Benzaclin and tretinoin

Common Questions and Answers about Benzaclin and tretinoin

benzaclin

Avatar m tn I am currently taking benzaclin and erythromycin gel at night and Evoclin foam in the day. I also tweeze and wax the hairs. I was wondering if tretinoin cream would help prevent ingrown hairs due to increased epithelial cell turnover? I know laser treatment would be most beneficial but cannot afford it at the moment. What can I do in the meantime to help prevent ingrown hair and pimples in the hair follicle?
Avatar m tn One doctor prescribed Benzaclin and another doctor referred me to a dermatologist. After scheduling an appointment with a dermatologist and waiting over three months I ended up seeing a PAC and not an actual dermatologist (if that matters). Unfortunately I lost the notes I had from the visit but she said I had Sebaceous something or the other. She said there wasn't really anything I could do to clear it up. She gave me a Tretinoin prescription for acne in general.
Avatar n tn Hence, it is advisable that if you re using tretinoin ,you need to use sunscreen protection in and out of the house .Tretinoin helps delay sun damage however, it has been shown to be less effective in reverting already damaged skin or severely sun damaged skin. Thus, you may discuss this with your physician. Was tretinoin prescribed by your doctor? What was the indication for the medication? Are you having severe acne?
Avatar f tn I haverecently gone to my primary physician and dermatologist and they tell me it is acne and prescribed benzaclin/ Atralin and sumaxin. Benzaclin seemed to work at first, but now it seems to make my breakouts worse. The other two prescriptions just dont seem to work at all. What could this be?Herpes? I do have herpes, but my doctor tells me it should only be on the lip (I have it next to the lip) it's not noticeable at all.
Avatar n tn Be sure that you apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30 when staying outdoors when using tretinoin. Do not pick on the red spots and try to observe if these spots appear to worsen with tretinoin use. If itching and scaling over the areas occur , then you may need to have this assessed by your physician prescriber.
1323580 tn?1274669941 Over the summer i got a really bad sunburn which definitely resulted in photo damage to my forehead and cheeks. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for Tretinoin .05 cream. The picture is from my 2nd week of using Tretinoin once daily at night then using a moisturizer in the morning. The things that are bothering me the most is the wrinkle formed on my forehead the the two wrinkles forming above my eyebrow. The skin in these areas has become rough and loose as you can see in the picture.
Avatar m tn Other differentials will be skin tags. Flat warts may be treated with cryotherapy or tretinoin. You may discuss this with your dermatologist. Flat warts usually occur on the face and they may readily spread through shaving or frequent skin to skin contact. I suggest that you try to minimize shaving. However, doing so may not readily stop them from spreading. Treatment with the therapies mentioned above may be the best way to prevent their spread. .
Avatar m tn The skin on my cheeks seems to be dry right now because of the topical stuff from my dermatologist (retin-a micro gel, used in the morning and left on till night, and benzaclin gel used at night and left on till morning) but normally it feels pretty smooth and kind of soft but also kind of dry. My forehead feels scaly-ish which is probably because of all the imperfections on it but in the summer it is pretty oily and right now in the winter is feels dry and scaly. My jawline is pretty average.
Avatar n tn Every 2-3 weeks, I wax my upper lip. For the past few months, I've noticed that i get the same small spot 1-2 days later on the edge of my upper lip. It's very small, but I notice it now because I expect it to surface when i wax. It's flat with a little swelling, skin colored and just a little red around the edge, never comes to a head and never blisters. I've tried popping it, but there's nothing really to pop. It usually goes away within the week.
Avatar n tn I read on another site that it could be my diet but i doubt it. I eat low calorie and low carb and drink water. Any idea what this could be?
1323580 tn?1274669941 I have consulted with a dermatologist, she said a had slight sun damage and the wrinkles and gave me a prescription. I purposely started using the Tretinoin .05 generic cream in the winter so when i started the treatment i could avoid for the most part the problem of sunburns. I have been using it for two weeks now putting it on once a day before i go to bed and using a moisturizer in the morning to help with flaking.
Avatar m tn My almost 2 year old daughter has keratosis pilaris on the back of her arms and legs. I am a physician, not a dermatologist, and asked my sister who is a dermatologist what I should do, but now want another opinion. She recommended using eucerin plus with AHA in it. It seemed to improve her legs, but now one of her arms is much worse. Have been using it for one month. We always put cetaphil on top of it.
Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
