I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.

She is gaining weight, has trouble breathing, and has been experiencing some chest pains lately (Dr. gave nitro). She is on avandia and I would like to know if this could be the cause of her recent decline in health?

good article Copy, sorry I missed it earlier. for a while I was off the metformin theory due to the newer drugs such as Byetta and Victoza being more "liver friendly". However, sice succoumbing to a throat tumor (victoza in particular known for thyroid issues) which will removed Monday, I'm off the liver spit drugs and back on the metformin band wagon.

Hello, obviously you are having a problem tolerating byetta, and given that this is now 3 months and you have lost so much weight, I would think it may be rational to ask your doctor if you can stop this medication and try something different? Why did your dr. not decide to start you on Metformin? Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med?

I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).

My question is y are you taking byetta and actos+met... and I'm on topamx, but for seizures... I'm also on actos plusmet 15/500 just once a day, with a insulin pump ( i take apidra in my pump)... byetta and actos plus met are very similar drugs doing the same thing.. the actos+met will make you gain weight very quickly. How many shots of byetta are you taking a day a long with the actos plus met? and what dose of actos are you taking and why...

Hello =) I'm 34 years old and am about to begin my first cycle with the ovulation drug clomid. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have PCOS, and I have PSVT. I take Byetta, metformin, and metoprolol. I have been working with my Dr. for about 18 months to loose weight (I've lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant.

In March while following up on a case of Ludwigs Angina my enhanced CT scan showed.small non pathologically enlarged lymph nodes bilaterally with some inhomogeneity within the thyroid. I hadn't really worried about it until today when I saw a commercial for a law firm warning that the diabetic drug "Byetta" could cause thyroid cancer. I used this med for over a year in 2006 and was taken off because of other complications. Now I'm scared. Should I be?

I see that this is under juvenile diabetes, which I know even less about. But, Byetta is remarkable for a lot of folks, and there are two newer, similar, products available also.

Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.

I had to change to Byetta in about 2 weeks (finished Victoza sample and insurance would only pay for Byetta). I developed nausea at the smaller dose of Victoza, and never used the larger dose. The nausea was unchanged with the change of meds.....and I have lost a LOT of weight (29 pounds). But the nausea started within a day or two of starting it. At least for me.

Actos belongs in class of diabetes medications called thiazolidinediones. In this class are Avandia and a combination drug Avandamet [Avandia and Metformin]. Rezulin is in this class but not much known about it.

I have been sick with a cold/flu for three weeks. Two days ago, I developed diarrhea. It seemed to occur immediately after eating. Today, the diarrhea was bright yellow and I passed something the size of a small grape (also yellow in color). I'm currently on synthroid (for hypothyroidism), effexor (for depression), and metformin & byetta (for insulin resistence). I've been on the Byetta for nearly a month, but have not suffered any side effects to date.

t seem to be experiencing the usual side effects (nausea, headache) others do or that I did when I was on Byetta (I was told Victoza is very similar to Byetta) a few years ago. However ... and this happened to me on a prior med (I forget which one) about 6 months ago, but I started feeling pretty severe anxiety: my face is flushed, my heart is racing, I have a knot in my stomach, and I started getting paranoid (like thinking a friend was going to betray me) for no reason whatsoever.

Also if I do not get up and eat with in 5-10minutes in the morning I get very tired. One last thing is that I usually get no warning sign of being hungry. I feel full and fine and the next minute I feel like if I do not eat I am going to pass out. I get real shaky and hot and it gets hard for me to see straight. Any comments would help.

I use Actos, but for some reason my fingers typed Avandia. Our FDA went through the same review on Avandia recently, and reluctantly left it on the shelf; however, it is used only when patients are found refractory to other, similar drugs, I believe. My TSH was at 1.4 in feb. and something else was 0.434 . I am type 2 and on 35 units of Lantus and sliding scale of novolog.

Due to our insurance company copays, we are spending more per month on diabetic supplies than we can afford. Is there a pharmacy that will accept what the insurance company pays and not require the copay? I know such things exist for Type 2 on Medicaid, but what about for type 1? Thanks!

ve been on Actos for 9 years and have no problems. Avandia is effectively off the market but ACTOS was not removed. The diabetic educator should know better that suggest someone get off a drug. Suggesting that he/she contact their M.D. was a good idea, but not necessarily required, unless the 'one man in the class' is having noticable adverse side-effects. Rumor monger statements and posts like this one are more scary than it actually should be.

I don't know if anything else, I take metformin 1000mgs a day, and at first it kept me with the runs and I lost 20lbs but, then after my body got use to the meds I gained it all back.. I am going to start a liquid diet.. if that doesn't help then I am going to look into Weight Loss surgery.. I am close to 250lbs my biggest is 255.. and I am 5'6 I think that my weight has alot to do with all my health problems and not being able to get PG.. so I need to lose weight some how..

BUT, im mad because i know the dr will tell my dad. And, i cant have that. I dont want my family knowing. Do i have any course of a lawsuit? What do i do? said she saw no reason for me to be on Avandia and i have since stopped useing it. It was never vy high, around 159 or so when it was diagnosed. If i am not careful of my diet it can jump up to the 130's to 140's. Am also on diovan for HBP which is usually under good control with the 1 med.
