Benzaclin vs retin a

Common Questions and Answers about Benzaclin vs retin a

benzaclin

Avatar m tn day time moisturizer, night time benzaclin and so on, every other day. Oh also because the topical stuff makes my skin more sun sensitive, should I use sunscreen or a moisturizer with built in SPF? Suggestions on good and affordable ones?
Avatar f tn Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength.. Thanks, so glad I am not smoking. If anyone has any comments on smoking damage and retinol, I'd appreciate it!!
Avatar m tn What do you think about the idea that if you increase cell turnover (with retin A, tretinoin) and exfoliate with special face washes, can that help prevent ingrown hairs. I don't have acne on areas on my face with no hair growth. The places I get acne is due to ingrown hairs mostly.
1155893 tn?1263018015 Hey, My dermo gave me Retin A cream to go along with my accutane. She said it would help clear up some of the dark spots I had on my skin from the acne. Will this help? What is this stuff usually used for ?
948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
Avatar m tn I am confused, as retin A cream is said to cause the skin to thin, and applying the cream is supposed to generate collegen which I though thickened the skin. Could you pleas explain? thank you.
Avatar n tn I suspect it is too harsh as complaints about increased wrinkles from retin A are just a google away. It sounds like it's just too drying. The last thing you want is to be pulling at your eyes because they feel tight and itchy. Maybe try something with vitamin C. That seems to soften fine lines well, but do not get it in your eyes because it has enough acid to cause a burning sensation.
Avatar f tn I haverecently gone to my primary physician and dermatologist and they tell me it is acne and prescribed benzaclin/ Atralin and sumaxin. Benzaclin seemed to work at first, but now it seems to make my breakouts worse. The other two prescriptions just dont seem to work at all. What could this be?Herpes? I do have herpes, but my doctor tells me it should only be on the lip (I have it next to the lip) it's not noticeable at all.
Avatar m tn Maybe your dermatologist should consider switching you to a lower concentration of Retin-A, or to a different treatment altogether if your dryness is still tough to handle. Best. Dr.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Avatar f tn Hello there, I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation. Thanks!
Avatar n tn hey, Right now im using proactiv for my pimples, but i have been prescribed Retin-A by my doctor a couple of years back. It didnt really work so i discontinued using it. I also have facial eczema, can that make my pimples worse? Ive put up with my pimples for too long, it has actually lowered my self esteem to the point where i can't handle. I will see with my GP again so she can transfer me to a dermatologist. Thank you so much for the info. Michelle.
Avatar n tn For the past 4 summers since, I still get the white spots after being in the sun. I was wondering if using Retin-A for skincare/wrinkle control is okay in patients with pityriasis alba? Would it cause further depigmentation or actually reverse the effects? Thank you!

Avatar n tn A related discussion, retin-a after accutane was started.
Avatar n tn Every 2-3 weeks, I wax my upper lip. For the past few months, I've noticed that i get the same small spot 1-2 days later on the edge of my upper lip. It's very small, but I notice it now because I expect it to surface when i wax. It's flat with a little swelling, skin colored and just a little red around the edge, never comes to a head and never blisters. I've tried popping it, but there's nothing really to pop. It usually goes away within the week.
Avatar m tn Hello, It is not advisable to use retin A without a doctor’s guidance. For the skin thinning caused by steroid use, there is no topical treatment as such. However you can use topical vitamin C and vitamin E cream under a dermatologist’s supervision. Vitamin C promotes collagen production and in effect your skin will become thicker with regular use. Vitamin C is present in a wide array of lotions, creams and serums.
Avatar n tn What are good topicals to use to thicken and strengthen thin skin on sensitive areas of the body? I have already tried emu oil and some vitamin C & E creams with minimal improvement, however I don't want to use Retin-A because I believe it could be too harsh for this skin. To be specific the skin is not as elatsic and firm as it once was and seems weaker, maybe partially due to previous overuse of certain topical medications.
Avatar n tn Oh, I'm sorry to hear about this. Skin problems are so emotional in nature too because of how we all are about our appearance. But you are not alone. When the health crisis blows over, seeing a dermatologist may be of benefit to you. They do have things they can prescribe. Retin-A is one of them. Some women also have success going on birth control pills when they have adult acne. Make sure your make up isn't contributing to the issue as well.
Avatar m tn I was just wondering how often I should have my eyes tested, cause my eye specialist said a was a higher risk patient to develop glaucoma(just cause changes had taken place in my eyes, such as a small side retin hole(to be checked every two years), and eye floaters(which I broke out in, after using this injectable tanning product!). Would having them tested every 2 years(if i have no vision trouble), be ok to catch it in it's very early stages, if I was to develop it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am 25 and have 2 kids. I have severe stretch marks on my stomach, arms and sides. I have smaller stretch marks on thighs. Retin A isn't covered by my insurance. Is there another remedy that I could use to help. Only a few have a little bit of red color to them and all are over 3 years old. I can't afford to have laser surgery either. I want something to help so i can feel comfortable in my own skin again. What can I do?
Avatar n tn is it ok to use tetracycline, retin-a, and hydroquinone togther as part of a daily routine, and whats the best sunscreen lotion?
Avatar m tn im guessing my skin is sensitive since i use retin a micro 0.1%.do you think the skin will grow back on my nose?its been about 5 days and it still doesnt look good.is there anything i can put on it without taking the skin off again that will make the skin grow faster?
Avatar n tn Can I use retin A to remove the old skin and possibly make the mark less noticeable? Are there any other treatments?
