steps Posted 11/04/2008 http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/581892_1 "....While it is known that neutralizing antibodies are generated during HCV infection and that they can be detected within 7-8 weeks postinfection.[27] they are not able to protect against reinfection.
190885 tn?1333025891 Pure Red Cell Aplasia •Cases of PRCA and of severe anemia, with or without other cytopenias that arise following the development of neutralizing antibodies to erythropoietin have been reported in patients treated with PROCRIT®. This has been reported predominantly in patients with CKD receiving ESAs by subcutaneous administration. PRCA has also been reported in patients receiving ESAs for anemia related to hepatitis C treatment (an indication for which PROCRIT® is not approved).
1637739 tn?1371688706 "Copaxone decreases relapses the least and has very painful sting to shot and welts. " I'm not sure where that data came from. All of the CRABs seem to have a similar effectiveness in the 30% range as far as reducing relapse. In my case, as long as I inject manually, I don't really get a very painful sting or welt, just some minor itching for a half hour. I don't have to worry about liver function tests, neutralizing antibodies or depression.
147426 tn?1317265632 So, first thing is he wants to check to see if I have neutralizing antibodies to the Avonex. If I do and they are in high titer, then there is no sense in continuing with the Avonex or any other Interferon-beta. The test for antibodies is highly specialized and done by very few labs. The one he trusts is on the East Coast and it costs $1000. It sounds like Medicare will cover it (????) We'll see.
338416 tn?1420045702 I too read in an article or publication on APS and MS. I've read that MS patients can have a low to medium positive result in the anticardiolipin IgG or IgM who are on beta-interferons.. It also stated a significant fraction of patients with true MS may have positive serology for IgG or IgM anticardiolipin antibody. My research has stated via Neurology books (googled them and you can get snippets of pages) that there are people with MS who have positive serology for IgG or M.
Avatar f tn I did take a test to make sure I have not developed antibodies to the Betaseron and I have not. I had an MRI of my brain and it showed only old lesions indicating that I have not had an MS attack in many years. What else could be the problem?
Avatar n tn What does NEUTRALIZING EFFECT and PRONUNCED EFFECT mean .My neurologist is on vacation. The results are from a meningiona on 4/2010.I dont have any knowledge of what the effects mean.If you could write what each one means it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn For the interferons Avonex is known to have the fewest side effects and the lowest incidence of creating neurtralizing antibodies. Then comes Rebif and betseron is known to have the highest dose, the highest incidence of side effects and, by far, the highest incidence of neutralizing antibodies. Copaxone seems to be without many/any body side effect at all, but the local side effects can apparently be quite annoying.
163305 tn?1333668571 One of the new antibodies, AR4A, shows broader HCV neutralizing activity than any previously reported anti-HCV antibody. "These antibodies attach to sites on the viral envelope that were previously unknown, but now represent promising targets for an HCV vaccine," said Mansun Law, an assistant professor at Scripps Research. Law is the senior author of the new report, which appears online this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Avatar f tn Thanks ABX203 has been designed to induce the production of neutralizing serum antibodies to HBsAg and the induction of strong cellular responses which are weak or undetectable in patients with CHB. These immune responses are similar to those that occur in patients with a self-resolving acute HBV infection.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have been off of Betaseron for about 2 weeks now and my eyes are back to being very uncomfortable. Before I started Avonex eye pressure and pain was a huge problem. Now it is is starting again.
233622 tn?1279334905 m not on betaseron, but am glad to hear you are making a change to see if you can find a combination to slow your MS. Getting the new MRI done on the stronger machine is so important for your baseline... it will give your new neuro a good view as to where you are coming from. And you're right, it might show where you have new damage that is causing your changes.
Avatar m tn I have MS and Neuropathy. I am currently on Tysabri. Previously I was on Betaseron and IVIG. When I went to Tysabri my doctor took me off IVIG and now my Neuropathy is worse, my feet and legs are on fire. Does any one know if it is safe to be on Tysabri and IVIG at the same time? My doctor said she would need to consult with other doctors before she would add IVIG to my treatment.
198419 tn?1360242356 He said that he believes in a higher dose - high frequency shot....either rebif or betaseron. His preference is betaseron....ultimately more meds being injected than Rebif, and much lower instances of injection site problems. The negative is slightly higher chance of antibodies being built up. The efficacy is about the same. So the MS specialist said Betaseron and we now have a box of the stuff sitting on our kitchen table. How did you end up with Rebif?

Avatar f tn I've been on Betaseron since a year after I was diagnosed in 2000. On August 20th, I quit taking Betaseron cold turkey when I finally received my new oral medication Tecfidera. For the last few days I have been dealing with horrible body aches, diarrhea, cold sweats & the inability to eat (not feeling sick, just not being hungry or interested in eating). I do not have a fever, a cough, allergies or anything else I can conclude to be at fault for these annoying symptoms.
Avatar f tn This is to possibly calm down the immune system and lower the Antithyroid Peroxidase antibodies. I take a multivitamin which provides 100 mcg selenium and eat well, so I probably get at least 200 mcg selenium in my diet each day. I know there is a toxicity to selenium, so I am wary of taking it in addition to my vitamin and food. Also, I did have my selenium levels done, and the result came back great - high normal range.
Avatar f tn My Neuro wants me to switch from Rebif to Betaseron. I have been taking Rebif since March 09 and have had to do one round of Solu Medrol in May and will find out tomorrow if I have to do another. I also have pretty bad injection site reactions which is why the Neuro wants the switch. I guess Rebif has acid in the injection and it makes the site reactions worse? My question is, I am under the impression that Betaseron is not pre mixed and also that there is not an auto injector?
Avatar m tn ABX203 is designed to induce the production of serum neutralizing antibodies against HBsAg and the induction of strong cellular responses. These immune responses are similar to those that occur in patients with acute hepatitis B infection and can heal spontaneously. ABX203 being applied as a nasal spray and also as a solution for subcutaneous injection, both treatments with 24 weeks.
