I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.
I am on four medications: Bystolic (40 mg / day), Hytrin (12 mg / day), Benicar (40 mg /day), and Clonidine (2 / day).
I started only on Inderal 20 years ago to control mild hypertension and paroxysmal tachycardia. History of possible Lyme Disease otherwise nothing remarkable.
A year ago I started having wildly fluctuation hypertension (normally 120/70 went to 240/115 in seconds - repeatedly with no pattern, no identifiable triggers).
I I had to guess my penile arteries are permanently damaged from hypertension/smoking for 10 years ubtil 23 etc.
I could tell that my bp was still high and I went to another doctor who prescribed me Benicar for the bp. The headaches became too much to bear again. The closest definition I have found is "primary cough headache", however I am not in the norm of risk factor group.
I have been healthy most of my like aside from asthma when I was younger, and I smoke a pack of cigarrettes a day.
I was told by a notable researcher that 90% of the marshall protocol patients would not recover since it did not address the coinfections/viruses present. I was on the protocol and JackieCalifornia and I discussed it. That is why I am using a LLMD with a newer approach. My MP Dr did not even consider testing me for "other" infections. But Ree is correct that the Benicar helps the effacy of the antibiotics.
dad died at 46yrs, his dad died early 40s and 2 bothers with valvular issues. Have had hypertension for a few years and started on Benicar a year ago. Also I do feel some tightness in my throat and neck. Extremities get cold and off and on during the day. I also have been sweating more then usual!!! No CP... Thyroid test negative last year. Well this is as much info I can give. What are your thoughts???
A guy uses Benicar off-label for chronic fatigue or something in the so called Marshall Protocol. While its effectiveness remains dubious.
He claims Benicar reduces the need for exogenous thyroid hormones in hypothyroid patients even getting to the point of hyperthyroidism.

Hi, you need to be more careful in controlling you hypertension and also have a check on yout blood glucose levels. Your weakness in muscles warns for more investigation and complete evaluation by a neurophysician. Is numbness worsening? try to sleep on hard surface and have some massages once or twice a week. A warm hot bath at bed time can be soothing. Take care, bye.
I've been on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 for 3 years, it's the only BP med I've been on and it has worked wonders with no side effects. My BP is down to 110/70 from 150/90 and as I said, I have had absolutely no side effects to date. For me, it's a great med, but maybe not for you. There are many to choose from, just keep working with your doctor to find the one that works best for your situation.
white male in generally good health, maybe 5 or 10 lbs overweight, with well-controlled hypertension, no family history of bad diseases. Ordinarily, I take benicar (medoximil olmesartan) 20 mg to control my BP, which is normally in the range of 110--130 / 70--80. I measure my BP at home using an Omron Intellisense meter. I do a brisk 2.5 mile walk several times a week, and I also go to the gym, usually 1x or 2x/week.
I have been put on Benicar 40mg BID and Procardia 30mg PM.. My readings are taken 7am always 160-175/100 or more. After taking meds in the am they go down in about 2hrs to 145-90 arange. In the evening they go up again 150-170/117 I'm feeling like at times I can't even think straight nor walk straight for that matter. My vision is blurry when pressure is high accompanied w/ CP and upper back/arm pain. I'm at my wits end .My cardi has ordered a Renal MRA.
I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.
I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.
I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?

He just means you can feel them, Many people have them and never know its going on. The doctor is also right about the Benicar, I've been taking 40mg a day for a few years, never affected me.
Bottom line, if your echo is normal and your heart is normal structurally, these are normally not dangerous, but they sure can be annoying though!
You need to find a new doctor. My husband had a new pacemaker in December & today 4-1-14 had to had it totally redone. The original doctor had the leads in wrong place, they were too large & they removed the unit because is was only in superficial.
Just saying because we thought he had a good doctor but he quacked & it sounds like your doctor quacks too. Don't mess around, get another opinion.
My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
I am using 2.5mg of Amlodipine (Calcium Channel Blocker) and 5mg of Bisoprolol(Beta Blocker) to treat my hypertension. I noticed when I took a calcium supplement that I felt real "hyper" and had heart races at night. I stopped the supplements but now I get the same reaction if I drink a large glass of milk. I also have side affects of reaccuring vivid nightmares.
I have an upcoming physical, my doctor does not believe me.
