Avatar f tn Hi, I to am on Copaxone and have been for 4 months as well, and I can't say that I have gained weight... sorry, but I too watch calories all the time so have not noticed to much difference. Hope you can get to the bottom of it ...
195469 tn?1388322888 I wish we could blame more things for weight gain but I'm afraid it just isn't so. Have been on both Copaxone and Avonex this year and have put on weight (just ask my clothes!) but I've also been snacking way too much. Gotta stop that. A lot of MSers report weight gain, and I think the fatigue just leads to inactivity, and of course, inactivity brings weight. If only we could turn down the volume on hunger.
1025701 tn?1257172434 I was put into the secondary progressive group and am not sure what they will put me on. I heard copaxane makes you gain weight and leaves hard bumps on your legs. Vain, yes I know. So if anyone would be so kind as to share their experiences, I would greatly appreciate it.
956292 tn?1334054869 I took her to the vet the other day for her vaccinations and her weight more than doubled in a month and a half. The vet said, too, that she is a little under weight! She doesn't seem to be too interested in food. Maybe I need to switch her brand of puppy food or add some wet food to the dry? Somehow I need to get her to gain a little weight. Never had a problem with any of my pets being underweight...the other two are both way overweight, lol! Love and hugs!
587890 tn?1295473081 I have had MS for 10 years and I just stopped my AVONEX so I can try and get pregnant I know it sounds stupid but there is no studies on avonex and pregnancy so I just thought I would ask if any one else has been on some treatment or off to get pregnant? and how long were you off your meds ?
252144 tn?1227422620 My neuro, who does a wartload of research on AVonex and Tysabri, told me that Avonex "hits its full effect around 6 months," and when I was having symptoms at that time (actaully for me it was 7 to 8 months) did not feel that Avonex had been given a full chance. I think 6 months is jumping the gun a little, just based on the words of one of the major researchers, but I can't tell you that I really know.
Avatar f tn ) and still have a safe and fulfilling sex life. Your best bet is to discuss this with your doctors and possibly and Infectious Disease Doctor. The doctors may recommend vaccinating your partner. They may also consider the risk of contracting HPV to be a low risk exposure and do nothing. Most people with MS can be vaccinated with "non-live virus" vaccines. Gardasil is a VLP (Virus Like Partials) vaccine (so it is safe) protecting against infection by HPV types 16, 18, 6, and 11.
1033596 tn?1252519593 I don't want to play doctor here or anything, but I was in a similar situation for several years. My apartment got broken into, then I moved home, and then my house literally got hit by lightening. I started taking lexapro for the Post-Traumatic Stress. I'd always been a bit of a snacker and stress-eater, but I a burdensome amount of weight from it. I asked my doctor about other alternatives to the Lexapro, and she suggested Welbutrin.
Avatar f tn When I was taking Prozac I didnt gain weight.Paxcel made me gain some though.
Avatar f tn How long did it take people to gain weight, if any on Methimazole. I want to gain weight and nothing has happened. I've been on it for about a month now.
Avatar f tn This is the time in your life more than ever that you should be eating healthy and exercising regularly. Expect to gain weight ; that is healthy and necessary for most women, but if the gain happens too quickly you MUST Work with your OB to ensure that you are as healthy as possible. I would really listen to Alaysha's advice personally.. She's a model and one of the most stunning pregnant women I've ever seen, so I'd follow her rules for healthy weight gain personally lol.
Avatar m tn I have taken quite a bit of different antibiotics back in May. I have stopped taking it a about 3 weeks ago, maybe longer and noticed that I have a hard time gaining weight now. I have had bad anxiety and depression as well recently which may have caused my appetite to go down drastically but when it comes back I start to eat a lot and it doesn't seem like I can gain weight like I used too.
Avatar n tn Keep in mind you could gain weight on Zoloft or any ssri, and your weight gain on Paxil has been minimal -- I gained 50 pounds over several years on it. And be careful going off it, it can be difficult. Do it slowly and carefully.
Avatar f tn SSRIs are notorious for weight gain, but Prozac has less of a weight gain potential (compared to say Paxil). Your weight gain may be natural - over the course of 20 years. Or it may be the result of the Prozac. But 2-3 pounds per year to gain from an SSRI is not very much. I was on Lexapro for 2-3 years and gained nearly 40 pounds in that time.
Avatar f tn It does make sense to take Abilify during the day if its keeping a person awake at night as it can be activating. If not it won't make a difference as regards weight gain. Abilify is the least likely out of the antipsychotics to cause weight gain. I have posted about the antipsychotics in development that won't do this but they still are not approved medications yet. If you were diagnosed with bipolar with psychotic features you need an antipsychotic.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone :) I haven't been around on the forum or a while due to a string of horrible bad luck, but things are starting to look up so here I am :). I have a question about DMDs I have been on Avonex now for 5 weeks and have noticed a huge difference in my muscle spasms. It's as if the off switch got flipped! I went from having them literally 24/7 literally. My neuro said she hadn't really seen anything quite that severe she could see muscle spasms everywhere during my exams.
Avatar n tn I read some articles about this just yesterday and was surprised, for I take Lantus and have noticed no weight gain at all. So this could be a factor. However, a change in metabolism in middle age probably is the real culprit, along with possibly a slower metabolism because you are not eating. Exercise should help both problems. Start walking! Park your car further from the door, take stairs instead of elevators, etc. Or use your lunch hour to do some mild exercise right in your office.
288459 tn?1201291329 I have relapsing remitting MS and am on Avonex too, for the past 5 years. MS began 14 years ago and I ignored it until a serious episode of optic neuritis made me seek medical help. I absolutely agree that depression is a major side effect of MS and Avonex use. I too am irritable, cannot multi-task well, and have a rather blunted affect. My husband and I have separated.
