Common Questions and Answers about Benicar for migraines

benicar

Avatar f tn I was told by a notable researcher that 90% of the marshall protocol patients would not recover since it did not address the coinfections/viruses present. I was on the protocol and JackieCalifornia and I discussed it. That is why I am using a LLMD with a newer approach. My MP Dr did not even consider testing me for "other" infections. But Ree is correct that the Benicar helps the effacy of the antibiotics.
775732 tn?1246125144 now relying on benicar/ prophylaxis; botox injections every 3 mos.; relpax -prn; narc if needed -compazine for nausea; I also have seizures that I take lg dose of topamax for. Have checked for rebound...but not the case. Have done migraine diet; I see my neuro every 3 mos. I feel for all of you - I figure sooner or later, someone will come across something that will help. But I know there are worse things...
1260320 tn?1270394906 I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar m tn A guy uses Benicar off-label for chronic fatigue or something in the so called Marshall Protocol. While its effectiveness remains dubious. He claims Benicar reduces the need for exogenous thyroid hormones in hypothyroid patients even getting to the point of hyperthyroidism. "Patients who are taking thyroid supplements should be aware that their need for those supplements may change within a day or two of starting olmesartan (Benicar).
Avatar f tn I've been on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 for 3 years, it's the only BP med I've been on and it has worked wonders with no side effects. My BP is down to 110/70 from 150/90 and as I said, I have had absolutely no side effects to date. For me, it's a great med, but maybe not for you. There are many to choose from, just keep working with your doctor to find the one that works best for your situation.
Avatar n tn I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.
Avatar n tn I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.
Avatar m tn I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?
Avatar n tn s be caused by the benicar? I also was put on 20mg of Paxil 6 months ago for anxiety I think due to thinking there was a problem with my heart from feeling the PVC's all the time. The PVC's would come and go for the past year, but now seem to be getting worse and worse.
Avatar n tn Mike, He just means you can feel them, Many people have them and never know its going on. The doctor is also right about the Benicar, I've been taking 40mg a day for a few years, never affected me. Bottom line, if your echo is normal and your heart is normal structurally, these are normally not dangerous, but they sure can be annoying though!
Avatar m tn I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.
159619 tn?1707018272 I was told when I went on Benicar that it would most likely be for life, but I would like to cut back if possible. I have to admit I have no side effects from the Benicar, it has been a great drug for me. You thoughts?
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
Avatar f tn I have been on medication for hcb for about 5 years.Six months ago I complained of chest pain and diastolic pressure was 41. My doctor took me off of metoprolol and ordered tests from a cardiologist.Tests were all fine the pain went away and diastolic pressure returned to normal until a week ago. The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.
Avatar m tn just wanted to report that the Benicar HCT bp med seemed ok to keep taking for this particular outpatient surgery...can you tell I'm relieved?
Avatar f tn t know if I spelled it right) she is on this med for some time now and has big time side effects as in extreme fatigue and caugh. The fatigue is so bad that its hard for her to function. Her doctor REFUSES to switch her to anothr BP med, her doctor says "no way are these side effects from that med, this is the best BP med on the market and I will NOT switch you".
Avatar f tn It looks like all the meds you are taking can cause drowsiness or fatigue except for maybe benicar. I took one dose of flexeril one time and slept for like 10 hours.
Avatar n tn I experience variuos fluctuations even using Benicar. My blood pressure had some for some reason risen to 170/101 two months ago and my primary doctor prescribed Benicar. Well, it reduce my blood pressure to the normal range, but it fluctuates to as low as 86/54 and up to 136/86. Along with this I have lightheadeness, dizziness, some breathing problems, some numbness in my hands and unsteady walking. What I would like to find out if this relates to heart trouble.
Avatar f tn Er doc said probably some tachardia due to stopping the beta blocker I had been on for years. I went back to cardio dr the next day and now he wants me to take Benicar, Norvasc and a small dose of the beta blocker plus my anxiety meds...all this for someone who he says has a normal heart? I am so confused. Also, I got a copy of all my records because I am getting a second opinion....
Avatar f tn It uses low-dose (pulsed) antibiotics, along with Benicar. Dr. Trevor Marshall has discovered the use of Benicar for Th1 inflammatory diseases. A brilliant discovery and I know it works because I was originally on his protocol. Benicar alone, without antibiotics, appears to enable the immune system to function better and thus kill enough bacteria to cause the resulting immunopathology. Benicar allows the immune system to 'see' the bacteria.
Avatar n tn My PCP removed the metropol and put me on benicar 20mg. A couple of weeks later I went to see a cardio doc for chest pain and dizziness. He admitted me overnight and They did a stress test with an echo, they also did 3 blood tests to check to see if i had a heart attack. Everything was fine and he switched me to Coreg. The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg.
Avatar n tn If your doctor still thinks everything is okay, then try support socks/stockings. I've been on BP meds, including olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide, and I still need to wear support socks. I have a pair for light support and a pair for moderate support for days when I'll be on my feet a lot. This also helps my ankle pain. Just a thought.
Avatar m tn Before I try a prescription med that others use for the excessive sweating problem, I would like to rule out current meds. Does anyone with this problem take Benicar or Lexapro or Omeprazole?.
Avatar f tn What questions should I ask re what type of blood pressure medication I should be on? I tried benicar and lisinopril and caused sinus drainage - however, they worked Then tried hydrochlorothiazide which cause major constipation .... Now on amlopidine beselate and coreq cr and have fatigue....seems the latter meds are overkill as I had only one coronary stent over 10 hrs ago and cardiologist a few weeks ago said my heart is fine.
Avatar n tn My mother had a triple bypass June 23rd and was sick (vomiting) for a month until I figured out the Amiodorone medicine they had her on was making her sick. I asked the surgeon and he took her off the Amiodorone around July 20th, so she was on the medicine approximately 1 month. I understand Amiodorone has a long life span and it can take up to 6 months for the body to eliminate it from it's system. My mother vomits every 1 1/2 weeks on average.
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on Lisinopril( 10 Mlg) I have taken this med for one week and my BP is still high. I am 78 and maintain a good weight and eat well and exercise regularly. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/252967'>extreme high blood pressure</a>.
