I still am breaking out with the red blood things on my skin,rash and bumps. The ENT gave me avelox to take incase I still had it, not sure if it was that or just everything coming together, I couldn't sleep though I had took my anxiety medicine. I kept shaking and getting that cold feeling as I do at time when I eat and sometimes it just hits me. My head was hurting badly , couldn't adjust my eyes, and my nose was bleeding. Just wanted to let you know that I sent my sputum for analysis and the culture came back positive for Staphylococcus Aureus.
It is resistant to erythromycin so I suppose that's the reason why the azythromycin did nothing.
Yesterday my doctor gave me Avelox (moxifloxacin) so hopefully this will help me recover. It's been a month already and I'm still sick.
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?

Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
I recently developed an upper respitory infection and bronchitis and one of the medications was AVELOX. Within 3 days the severe pain in my shoulders was GONE. How is this possible? Was it a viral infection causing my pains and if so could it be a form of Lyme Disease?
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

Synercid is the only medicine in the US that is close to Pristinamycin but is not allowed for use for anything but strep and staph infections, plus it has to be injected daily by IV, which makes it impossible to get legally. That is pretty stupid since you can buy virginiamycin in 50 pound bags to mix in with animal feed which is basically the same stuff.
Pristinamycin is apparently used quite a bit in Europe for Mycoplasma Genitalium.

After two days of suffering ithcing in my urethra, followed by a frequent urge to urinate, I began to take some left over Avelox (400 mg) that I had on hand. Trust me, I know this was dumb. 36 hours after I began taking the Avelox (one dose on Friday night at 5:30 pm and one on Saturday at 5:00 pm) I had a swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia (1:45 pm on Sunday). The test results just came back negative. Is it possible that the Avelox ruined the test results?
If the effected area has yellow, flaky parts and oozing occasionally I would say it is staph. I currently have staph, and have had it several times. It is very, very, very hard to get rid of. If you do have staph, you will need oral antibotics. Go see a specialist like a Dermatologist or an Infectious Disease Expert. Get a culture to determine what it really is.
Hi, I'm suffering frm staph from past a month. Low grade fever. stiff neck and swollen body at times not everyday. Got a CBC count, Everything seems perfect just a bit low RBC and high WBC 15000. doc's treating for staph with flagyl 400. I've read somewhere tht these medicines don't work to treat staph! I m confident on my doc but just that a month is too long. and these tablets seems to increase my boils and the 1st day gave me bad chest pain. My boils are very tiny but many.
i have done a test and the only thing they say is staph.i have been on medication for over 1 year and nothing has happened.who know what can get rid of it immediately.
I'm beginning to think I could be a carrier.
For a couple of years i've had a boil / cyst on my back that has slowly grown. I've attempted to squeeze it but it's not the sort of spot that looks like it will come to a head. It's not an ingrown hair either. It's quite noticable about the size of a malteser, but never bothered me as it was on my upper back.
Went to see a couple of doctors and they think it is sinus infection - so went on two anti-biotic treatments (Augmentin 10 days - which did not work, then Avelox 14 days). Just finished the Avelox course, but still having some post nasal drip and sore throat. But generally feeling better. Question: How would you assess the risk of this encounter for STD's and HIV in particular? Does female ejaculate fluid contain the HIV virus? What about other STD's?
