It's not really at what level is serious, Now if your levels to start out with were 4x the high limit, then your doctor would have order additional test immediately. You have an elevated level and it keeps rising and not leveling off or dropping. If this continues your doctor will do a CT scan and/or an ultrasound of your liver. There are a number of conditions that cause elevation of ALT enzymes. As simply as eating fatty foods, to all types of hepatitis.
There is this misconception that MS activity shows up on MRIs. MRIs only show a small amount of the damage. They now know a lot of damage is in the gray matter.
Damage happens without symptoms in MS. The question is are your lesions really getting smaller or not enhancing which means they are degenerative and no longer inflammatory.
Every case of MS is different. None are predictable.
I have a slow progressing degenerative form of MS.
The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
I have been taking Darvocet for about two years now. I began just taking one a week at night after a bad day and it has progressed to 1-3 daily for about 6 months now. I went to the Dr. for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet?

The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Copaxone is the weakest and he did not recommend it for me. Betaseron, Rebif and Avonex are essentially the same drug, Intefereon beta, administered in different doses.
My Neuro is a big believer in Neutralizing antibodies.
Avonex NAB rate is around 5%
Rebif around 10-15%
Betaseron 25-30%
NABs can bind to the active side of the interferon molecule rendering it useless. So naturally (if you believe in NABs) you would likely pick the one with the lowest NABs.