Avatar f tn I used Obagi RX for about a year. That's how long it took me to go through a box that cost about $250. It works wonderfully for brown spots. It has a C-serum to be used during the day, with an exfoliate, and then at night a bleach cream with hydroquinone is used. I obtained it from a spa that is associated and located adjacent to my dermatologist's office. Wonderful stuff. I can't begin to tell you how great my skin looks.
Avatar m tn Hello, Although many topical preparations have been tried like betadine, Australian lemon myrtle, tea tree oil , tretinoin and Methisazone but their use is limited and without full proof results. The best method of treatment of molluscum is excision, cautery, cryosurgery by liquid nitrogen and laser removal.cryosurgery and laser are painless and the lesions heal well in 2-3 weeks. I sincerely advise you consult a dermatologist and get it excised. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Sometimes they seem to radiate from the base of the head to the tip, appear roundish and shiny on the surface. Have used hyrdrocortisone cream but does not seem to help. Masturbation seems to irritate and make it worse, especially with lubrications. I have had this for years, but seems to be worse lately. Would this be a yeast infection? I am single but always use a condom if I have sex.
Avatar f tn As for the fordyce, a product known as Tretinoin gel or cream and it is a very popular Fordyce spots treatment. The prominence of the spots should reduce. This product can be even more effective when used in combination with an alpha hydroxyacid agent. As for the cut see your doctor.
Avatar f tn Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
Avatar n tn The spots are a form of ectopic sebaceous gland, and are not known to be associated with any disease or illness and are of cosmetic concern only. They are non-infectious and a natural occurrence on the body. Although no treatment is required, those with the condition can choose to apply Tretinoin gel or cream to the affected areas each day. This can reverse the effects of the condition over time and prevent it from getting any worse.
Avatar f tn You can use various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids and tretinoin cream.Apply hydroquinone cream on the scars and it should go away in a few days to months. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Many treatments use a combination of topical lotions or gels containing melanin-inhibiting ingredients along with a sunscreen, and a prescription retinoid. Depending on how the skin responds to these treatments, exfoliants — either in the form of topical cosmetic or chemical peels — and lasers may be used. Topical hydroquinone is considered by many dermatologists to be a safer, similarly effective (if not more so), and less expensive option than lasers or deep peel treatments.
Avatar n tn s spots, or Fordyce granules are small, painless, raised, pale or white spots or bumps 1 to 3 mm in diameter that may appear on the shaft of the penis or on the labia, as well as the inner surface and vermilion border of the lips of the face. 948202 tn?1245941816 Hello. I have been using retin-a 3 times a week and sulfacetamide 3 times a week (alternating each night). I just so happened to start reading the information for retin-a and it says, "if you have recently used products containing sulfur....use tretinoin with caution." Do i have something to be worried about?
Avatar n tn Also i have a prescription face medication cream called BenzaClin which is 1% clindamycin and 5% Benzoyl peroxide. Also, i am away at college far from my house so could it be my face isnt use to the water here? Im not sure what else it could be. Does anyone have any ideas of what i can do to help??? Can someone tell me what has helped them get rid of annoying and stubborn pimmples? Pleasee helpppp.. thanks!
Avatar n tn A couple of months later i cut one of these, and i assume it got infected and scabbed over. The problem is that its still there and hasnt healed yet. Although i have irritated it alot (managed to get some puss out of it a couple of times before), Is this just a bad infection, or something worse? Its visible above the skin, with the scab on the outside and raised about 1 milimeter above the surface, and about 1-2 milimeters below. It doesnt hurt.
Avatar m tn I have stopped both but I am very concerned and nervous. Ive been looking online and found stories of doctors recommending pts abort their babies and all....
Avatar f tn I am on Bactrim for my acne, I am also prescribed topical Aczone, and a tretinoin cream. I am prescribed 10% glycolic acid pads. I have been on birth control for two and a half years. For my entire life, I have had dry skin, that turns into combination/very dry sky during the winter. I adapt my products to react to this change, that takes place in my skin every year, and can always be solved by deeply moisturizing, adding a serum to my regimen, or decreasing tretinoin use.
Avatar m tn I've recently went to the doctor and was prescribed Doxycycline and Benzaclin a topical gel which consists of 1% clindamycin and 5% Benzoyl Peroxide it seems that its getting better, I just wanted to know what your opinion was on this?
