they have been in the news for some controversial reasons: increased risk of heart attacks, and for having GSK funded doctors on the avandia approval board, etc...
I'm not making definitive statements that avandia is bad (or good)... just explaining my reasons for being cautious until lots of other people (who need it more urgently... for diabetes, etc.) try it out.
The last two days I have had readings of 60 and 54. I do not usually test in the mornings but since i had the one low of 60 I decided to check again this morning @ 7:15, slept in for once.
Wondering if my moniter could be failing to register correctly? I did not feel shakey or ill.
Also, are the Kidneys affected by Diabetes ? I recently had my Urine checked because of burning as I have been subject to bladder infections for years. It was ok.
C-Span? All they do is set up a camera and let people see what other people are saying and doing. C-Span itself has no input into that. You mean you'll never watch a legislative hearing to see what you're government is doing, or never watch a book review moderated by someone with no axe to grind? I mean, people on C-Span will say things you won't like, but C-Span just sets up the camera or hosts the call-in, they don't say the things you don't like.

In 2008, a joint medical panel of members from the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes released a statement advising against the use of GSK's diabetes medication, Avandia. This came one year after public charges of cardiac and liver safety were leveled against GlaxoSmithKline regarding the drug. GSK continues to maintain that Avandia is no less a threat to the liver than its competitors.
Also go on the websites of the manufactures, sometimes they have coupons for a % off your bill. When I joint the avandia program I got a couple months free avandia, plus they send coupons at times. Also ask your md for samples. I use to work at a doctors office and we got enough samples to open a pharmacy. Another thing, if your job offers a flexible spending account, I find that is nice as well. it reduces your taxes and you can contribute up to 3000 a year to them. good luck.

Also, Avandia is the other drug that falls into this classification. The FDA warns not to use Avandia for first time users, in fact, the FDA severely restricts its use.

Can I take Evening Primrose and Femara together? I'm also taking Avandia. Any thoughts would be great!
Metformin is in general, a good medication. There are others in the class such as Avandia. You can talk to your doctor about this. You might try drinking more water, eating more fiber (vegetables, whole grains), taking psyllium seed fiber and walking regularly. Each of those can help. Of course, there is always the laxative option but it's best to try the others first. Take it with meals, this helps. Onglyza is another alternative medication idea.
I have now been on Femara once and trying the second time uping my dose to 5mg. I ovulate fine on my own, but I am not producing large enough follicles. Is there something else I should be taking in conjuction w/Femera? We are currently using iui w/donor sperm.

I am diabetic and I have been running 220 on my blood sugar on a regular basis even when I test it in the morning without any food. When my sugar drops to 150, I get really tired, weird feeling in my legs and nauseas.
For someone like me who constantly has a high blood sugar is 150 considered low?
Also can high blood sugar be related in any way to weight loss?
ve been on glucophage since the beginning (10 years) , with the exception of a short and nearly fatal foray into Avandia use. I've had all those symptoms for ten years. I also have passed out several times from low blood sugar, something the doctors say doesn't happen on this medication. Ha, ha. Tell that to the Saturday morning crowd at Denny's.
I have been told I am an exception and, normally, the symptoms are supposed to fade after a few months.
But the simplicity also allows people to become complacent or to ask for that little treatment pill they show in the news report without question, which we know all doctors are so well educated on treatment (insert sarcasm here). By the way, that treatment pill they show is Adefovir.
