My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time. What could be causing this other than the fact that I just (3 weeks ago) had open heart surgery.
A guy uses Benicar off-label for chronic fatigue or something in the so called Marshall Protocol. While its effectiveness remains dubious.
He claims Benicar reduces the need for exogenous thyroid hormones in hypothyroid patients even getting to the point of hyperthyroidism.
"Patients who are taking thyroid supplements should be aware that their need for those supplements may change within a day or two of starting olmesartan (Benicar).
Before I try a prescription med that others use for the excessive sweating problem, I would like to rule out current meds. Does anyone with this problem take Benicar or Lexapro or Omeprazole?.
I have tried many BP medications with some bad results. Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
I was wondering how you came out with this problem, know its been awhile since you asked it. I took benicar too, and started having terrible pvc's, 23,000 a day. They never said it was the benicar but I was in the hospital a week, and they didn't give it to me anymore. Searching online I am finding some links to heart arrhythmia and benicar. I now am supposed to get a heart ablation for the pvc's.
Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.
Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100. The physician recommended for me to take 20mg of benicar. I'm on it for a week, but I realized after 30 min of running, my performance goes down, and a finish my 10k really really tired, with difficulties to breathe, which didn't happen before. My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70.
If you blood pressures are high, it suggests you might need more blood pressure medication or that you are very anxious about the medication change (this can happen). If the benicar was stopped -- it sounds like it needs to be restarted. A generic ACE inhibitor like lisinopril is cheaper and works just as well.
It’s a little better in the morning but gets worse through the day, correlating with BP going as high as 161/90. It feels like there is too much fluid in my head. Need two pilllows at night to keep head elevated.
A recent MRI stated: “White matter changes, likely the sequelae of chronic microvascular ischemia. Hyperintense T2 signal within the mid pons may also be related to chronic arteriolosclerosis. Central pontine myelinolysis can produce similar imaging findings.
My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
For the record, I had my gallbladder removed today laparoscopically and did not stop taking the Benicar HCT. No troubles that they felt worth mentioning, so it does sound like at my dosage, it was fine.
And, yeah...the surgery itself was unbelievably easy!
Although I am not cynical when it comes to the medical profession, I know there are drugs of preference from doctor to doctor. I was on Benicar HCT for 4 years before moving and finding a new doctor. One of the first things he did was pull me off Benicar and put me on Lisinopril, a beta blocker. I had a terrible reaction to this drug, I couldn't workout and my heart rate stayed at 50 - 55 BPM.
I have the pain in the neck and upper shoulders all the time. I have an office job and do a lot with the mouse and keyboard. I am currently taking ultram 4 times a day Flexeril 3 times a day, toprol 3 times a day, benicar, 1 a day, Neurotin 300 mg. 3 x a day. It is not helping. I have pain in my legs and lower back also. I am having a terrible time trying to stay awake each day. Between 10 and 2 I feel like my head is continually dropping. Has anyone found anything for this fatigue?
I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble.
Well I took the benicar day one and forgot to go pick up the norvasc at the pharmacy and did okay. The second day on the Benicar I did good but when I left work I forgot to go to pharmacy for Norvasc so I was gong after dinner. Before I had the chance within a 2 minute time frame my heart rate went from normal to 160 bpm and would not stop. Went to er where they did blood work and said all blood work looked normal.
during the last 4 months I went through 3 events during day time in which suddenly I got a strange painless feeling that started in my upper torso into my neck into my upper shoulders and then into both of my arms . It Lasted for no more than twenty scary seconds . and it went away with no evident effects. I have not experienced it again for the last 60 days .I am 67 years old male of good health . I have type 2 diabitis, Hepertension .
