Anyone ever missed a **** Avenox and couldnt take it to the following week so technical it be 2 weeks of not being on it? Any advice would be great thanks! im going to call the dr.
Avatar f tn If I remember correctly, Avonex is titrated (each dose bigger than the last) until you get to the full dose, but the prefilled syringes you get are filled with the full dose amount. There should be some leftover until you get all the way to the full dose. I've not been on Avonex, but for some reason that sticks with me.
Avatar f tn re having a discussion on the MS forum about whether one can skip a dose of Avonex to avoid the major side effects during the holiday festivities. Some who take Avonex feel quite sick for a day or two. I'm lucky not to, but still this is a good question. Perhaps you could answer in terms of all 4 DMDs. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I am on Tecfidera 240 mg dose. It just occurred to me I missed the morning dose. I have a call into the specialty pharmacy for direction. I didn't find much on the web except "take it as soon as you remember and if close to your next dose take it then but don't double up". This is the first time I missed since starting therapy last month. I feel terrible. Is this incredibly bad?
427555 tn?1267553158 If someone missed synthroid for 4 days, is it ok to take all the missed doses together? A friend went away and forgot their synthroid medication at home.
Avatar f tn Do I still take the ribavirin pills since I missed the dose? After 4 weeks I was tested and no virus was showing so I am worried that this is going to be a set back. I am anemic as well. Just need to know what to do??? Hep clinic closed for weekend as is doc office and pharmacist had no clue. Anyone been through this?
Avatar f tn Flu-like symptoms are a fairly common side effect during the initial weeks of Avonex treatment. It is recommended that you take your Avonex injection before bedtime. Immediately before your injection, and for the 24 hours that follow the injection, patients have found that use of over the counter pain and fever reducing medications can help with this common side effect." You could also get on the Avonex website for further info. good luck. hope that you feel better soon.
5644375 tn?1371561016 For OTC medication I use Tylenol, but others use Aleve, Advil, etc. I also take a dose an hour or two before injection when I take the Avonex out of the refrigerator. For your first couple of weeks you might even take a dose 4-6 hours before that. Hydration tends to help alleviate effects. Drink plenty of water in the day of and the day after injection. Of course, other non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverages also work to hydrate you.
Avatar f tn Sigh, I have a question from a friend. She would like to know if avonex causes calcium deficiency? She is diagnosed with ms. Not like me.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have been on Avonex for 17 weeks now but I am still experencing new symptoms. Especially in the past month. My doctor had me cut my Avonex back to 1/2 about a month ago because of the side effects. I THOUGHT I had been taking half dose but found out from the pharmacist that I have actually been taking 3/4 dose. That was my fault for not understand where the half way mark is at. But at least my side effects are becoming less even on the 3/4 dose.
389314 tn?1200537076 In pregnant monkeys given AVONEX® at 100 times the recommended weekly human dose (based upon a body surface area comparison), no teratogenic or other adverse effects on fetal development were observed. Abortifacient activity was evident following 3 to 5 doses at this level. No abortifacient effects were observed in monkeys treated at 2 times the recommended weekly human dose (based upon a body surface area comparison).
649926 tn?1297657780 The Cleveland Clinic Doctor Wants to start me on Avonex in the next couple of weeks and follow me here in Cleveland from now on. She feels that all of my problems are either MS or various meds that the doctors have given me in the past. No Sjogren's etc. ? Wow I was on Copaxone and it didn't work but am willing to try anything if it will stop this progression. 3 neuro's in the last 5 months with 3 different opinions. Rituxan, IVIG & now Avonex.
233622 tn?1279334905 I am due to go to the full dose tonight, however, I have decided to do 3/4 dose for two weeks and then go to the full amount. I am feeling much more at ease and confident about this than I was last week. Thanks so much!
2015036 tn?1332997788 t see my neuro until next month, and I have had more difficulty with allergic reaction to Avonex. For the last couple of months, I've been able to control it with 10mg of oral prednisone, and two benadryl tablets- along with the usual pre medication for interferon. Last week, the rash persisted for an additional day. This week, the rash/itchiness is still present, three days later. I don't want to give up! Other than the skin rash, this dmd has been the most tolerable for me.
233622 tn?1279334905 Your Mom should still be protected by the interferon even though she has been off of it for a month (having been on the Rebif for so long). However, the Rebif is a higher dose, and the switch to Avonex is a smaller dose, then the missed doses - lowering it even further. I'm sure you are mad, but do give her a break over those misses:) She'll need that reassurance that she did not cause this. In themeantime, her neuro can justify her use of Rebif to the insurance docs.
Avatar f tn so i missed my dose of rivoferion last night fell asleep noticed this morning that i didnt take it. so nov.11th is is my last dose,by missing this dose did i just screw up my tx.i sure hope not!!!! and this is the first x.
560501 tn?1383612740 Ok I missed it. I didn't log on yesterday, so a day late but the best of wishes none the same!
Avatar m tn Hmmm. I've not heard of this. In my teaching in Immunlogy where we used a lot of steroids, it is held that prednisone does not begin to take effect for about 12 hours. High dose IV you can see an earlier effect. But, I've not heard anyone suggest that it would likely be effective within 5 to 6 hours, which is when they say the side efects of Avonex usually appear. Mine usually rear their head about 5 hours after the shot, so this matches what the lit says.
1168718 tn?1464983535 She has told me to stop my copaxone, and to go and get the antibiotics for my infection, and wait for a month, and she wants me to start Avonex *sp* , so, I am going to start investigating this one, she did not want me to go the route of the chemo yet, and wants to try the avonex first. So, hoping this will happen, without me having to be the police on my case !!! LOL I am still waiting for the new specialist appt, about my bladder , and hoping it will be sooner than later.
Avatar f tn I was to the point of being in my Hoveround unable to stand without help and not being able to get into bed without help. After one dose of LDN I was able to not only stand but to walk holding on to furniture and walls from the bed to the bathroom about a total of 15 steps. I continue to feel the effects of this medicine. I no longer have any pain, my numbness is completely gone and my last MRI shows there are no new plaques on the brain.
Avatar f tn I had forgotten that Plegridy even exists, so I looked it up for more info. Turns out it is made by Biogen Idec, who also make and market Avonex and Tysabri. It is a kind of interferon, and is administered via injection every two weeks. The doses are stepped up, with full levels reached after several weeks.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, has anyone not heard from the AVONEX people once they were put on it.??? I have heard from heath nurses, and today, got my WELCOME package, but still no product. I don't know what is going on, and of course the lady or the rep from Avonex is away on holidays till the 2nd. of Dec..... so, I guess we will do it next week ... Just to let you guys know, they stopped my antiobiotic IV today, and said that it was an MS attack. Wherever there are nerves, MS can strike.
