benicar

1260320 tn?1270394906 I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar f tn Chest pain is not a known side-effect of diovan/hctz. Given the fact that he had a recent bypass I would urge you to take him to the ER ASAP.
Avatar f tn t know if I spelled it right) she is on this med for some time now and has big time side effects as in extreme fatigue and caugh. The fatigue is so bad that its hard for her to function. Her doctor REFUSES to switch her to anothr BP med, her doctor says "no way are these side effects from that med, this is the best BP med on the market and I will NOT switch you".
Avatar n tn ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I am about 20 kgs overweight. I walk every day and when in a good routine 8 kms a day, up and down hills through fields etc.
Avatar f tn The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away. Now all of a sudden I cannot put the milk gallon in the refrigerator without using two hands. The weakness is increasing, I cannot raise the jug as high as I could a couple of weeks ago.
Avatar n tn I am also on Toprol XL 25mg daily. My Benicar dose was dropped from 40 to 20 mg daily last visit. I am concerned about the elevated BUn as it is indicative of renal issues. I drink more water daily and will see on my next visit to doc in Sep what we will do as a plan if my labs are abnormal. I might add I think these 2 have also elevated my cholesterol and LDL! Look forward to follow up note.
Avatar m tn I will be ok poison control said its hard to overdose on Benicar imy wife said i should try harder the next time JUST JOKING she aid she would make sure that from now on i would take enough then she studderd ans said the right dose.
Avatar n tn a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar n tn Searching online I am finding some links to heart arrhythmia and benicar. I now am supposed to get a heart ablation for the pvc's.
Avatar n tn You have symptomatic PVC that need to be treated with a medication called a beta blocker. If that doesn't help you could have an ablation procedure where we target and burn the origin of the PVC. The PVC's aren't typically a sign of a heart attack. Benicar is not causing your PVC's. They are probably related to you blood pressure and the effect that it has on your heart muscle.
378273 tn?1262097621 I have a history of good (low) BP, and since the onset of AFib and the ingestion of beta blockers (up to 200 mg of Metoprolol a day) my BP tends to be on the low side. When I first went to 200 mg of the BB my BP went too low, i.e., some dizziness. I may have missed your points, but can say my experience is, AFib doesn't cause high BP.
514523 tn?1215832667 You may need to taper off of the Diovan at some point, so you should be mindful of what your blood pressure is doing and be prepared to ask your doctor to adjust or discontinue the Diovan. You're not on any thyroid meds, so you will need to find out why you are hyper, and you will likely be on the Toprol for a few months at least while the thyroid problem is sorted out. Best of luck to you.
Avatar m tn Now, as I started to run more seriously I decided to do check up, and got the same diagnosis, but with benicar due to simplicity to take, just on pill per day. I don't have any other condition, blood sugar are ok, kidney ok as well. My diet I think is ok. I've lost 17 kg since the beginning of the year, exercising 5 times a week. I stopped benicar for 2 days, and already feeling performance improving.
Avatar n tn If you blood pressures are high, it suggests you might need more blood pressure medication or that you are very anxious about the medication change (this can happen). If the benicar was stopped -- it sounds like it needs to be restarted. A generic ACE inhibitor like lisinopril is cheaper and works just as well.
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
406399 tn?1201884300 as maybe the meds need to be adjusted to lower dose. or change to something in beta blocker family of meds.. with less effects ? (I wish) what im wondering has anyone had this problem changing meds.?? like having alot of side effects happen, and palps from ccb. ??
159619 tn?1707018272 I do have white coat syndrome so it tends to run above 120/80 at the doctors office so he is hesitant to take me off the Benicar. My question, is it reasonable to expect to be able to get off blood pressure meds? I was told when I went on Benicar that it would most likely be for life, but I would like to cut back if possible. I have to admit I have no side effects from the Benicar, it has been a great drug for me. You thoughts?
Avatar f tn I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.
Avatar f tn My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.
Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
1235564 tn?1267904820 Sounds like claudication due to Atherosclerosis...lower extremity aches due to hardening of the arteries. The fact that you are on Benicar tells me that you have been diagnosed with hypertension...you may want to check with your doctor about Atherosclerosis. I am not sure what you mean by good Chinese cooking...but I would advise to stay away from the MSG and sodium...keep taking the fish oil.
Avatar m tn After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together. I was monitoring my blood pressure and it was in the 130-140/80's and I thought I was OK without the medication.
Avatar m tn Instructions for Viagra, Cialis, etc. say not to take w/ BP meds. I'm thinking there are a cpl possibilities. Diovan (Valsartan) is available in different doses (20 mg, 40 mg, etc.), so maybe you could take a lower dose on the day you'll be using Viagra. Or possibly just skip your usual dose that day, then resume the next. However, your Dr. may not agree. I think the best strategy is to ask your Dr. about using these 2 drugs at the same time.
