Avodart withdrawal symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Avodart withdrawal symptoms

avodart

Avatar m tn When I developed gynecomastia (which is minor and I ignore) I lowered the dose of AVODART to one twice a week which is 8/month (from 15/month). AVODART has a long half life. Will 8/month still work? I wrote to GLaxo who make Avodart and they said what you said "ask your physician". My physician is very busy and I don't want to waste his time. My next appointment is in June and I will ask at that time if I don't have an answer by then.
Avatar m tn What is normal time to stay Avodart ? The doc give enough for 3 weeks but I would think I would need to stay on for longer than that. I have had no side effects as I know of and I believe it has helped. How long has others stayed on this ? Thanks for any help.
Avatar m tn I am a 61-year-old, white male. In the past, I had been VERY heterosexually active. I’m not gay. I am now in an exclusive, monogamous relationship and have been for quite some time. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with BPH, and prescribed a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Urine stream improved. Frequency abated. I asked my urologist to consider putting me on the standard dosage of Depo Testosterone, strictly as an exogenous source of free testosterone, due to malaise, fatigue, etc.
Avatar n tn Propose that your partner try Avodart. I think it really helps with prostate enlargement. That is what the television commercials say anyhow. Unfortunately it also can cause a large reduction in semen production. AND women wanting to become pregnant should NEVER touch the pill as it can cause birth defects if they are exposed at all to it. You can Google Avodart read all of this yourself from a variety of sites, including Avodart's manufacturer.
Avatar m tn I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar f tn Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say? What prompted starting the med? Your psa looks pretty good.
Avatar m tn Hi. I am a 61 year old, white male. In the past, I had been VERY heterosexually active. I am now in an exclusive, monogamous relationship. Avatar m tn I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin . Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago. I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive. Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
Avatar m tn Hello 2 months ago I had protected sex with a female partner with her sexual health status unknown. I am a 24 year old male. I am still terrified that I will have a recurrent mild outbreak. After possible exposure I didn't have any symptoms of an outbreak. So my question is. Is it possible to have an asymptomatic primary outbreak and then have a recurrent outbreak with lessons and prodrome? I have a female partner in a monogamous relationship and I don't want to infect her.
Avatar m tn It depends on the test. Do you know if it is ELISA or Herpeselect?
Avatar m tn I say this because there are certain medications meant for men, like Avodart for enlarged prostate, that women are told not to even handle. They say so on the commercials for this medication. If women are told not to even handle Avodart, which would mean that it can be absorbed through the skin, I would think you may be right about the possibility of you absorbing the hormones from the IUD. But, I suspect some doctor may refute this, although I don't know why.
Avatar m tn I am 33 years old and have been diagnosed and treated twice with penicillin for bacterial prostatitis ( strep viridans ), yet I can't seem to shake some of the symptoms. I get burning sensations around the scrotum and occasional discomfort of the urethra. I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative.
1657684 tn?1307375035 Very likely, the Urologist will prescribe a medication, such as Avodart, since the symptoms are severe enough to impact his quality of life. He might also try Saw Palmetto, which is available online, and at any health food store. I know folks who take this, and claim it works very well. One other reason for him to see a Urologist is that it could just be an enlarged prostate, but it could be more serious.
Avatar m tn -There are several medicines to battle the symptoms (vesicare, tamsulosine) and -there is also a medicine combo that shrinks the prostate (combodart, avodart).
Avatar m tn I did not see your age but if you have a prostate that has been a problem for a while, talk to you doctor about Flomax and Avodart(Dutasteride). If I remember correctly one of the drug companies just came out with a single pill that has both Flomax and Avodart in it.
Avatar f tn My boyfriend is on day 6 of taking no pain killers. He has been on it for years after a shoulder surgery. He has all the symptoms of withdrawal that I have read about. He hasn't told the doctor that he is addicted. Out of all the withdrawal symptoms the sleepless nights is what he can't handle. So he asked for sleeping pills. I first thought it was good idea because all of this is foreign to me but now I think it's a bad idea.
