I wake up at night wheezy,coughing up white or clear phlem . I also have chest heaviness and itchiness in the chest area. I feel like there is phlem stuck in my throat and my nose feels stuffed.When it is hot out I get these same symptoms.could this be asthmatic bronchitis or something else. I took antibiotics and they didn't help so the doctor gave me avelox(a stronger antibiotic)I am afraid to take it because there are so many dangerous side effects.

Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.

The doctor gave me Metronidazole pills to take to treat Trich and should told me i couldnt have any alcohol 3 days before and after takin the pills including the alcohol in mouthwash bc it was cause a bad stomach ache. i was also wondering if this included my toothpaste which has mouthwash beads? Or is regular toothpaste better or not good either?

If you are careful not to touch the needle it is sterile, if you touch it with something like an alcohol swab, it is less sterile. Alcohol swabs are good at cleaning surface dirt, but not so much for sterility, that is why it is not used for sterility in hospitals. m curious as to what happened with your side effects from Avelox. Did they eventually go away.

Could anyone share any side effects they had and the herxing feel with these? The Dr said they can be tough on some people that was it nauseating , headaches, absolutely no alcohol ect. And what did you do to help cope with any side effects? It would help me to know what might possibly be around the corner for me so I can work thru it. I have to work regardless of how I feel (not an option), so your info will help me prepare getting thru the work day.

they put me on a 2 wk regimen of avelox. i am not having any side effects from it, but infection continues to get worse. at this point i feel no end in sight for this infection. it is feeding off the antibiotics and in my mind i will never get well. and i am sure with being on 4 sets of antibiotics, this bug has just grown resistant to anything and will kill me. i don not relish a long suffocating phegmy death. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic? Are there any "heart friendly" antibiotics out there that I could ask to substitute?

I have no side effects as long as I eat low carb and avoid alcohol. Also, make sure to take it right when you start eating, or right before, not on an empty stomach.

It is not a fun experience. I did not have an episode, I was just really sick. Check out the side effects of all medications because I believe that some of them make it difficult for a person to vomit; which is very dangerous. ALERT: I am not suggesting that anyone should drink.

Went ENT doctor told him about Thailand, and swollen gland on the right side. He said it was nothing. Blood work and urine test, as well as neck ultrasound clear. No problems with throat or nose at this point. End March, another visit to the ENT, now both of glands (bean shaped one's on each side of the throat just made mouth swab and found Staph Aureus 4th levevel of growth or smth like that and E.coli 2. Was prescribed antibiotics named Avelox.

Glad you are feeling better. New and improved meds are not always better for everyone. We can't assume our doctors know or remember every med we are taking and so many meds are toxic to the liver for us that have liver damage. "Patient be ware". Of course when we are ill and out of sorts that last thing we want to do is read the "Cautions" and "Possible Side Effects" on our prescription bags.
