avalide

Avatar m tn More likely for your high pulse pressure (75, 85, 80) is your medication. While some drugs for hypertension have the side effect of increasing resting pulse pressure irreversibly, other hypertension drugs, such as ACE Inhibitors, have been shown to lower pulse pressure....significant regardless of the cause is a high resting pulse pressure is harmful and tends to accelerate the normal aging of body organs, particularly the heart, the brain and kidneys.
Avatar f tn No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...I'm traveling alot and can't see him for another 2 weeks. Is this a problem I need to see someone about before then?
Avatar m tn I’m 58 yrs old, 5 ft 10 in and 200 lbs. I’ve been taking Avalide 150/12.5 for pre-hypertension for 8 months. I exercise six times per week and have done so for years; weights twice each week and spinning/bike four times. Any thoughts, input would be appreciated.
492329 tn?1290883385 I take Avalide 150/12.5 and Atenolol 50 mg, am/pm for Avalide and he did up my Atenolol to twice a day. He wants me to walk 30 mins a day and lose 25 lbs in 6 mos. However, my head aches the minute I more my ears ring to. He seems to think they are not connected. I'm really, really terrified! Oh and I had a heart cath in Oct 2008 all okay, but he did mention an S4 but said it would go away when the pressure comes down.
Avatar f tn also have supraventracular tachycardia. In 2001 I had ablation for vt which was partially successful..one blip after blood pressure fell so not sure totally gone...and could not get to supraventricular arrythmia because of loss of blood pressure.. I was in intensive care for a couple of days to keep blood pressure before doctor put me on norpace cr 150 twice a day. I have been on it ever since and am now 71 years old.

Avatar n tn ve been on Lopressor for years to keep my heart rate down and Avalide for blood pressure. Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....
492329 tn?1290883385 I've been on Atenolol 50mg and Avalide 150/12.5mg for 10 yrs. All of the sudden the Atenolol is making my heart rate drop too much and my cardio dropped it to 25mg (12.5mg in am/12.5mg in pm) and, of course, the palps/flutters started almost immediately. He believes it's anxiety and my GERD acting up!
Avatar m tn In the absence of symptoms however, atenolol is great Im sure that you have been worked up for all secondary causes of your hypertension given the young age at which it developed. In my opinion, your biggest concern should be to make sure that other secondary end organs like your kidneys, eyes and cebrovascular system have no evidence of chronic disease.
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar n tn My 79 year old mother, who lives in another state, is on medication for hypertension. She takes Carvedilol, Diovan, Dilitiazem, and Clonidine. Her doctor even talked about putting her on a fifth medicine. I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't make sense to me for anyone to have that many different prescriptions for one problem.
Avatar m tn Currently I am on multiple of 3 BP pills for 6 or more depending on how high my BP goes, and 2 of 1 relaxent pill. Is there any value in getting acunpuncture to lower my BP. I'm only having a problem with the stystolic number mainly ranging between 150 and 220. If yes, is there a good site to go for a qualified acupuncturist for hypertention in the Detroit area? Also, I've had all the tests listed on webmd and more for hypertension, nothing was found wrong over the last 15 years.
1243333 tn?1296446902 Thanks, they have tried Hydrochloride, Toprol-XL ,aliskiren Oral Tablet ,Clonidine pill, HCTZ Lisinopril, Avapro, Avalide, & Bystolic I had allergic reactions to the lisinopril and one of the others and not sure why they switched me from a couple of the others, Thanks so much, Babs
Avatar m tn Intense exercise, such as strength training, weight lifting etc can cause a dramatic increase in blood pressure at the time of training - is the Avalide for BP? And by coatose, do you mean really spaced out, sleepy? I take Coversil and Toprol, but they are to slow the heart rate, and block the affect of hormones on it (like adrenalin). I feel really tired on them, and more dizzy (than when sedentary) if I try to exercise, but dont have the same symptoms as you described, so am just curious...
Avatar n tn I also have what appears to be refractory hypertension. One year ago, when hypertension was dx, an echocardiogram indicated only mild regurgitation of the mitral, aortic, and tricuspid valves. My physician, at this time (EP for pacemaker), said this would go away once BP was controlled. Over a year later, despite seeing a hypertension specialist and trying many different drug regimines, BP still remains high.
Avatar m tn I certainly agree with is_,,, Trying to find the silver bullet, so to speak, has been a search since Heck was a pup, and Dante's Inferno has a place in hell for those who propose nostrums for profit reasons. I'd suggest you follow conventional medications, they have certainly extended my life beyond my expectations. Frankly, to disregard a doctor's prescription to follow an internet threat to me is reckless behavior. You have a serious disease and it is time to face it.
Avatar n tn I had a mager proplem urinating, but had to urinate often aith no control;.My dr. did lager sugery on my prostrate. The flow was better for awhile, but has gotten very slow again.I get up every 30 min to 1 1/2 hour at night . I have to move fast to keep from wetting my pants. very little urine comes out. my bladder doesn't empty out , and doesn't fill up like it should. also I have reverse ejaction. Do you think this will ever correct itself? Anyway.
Avatar n tn Good for you for quitting smoking, coffee, and high salt intake--and for losing weight. Are you physically active on a regular basis (like walking 30-45 minutes 5 or 6 times a week)? Exercise may help to bring your blood pressure down. Also, do you drink milk or eat yogurt every day? Because they have calcium in them, these foods can help control blood pressure, too. (Nonfat types are best, and look for yogurt that has Vitamin D listed on the label.) What about alcohol use?

Avatar m tn I am a 69 old male with a hypertension and ischemia diagnosis and I have a doubt. My question is why there are some days when I take my blood pressure the readings between left and right arm are very big. For example today early in the morning my left arm show a lecture of 150/100 and the right 135/95, I wait for ten minutes and my reading were 135/92 and 125/82. Can you tell me the reason why this happen.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. I went through all check ups before I knew I am having a panic attacks. And after I found out that everything is fine I stopped visiting a doctor. So I didn't ask for further medical help. The reason way is that I really believe that I can go through this without medications. After using the meds people are going through crises again, so why don't I do that now. I don't have any reason not to.
