Typhoid is rare in developed countries...just out of curiosity do you know how you contracted it? People with typhoid Are normally hospitalized...especially pregnant women. I don't mean to sound rude but my goodness what is your doctor thinking?! I also don't know where you live (not everyone on this site is from US). This can be a life threatening illness to both mother AND baby....it can be transferred to baby.
It might be, it does seem a little light but it could clear a STD up if you had it. Best thing is always wait for tests. And I think this is why the Dr went light on the dosage.
yes, have been reading up on this and the 1.0gram dose of azithromycin recommended in one single dose. I actually did take this myself on Friday, but my partner who did not listen to the instructions on dosage, took the above mentioned dosage.
So basically, 1.0grams in a 8hr window, followed by 250mg 24 hrs later and 250mg 24 hrs later to that.
I still feel a tiny bit tingling feeling and can see a slight discharge.
I have not had syphilis that I know of but have had Gonorrhea to which I was treated with 2g azithromycin, 500MG cipro, 1g Rocephine injection. That was approx 4 years prior to the first rpr(so about 9 years ago). I have had vaccinations for typhoid and yellow fever. I have also traveled to approximately 70 countries on 6 continents and could have been exposed to any array of bacteria or viruses. Negative HIV test several years ago and haven't had risky exposure since.
I have started the normal dosage of azithromycin for it's common use (I am sick), but found out that someone I slept with may have had chlamydia in the past.
Would the dosage of 500 mg per day for 3 days (total of 1500 mg) be effective for treating chlamydia if I have it?
I have already talked the first 500 mg tablet today. Should I take 2 x 500 mg tomorrow? Or continue my current dosage?
Ok so i was treated for Chlamydia [havent got results back yet] with the 4 pink pills called Azithromycin [one time dosage]. My symptoms were itchy penis and i had discharge coming from my penis. I was treated for Chlamydia and my symptoms pretty much went away i still have very mild discharge [only in the moring] its been almost a week since i was treated, is this normal? should it be complety gone already?
However, he had two red spots appear on the end of his penis which we thought was thrush that I had passed to him.. he then passed some blood in his urine yesterday and got himself straight to the doctors. He told the doctor about my symptoms aswell and he said doctor said we could just be passing a bit on nasty bacteria back on forth, it could just be thrush, or it could be from going from anal sex to vaginal penetration without washing his penis.
I have just finish the treatment for gonorrhea after finishing the prescribed 5 day dosage of azithromycin. After further reading on azithromycin in the internet, I stumbled upon some people saying including in this forums that taking azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis. I'm starting to get worried. I didn't notice any symptoms of syphilis on me at all. So is it possible that azithromycin can affect the vdrl for syphilis?

I had some azithromycin prescribed to me for diarrhoea from my doctor before I came overseas, to use in case of illness/travellers diarrhoea and inability to see a doctor.
I looked up the uses of azithromycin and saw that it could be taken for chlamydia. Unfortunately at that time I didn't read the prescribed dose, so I took 1000mg in the way that is recommended for travellers diarrhoea, two 250mg tablets Day 1, Day 2 + 3 one 250mg tablet.
This wouldnt be the correct dosage? Is there a difference between azithromycin 250mg and 500mg, even if they are added up to the same exact dosage? Would 1000mg of azithromycin (from a zpack) cure chlamydia is my question.
I'm looking for ideas. I got sick with classic head cold symptoms on August 1st. It was a nasty cold with a fever 99-101.5. The cold symptoms faded over time but I have been stuck with the fever, crushing fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Tests have been completely normal: CBC, CBC with manual differential, complete metabolic panel, mono test, sed rate. I took a course of azithromycin and got worse while taking it. My doctors are clueless.
I've had a fever between 100.5-101.8 over the last two days, burning urination, blood in urine, slight fatigue at night, and no other symptoms. I just began taking an unused Z-pak I've had. I know this could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, and or UTI.
1) Will Z-pak help? 2) What other drug/dosage is commonly prescribed for UTIs?
Can anyone help me please! I know the standard dosage for chlamydia is 1g of azithromycin usually 2 x 500mg pills, my question is would 500mg over 3 days cure the chlamydia as it's over the 1g?
First i didnt use condom when i sucked her, but she used when she sucked mine, then i requested her to put on(she didnt came in my mouth). Anyways, on almost after six weeks i got typhoid.. taking antibiotics.. 8-10 rash spot on my right leg.. its a middle stage typhiod.. almost 99c temprature on and off whole day.. i talked her last day .. she is a big traveller, also has web page.. she was saying that she is clear. Well yesterday i got an ELISA test which is also negative. (non-reactive).
Are you male or female ? A 1 gram dose of azithromycin is effective in treating Chlamydia but may not treat gonorrhea. Wait for your test results. If you are still having symptoms, please go back for a follow up exam.Take care.
it seems ive been having sharp pains in my liver the past 2 weaks . it might not be the liver but its under, and oddly enough, above my ribs on my right abdomen. never had surgery there. had receieved typhoid about 4 weeks ago, that cleared up, and a few days later this happens. sounds like hepatitis because of the light case of typhoid. didnt have fever though. it doesnt hurt more when i press on it and theres no pressure, yet.
anyone know if this is something to worry about?
it could be telogen effluvium(because of typhoid) but i am not sure whether a person has itching in telogen effluvium..yet the patches were formed after typhoid....there was an initially afftected area at the back of my head before typhoid..it was very less....but now the area has expanded...the crown is somewhat visible....as since i live in shimla.there are no trichologists here...should i visit some trichologist????.please suggest whom should i meet up for this problem..
Regarding TB, the Montoux test and ESR can be high in many cases and need further follow up. Typhoid generally presents with high fever and GI symptoms like diarrhea. However it can present without these classical symptoms too. Hence the test is diagnostic. If in doubt, you can get the test repeated.

Hi I had the Hepatitis A & Typhoid combined injection on the 18/4/07. I am going to India for 3 months and am wondering if I would need the booster injection?? Would this then cover me for life.
I guess I should rephrase. Would the dosage given clear up NGU that is not caused by Chlamydia? I'm not sure what the failure rate of urine test is, but I am guessing that testing after a week would typically generate a low false negative result for chlamydia and gonorrhea? I gave a beginning stream sample and waited right at an hour before urination.
Am I correct to assume that I should be most concerned with a non-chlamydial NGU? The doctor had gonorrhea in his mind for some reason.
